Harry is a prince of the kingdom of Coburg in Dragon Quest V, and is briefly a party member during the game.

Appearance and personality[edit]

In his youth Harry wears a wide neck ruff, a red cape, and a yellow tunic with blue arms and leggings covered by a teal shirt with a large belt. His adult clothing is similar, though his cape how has trim along the collar, his tunic has been exchanged for a sleeved vest, and he now wears breeches. Harry carries a rapier at his side as a boy and man.

Harry is a spoiled brat upon his first meeting with the Hero, Madason, pranking him and refusing to follow Pankraz's instructions without being slapped first. The years of slavery, plus Pankraz's sacrifice prompt a dramatic change in the man, with Harry's adult persona being soft spoken and considerate to others. This demeanor is what wins him the heart of Maria, and Harry becomes a devoted husband and father. He feels as though he is the cause of Pankraz's death, and seeks to aid Madason in his search for the Zenithian Equipment anyway he can.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]

Harry is first seen as a child, the Prince of the kingdom of Coburg, and was rather spoiled and troublesome. Pankraz was summoned by the king to Coburg, bringing his son in tow. Soon after, Harry was abducted by thugs, and Pankraz and Madason sprang to his rescue. Before they could escape the ruins, they were captured by Bishop Ladja who slew Pankraz and shipped the boys off to the Order of Zugzwang's slave camp at Mount Azimuth.

Ten years later, Harry and Madason escape along with fellow slave Maria, before washing up at Heaven's Above Abbey. Once they recovered, Harry tagged along with Madason to fulfill Pankraz's dying wish and departed the abbey but not before developing a crush on Maria. After picking up a horse and wagon in Fortuna, they stopped at the ravaged Whealbrook and found Pankraz's storage deep in the cave which outlined his quest. At Roundbeck, they learned that Coburg was building an army and had sacked Whealbrook some years ago, which deeply troubled Harry.

Returning to Coburg, they discovered that Harry's half-brother Wilbur had assumed the throne after his father died, but the Queen Dowager was pulling the strings and began enacting a tyrannical rule. Investigating further, they discovered the real Queen Dowager was imprisoned and an imposter is in her place, who uses the kingdom's military might to fufil the Order's desires. The two set out to Abovitall Tower to retrieve the Ra's Mirror to expose the impostor, with Maria lending her aid to enter the tower. After defeating power behind the throne, Harry stays behind to help King Wilbur run Coburg, leaving Madason to continue his journey alone.

Some time later, Harry married Maria, and the two would attend Madason's wedding. They eventually had a son named Kendrick whom Wilbur named heir to the throne.

Additionally, if Madason marries Nera or Debora Briscoletti (remakes only), Harry informs their father Rodrigo Briscoletti of Mada's ability to cast the Zoom spell. This leads to the Hero using the spell to transport the wedding guests to the Pontoon and Ventuno

Remake changes[edit]

In the Super Famicom version of the game, Harry doesn't take part in battles until after he and Madason leave Heaven's Above Abbey.

Later versions have him being able to take part in the brief fight with Bishop Ladja, as an uncontrollable party member, then joining in a combat with the Slave-drivers as a controllable ally and being able to get a level up before traveling.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]

Harry appears in the Nintendo DS remake of the game and the subsequent phone port. If the player opts to choose the far distant future version of Reaper's Peak, which is based on Dragon Quest V, Harry appears in the village bar.

Dragon Quest Rivals[edit]

Harry serves as an avatar for the player and appears in the art of several cards.

Dragon Quest: Your Story[edit]

Harry's role in the film mirrors the game up until the duo gain their freedom. As the Faux dowager plotline is omitted, Harry departs from the Hero's journey once they reach Coburg. Instead, he rallies the kingdom's army to aid the Hero in the finale. Maria herself is absent from the film.
