Lodestar Harbour

Lodestar Harbor is a town in Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.

It is the entry point to exploring the continent of Zephyrus in the second era of the game. Both a bank and Monty's monster den can be found in this town.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly BrideEdit

The town is a bustling and beautiful port, filled with tropical vegetation, clean tiled walk ways, and ornate street lamps the cast a soft glow in the evening. A towering, terraced lighthouse stands over the harbor, with some folks spreading gossip that a fierce ogre lives at the summit: in actuality the keeper is merely a Dwarf named Ogar.

The Hero arrives in Lodestar Harbor by ship after departing from the Littlehaven. Being the first town he is able to explore on his own with only his monsters for company, the port has a relaxed air about it compared to the high tension felt in the Boreas continent. Rumors of Coburg's attempts at world domination have reached the port, but they've been blown off mere gossip now that King Wilbur is ruling directly and ceased all militarization. As peaceful as the harbor is though, the town also bears its own scars due to the rise of monster activity and several of its sailors have been lost at sea due to recent attacks.

The largest building in the town is the inn, which also houses the dancing girl stage and the bar. The stars are Cleo and her back up dancers, who are busy preparing backstage during the day for their act at night. While performing, the women attract a large crowd of men (including one who wisely watches from the overhead balcony) who block the stage ramp during the performance and can only be spoken to backstage after the show.

The bar side of the inn is also packed at night, and the bartender will sheepishly admit that he let slip the Hero's quest for the Zenithian Equipment. The bunny girl at the bar will be inspired to take up her own quest (for a knight in shining armor), and the old man will swear that he's seen the legendary hero in the flesh ten years ago. If the player buys him a drink, the old coot recounts his story and it turns out to be a younger Pankraz. There is a scholar sleeping night and day in the inn side, and he explains in his sleep that the Grandmaster of the Underworld is planning to take over the surface and that the legendary hero must be informed at once.

Story-wise, the importance of the bar is a scene that takes place during the day when the Hero first arrives. A bumpkin from the village of Hay is being harassed by two hooligans, and the goons assume that the Hero is going to intervene. One trouncing later, and the grateful hick explains his situation: a certain monster has been raiding his village's crops for food lately, and he's looking for a strong man to drive the beast off. The man gives the Hero 1,500 gold coins up front and promises the other half later once the monster has been done in, and departs. Also, one of the bar patrons at night will mention the magical research of of a crazed old professor in Zoomingale to the far west and tell the Hero that the researcher is trying to revive a spell that allows for instantaneous travel.

Years prior to the Hero's arrival, Bianca Whitaker and her father, Whitey stayed at the inn here on their way to Stockenbarrel. Whitey found relaxing in the area to be difficult.[1]

Knick-knackEdit

The Ship in a bottle is the harbor's Knick-knack, and can be purchased from a merchant at the loading dock for 1,000 gold coins. At night in the inn, the merchant explains that he was originally traveling to the White King's paradise, but his wares began selling like hot cakes at the harbor and he decided to set up shop for a while instead.
