Galumph

From Dragon Quest Wiki
(Redirected from GigaMute)

The Galumph is a monster and boss that appears exclusively in Dragon Quest VII. It is a bizarre, pink-skinned flying beast with three pairs of wings on its back.

Characteristics[edit]

A tyrannical six-winged hippopotamus-like beast with reptilian features that terrorizes the tops of towers with blasts of bone breaking cold breath. Though powerful, they are slow witted and struggle to deal with quick strikes. Although their thick skin protects them from the elements, wind is still their main weakness due to the beast's tired wings holding it's entire weight.

Drop rate for Tortoise shell increased to 132.

A boss version of Gigalumph is faced at the very top of the Highendreigh Tower in the present. In the 3DS version of the game, the boss is named Galumph, but it is clearly intended to be a Gigalumph.

Strategy[edit]

Galumph can be a wake-up call in difficulty for those who have been slacking in leveling up their party. It can attack twice in one turn and unleash devastating ice breath attacks. Woolly Blanket or Insulatle is essential in reducing the damage, as well as armour that protects against cold. Spells other than Sizz and Bang work well against it and Sap is highly recommended since it has no resistance against it. Wing-Clipper and Flying Knee will also be very helpful against Galumph since it is a flying enemy.
