Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]
The faerie flute is used to awaken the Goddess Rubiss from Her slumber in the eponymous shrine, after the five sigils have been collected. It was given to the Protector of Cantlin some time after the events of Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake by the Hero for safekeeping, and has been in the hands of that family ever since. The next in line for the position has gotten cold feet due to doubting himself, and has absconded from Cantlin with the flute to Kol. Humorously enough, he drops it in the same spot its been found in throughout the ages.
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]
In Dragon Quest III, the flute not only can be used to put enemies to sleep, but also is key to freeing Rubiss from her imprisonment in the Tower of Rubiss. However, it can no longer be used to fight the Golem of Cantlin, since the guardian hasn't been built yet at this point in time.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]
Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]
The flute appears as treasure No. 49 in the legendary items category, with a base value of 5,900,000.
Trivia[edit]
- The Fairy Ocarina from the Legend of Zelda series may be a reference to this item.
- The official guidebook to Dragon Quest III erroneously calls this item the Flute of Echo, confusing it with the Echo Flute.
