The Rhinothrope is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.

It is an axe-wielding rhinoceros warrior that dons blue armor in battle. Its name is a combination of the words "rhino" and "anthrope", which means human in Latin.

Characteristics

Rhinothropes, naturally, are anthropomorphic rhinoceroses whose weapon of choice is a large, two-handed battle axe with a teal axe head. Their armor consists of a blue breastplate with pauldrons attached, a skullcap that lets their ears poke out, a pair of blue trunks, and green gauntlets and boots. Their tough hides and armor make them highly resistant to various types of magic.

Dragon Quest Tact

Rhinothrope appears as a B-rank monster of the Beast family. It can be scouted from Chapter 4, Episode 7: Wavering Hearts in Part 2 of the main storyline, where it appears as a boss, along with the Rhinoceraxe Nun stage of The Beastliest Beast of Bravas Qualifiers during the "Beast Fest" event at any difficulty. The rhinothrope can participate in the Battle Roads of the Dark sabrecub, Maldragora the Worldbreaker, Robbin' 'Ood, and Sweet troll as a party member.
