The Monster Meadows is a side quest in the game Dragon Quest VII, focusing on building up a nature preserve of sorts for a wide variety of monster species to live in.

Synopsis
The Meadow is available when the player defeats Sulkk in Nottagen. When the town is brought to the present, the Monster Meadows appears next to Nottagen.

When the player enters the monster park, they see a house. Inside the house lives VII's Monty. The monster monitor's dream is to create a place where people can come from all over the world to view monsters in their natural habitat, and enlists the party to help him fulfill the plan.

In the 3DS remake, the Monster Meadows are available once the island of Regenstein has been visited, and brought back to the present. After speaking to Carey, and recruiting Phlemrique from Pilchard Bay, the underground of The Haven becomes accessible. A portal can be found in the eastern half of the cave, which leads the party to the Monster Meadows. However, completion is not possible at this time, and requires further progress.

Taming
In order to tame monsters, the player must have the beef jerky in their inventory. It is a quest item so as such, it cannot be thrown away. The player does not need to have the beef jerky in one of the player's inventory.

The monster who is defeated last will be the one that the player has a chance at taming, similar to recruitment in V. Each monster has a set taming value ranging from 1/8, like a Slime, to 1/256.

NOTE: If a monster is recruited but the plan for it's habitat has not been obtained, the monster will relocate to the Meadows immediately once the proper habitat is constructed. Once a monster is recruited it cannot be lost unless released by the player.
If the player recruits duplicates of a monster, they are sent into storage where the player can choose to release that monster into the wild again.

Having a party member who currently is a Monster Masher will help by using the Animal Magnetism skill. It increases the likelihood that a monster can be tamed based on the rank the character has in the vocation, and the character must be a monster masher for the skill to work. Using Monster Munchies will also increase the likelihood that a tamed monster will appear.

Recruitment bait
Meaty treat
The Meaty treat (originally Rib) is one of the first meat related items that can be found for monster recruitment. Five can be used in a single battle to guarantee recruitment. It can also be sold for 347 Gold Coins.
Exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS port, the Shepherd's crook is a weapon. It can be equipped by Maribel and Sir Mervyn with the stat bonus of +27 Attack/+21 Style. It has the same effect as Animal Magnetism when used in battle.

Enclosure Plans
In the beginning, the monster park will have only three areas: a grassy plain, a storage area for extra monsters, and the guru's house. However, during the course of the game, the player will come across plans for additional enclosures (originally called BluePrint). These blueprints will allow the monster guru to build new areas for different monsters.

Once a new enclosure is given, the Party needs to spend the night at an Inn for it to be built.

There are nine plans in the game:

*Graveyard: Highendreigh Tower in the present, defeat the King Slime.
Lily is a woman of sublime character and gravity. Or, at least, she likes to think so. The truth is, she's more than a bit full of herself, but she is also a shrewd and proven monster scout in her own right.

Crisis
The first time the Hero enters Iceolation, he encounters Lily at the mercy of a group of unruly hellhounds. The Countess is missing at the time and cannot help Lily, so it is up to the Hero to rescue her. After the battle is over, she discovers a dry bonfire, but can not light it, as she has lost her lighter - ironically made of the Mother of Pearl material. She eventually finds a torch, but incurs the wrath of another group of hellhounds. The bonfire has a method of attracting the Boss of Iceolation, Baby Bjørn, yet they had no intentions of fending the beast, as the giant was prone to knocking it itself out due to the presence of thick ice walls and the bonfire. Later, in the caves further along, she reunites with The Countess after a brief chase, but the reunion is interrupted by the very Giant she and the Hero had outsmarted time and again. However, without any walls to utilize, she entrusts the Hero with defeating the agitated Bjørn.

After the events of Cragravation, Lily appears once more in the depths of The Unshore, having chased after The Countess once again. She rewards the player with a Seed of Agility, as way of thanks.

The Countess
The Countess is Lily's main monster and pet. This friendly beast spends most of its time in a seemingly vacant and mindless bliss, floating among human pals. However, the Countess is given over to occasional, inexplicable fits of strange behavior, from agitation to rage.
The teeny sanguini is a recurrent monster in the Dragon Quest series and it was introduced in Dragon Quest IX.

Characteristics
The teeny sanguini, as other members of the sanguini family, has a bat-like appearance and round-ish body. It also has very sharp teeth which it uses for attacking. What makes the teeny sanguini different from the other sanguinis, besides the stats, is the cow-like pattern on its fur.

When it comes to stats, the teeny sanguini is one of the weakest enemies that appear in Dragon Quest IX.
One of the first - albeit non-recruitable, monsters that the Hero encounters is a curious Teeny Sanguini named The Countess, under the ownership of Lily Gilder. During the course of the game, Miss Gilder often accompanies the Hero on chases; her beloved beast is prone to running away at the blink of an eye and finding danger for herself.

A Teeny sanguini can be synthesized by combining a platypunk with an imp. Teeny sanguinis when synthesised over level twenty create a Teeny sanguini X. Two level fifty Teeny sanguini X's make a Teeny sanguini XY.
Lizzie is a character and optional party member in DQ6, and the only non-Slime related monster that joins the Hero. Though seemingly a simple brute, Lizzie is actually a sensitive soul trying to find her way in the world as her instincts dictate, clouded by her infatuation with Terry. She is the only hacksaurus that can be recruited in VI.

Appearance and personality
Lizzie looks identical to her scaly brethren, save for a few illustrations that show her sporting some large ear-rings in her frills. In Dragon Quest Monsters Super Light, she is shown wearing a blue neck warmer to distinguish her from the generic Hacksaurus.

Though mostly devoid of personality in the original version of VI, the lengthy party chat in the remake has reinvented her completely. Full of curiosity, she is a naive woman eager to learn more about the world of humans and much of her dialogue will revolve around asking questions regarding objects or people the Hero has just interacted with. A shrinking violet at heart, she feels most comfortable and secure around the party, and even states that she considers them to be her family.

Select bits of party chat reveal that she takes pride in her immense strength, but she also is also slightly insecure, wondering if she's strong enough to protect the party and if she could have made a difference in the battle against Murdaw. Contrasting this, she's prone to gushing about things she enjoys, specifically rabbits and bunny girl accessories. Despite her limited understanding of etiquette Lizzie makes an effort to be polite, though this won't stop her from drooling incessantly while indoors.
Appearances
DQ6
startLizzie was first encountered by The Hero & company in Wayfarer's Pass near Arkbolt when she and other monsters interfered in the construction of a tunnel leading through a mountain chain. The Hero's party was sent by the King of Arkbolt to remedy the problem, only for Terry to kill her in combat and take her to Arkbolt Castle before the group could make a move.

Her corpse was left in the castle's prison, and eventually resurrected herself through unknown means. Unlike before, she was no longer hostile towards the people around her, waiting calmly in her cell and asking to meet "the blue swordsman" again. Upon Terry's recruitment into The Hero's party, Lizzie decides to join the party's cause as well.end
Remake changes
*In the Super Famicom version, Lizzie did not retain her species' resistances to elemental and debilitating magic, making her just as dependent on armour as human characters.

Etymology
Lizzie is the diminutive form of Elizabeth, a hebrew name meaning Consecrated to God. It is also a possible pun on the word lizard; a branch of reptiles.

Trivia
*Unlike the recruitable Slimes, Lizzie's range of dialogue through Party Chat is on par with the human characters and responds directly to both NPC comments & events.
*It is strongly hinted through party chat that Lizzie has a crush on Terry. The most explicit example can be seen by bringing Terry and Lizzie to the bar in Port Haven and speaking to Donna the bunny girl, where Lizzie will roar in frustration over the attention Terry is receiving.
:*Another example is seen after speaking to the girl by the well and her grandfather in the Somnia of the Lower World, where she will mention how proud she is to be with Terry, and interject to the old man's claims of the Hero being kindhearted by saying the silver-haired swordsman is just as kind.
*Lizzie prefers cats over dogs, describing the latter as too noisy. Party chat activated after the Hero has interacted with a mutt will show her being either agitated or uncomfortable, though she will remark that Max Wynne's dog Silver is very reliable.
*Lizzie hates the scent and taste of alcohol, and is perplexed as to why humans enjoy it.
*If party chat is used in exceedingly hot places such as the magma chambers under Murdaw's Keep or Aridea, Lizzie will complain about it being too hot for her. This is likely written just for humor's sake, but could also be a reference to the prevailing theory that dinosaurs were warm-blooded.
*The mortalkind tongue is likely Lizzie's second language, as she has a tough time understanding figures of speech, jokes, and her grammar is broken.
