Manky mud is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a lump of toxic sludge collected from a poisonous swamp or monster that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Manky mud can be collected from Doomingale Forest, Mt. Ulzuun, and the Gittish Empire, has a 15% chance of being found in Rank 4 blue treasure chests, or dropped by Walking corpses, Stenchurions, Toxic zombies, Ghouls, Apeckalypses, and Mortoads. One clod of manky mud is required to complete Quest #127: A Right Royal Nightmare, along with a Malicite, and a vial of Sage's elixir. Manky mud can be sold for 15 gold or can be used in the following alchemy recipes:

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Manky mud is used as an ingredient in weaponsmithing for crafting poisonous weapons or in alchemy to add a Sap effect to weapons. It can be purchased from a material store for 240 gold, picked up from sparkly spots, or dropped by various monsters, including Toxic zombies.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit]

Manky mud can be dropped by Bubble slimes and Toxic zombies or exchange for three Mini medals from King Flaminio on the Stonecloud. It can be sold for 5 gold or used to create Stimulating specs or the quick recipe for the Ring of immunity in the Alchemy Pot. Three clods of manky mud are required to complete Quest #039: A Poisonous Petition.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End[edit]

Manky mud is used as an ingredient to improve various accessories or sold for 5 gold. Once again, it can be dropped by Bubble slimes and Toxic zombies.
