The lesser demon (originally Vulgarian) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VI, it is a red, winged, humanoid demon that often moves on all fours.
Lesser demons have the appearance of gangly, red humanoids and they usually walks on all four limbs, despite having a pair of wings on its back. Their arms have been depicted as having both four and five fingers, and their feet have two toes. Lesser demons also wear a large amount of jewelry, having multiple gold bracelets on their wrists and ankles, gold earrings, and a necklace with multicolored beads. They have a long pointed tail, large pointed ears, a thick brow with two curved horns, and their mouths appear to be perpetually wide open, displaying a set of sharp fangs and a green tongue.
Lesser demons (known as Vulgarians in the PS1 version) can be found in the Aeolus Vale area and is one of the forms that the WonderEgg can take if it hatches.
A vulgarian is a term for an unrefined or boorish person, who makes an ostentatious display of wealth. This fits with the description of a lesser demon, which wear a large amount of gaudy jewelry on their body.
