The Puff-Puff is a sacred technique bestowed upon mortal-kind by the Goddess on High. Originating in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga, the act refers to...well, you're bright enough to figure it out.

Outside of humorous scenes, the term also refers to a reoccurring skill used by the silly and the sexy.

Appearances Outside of Battle
DQ
A woman will offer the lone Hero 1 a Puff-Puff for 50 gold coins in Rimuldar in the original version of the first game, with the event taking place in the Kol bathhouse in the remakes and the woman charging only 20 gold coins. The original version is less sophisticated than subsequent encounters, with the screen merely fading to black briefly. In the HD-2D Remake, it is instead the usual bait-and-switch gag, with the woman instead blowing on a boiled egg to cool it off, thus making "Puff-Puff" with her breath.

The NES localization censored the dialogue so that the woman is selling tomatoes.

DQ2
A bunny girl in Rippleport will offer her services for 100 gold coins. In the Japanese release there's more to her than meets the eye, if turned down she'll ask if it's because she's actually a man.

DQ2HD
Puff-Puff is learned by both the Prince of Midenhall and the Princess of Moonbrooke. It is learned through an ability scroll and costs 0 MP and for the former, it does Strike-elemental damage to one enemy, while for the latter, it has a chance to enthrall an enemy for three turns.

DQ3
A dancer in the streets of Asham at night offers a Puff-Puff free of charge. After leading the character upstairs, she turns off the light and begins the massage, only to later reveal the one doing the massage was her father, leaving the character who received the massage at a loss for words.

The original NES localization censored the scene by referring to a Puff-Puff as a powderpuff massage. This change was undone in all subsequent localizations.

She will only offer and give a Puff-Puff if a male character is at the beginning of the party line up.

DQ4
A dancing girl in the bar of Laissez Fayre will perform a Puff-Puff for free, but only upon male characters. In DQ4 Chapter 1, Angus' wife Aigneas gives her befuddled husband a Puff-Puff to restore his lost memory in the original Japanese script.

The western releases of IV on the Nintendo DS do not include the puff-puff in the Laissez Fayre bar, nor the one Aigneas gives to Angus. This was most likely to maintain a lower content rating at Nintendo's behest.

DQ5
The Puff-Puff is more difficult to find than usual in V, and it can only be experienced in the second generation of the game. The player can find the bunny girl in the Coburg item shop at night after defeating the Faux Dowager. At first she will offer her services after saying the Hero 5 is cute, but then retract it on the grounds that he isn't mature enough yet: the player needs to reach Mostroferrato and view the cutscene with Nera Briscoletti before the full Puff-Puff scene will take place. Once that requirement has been met, the bunny girl will tell the Hero 5 to meet her behind Coburg castle the next morning. Humorously, this can be done when the Hero is married and each bride will have very different reactions.

In the western release this scene has been censored, with the bunny girl instead offering to tell the Hero 5's fortune. All three brides still have distinct reactions.

DQ6
Buddy's older sister will offer the Hero 6 a Puff-Puff on the night of the mountain spirit festival, but will tease him if he agrees. In Turnscote, there is a bunny girl in one of the two-story buildings on the right side of town who will give a puff-puff so wonderful it actually increases the puffee's Style by 5.

In the localization done by 8-4, all instances of Puff-Puffs have been censored and replaced with Pattycake Princess. This was likely done at Nintendo's behest, who published the game in North America and Europe.

In all versions of the game, the puff-puff in Turnscote is revealed to be a ruse, with the bunny girl being revealed to have put make-up on the puffee's face and did no actual puff-puffing.

DQ7
After saving the kingdom of Buccanham in the present, the King will offer the player a VIP ticket at the local casino to receive a puff-puff from a woman in the facility. If the player uses the ticket, she will perform a "Puff-Puff", which in this case is her puffing two notes on a horn.

DQ8
The most famous Puff-Puff of the series, players will have to explore the Arcadia region to find the hidden club Le Club Puff-Puff and have the Ultimate Key in possession. All characters can be puffees, though Jessica Albert and Red will have the most distinct reactions in the cutscene.

Jessica learns the Puff-Puff skill by putting 38 points into her Sex Appeal. It can be used by the enemies Witch and Siren, and by the recruitable Infamous Mosnter Hazel (Recruit).

DQ9
In the original Japanese script, a married woman in the inn of Coffinwell offers to give Dr. Phlegming Puff-Puff as thanks for saving her. The English translation renders this offer as "a smooch".

Tuya, a little girl living in the Hunters' Yurts of the Iluugazar Plains will reward players with a Puff-Puff if they assist her by completing Quest #126 for her.

The puffing is a ruse, however; players will hear the baas of sheep as the screen goes dark, and when light returns their heads will be between two smelly sheep rears. A fitting fate for any sickos expecting a real Puff-Puff from a little girl.

DQ10
Various female NPCs offer the Luminary Puff Puff, either for a price, for free or as a reward. The Hero 11 character will get a +5 boost to charm once from the bunny girl in Phnom Nonh. Several of the Puff-Puff scenes in this game allude to previous games (like the father who gives the Puff-Puff in Gallopolis).

Additionally, a bunny girl in The Battleground will offer a free Puff-Puff, lead the Hero 11 to a cliff, ask him to close his eyes and tie his ankles, before pushing him off the cliff only to bungee jump right above the clouds, causing Puff-Puffs of clouds.
In Builders, one of the Masked Thugs in Kol will offer to perform a Puff-Puff upon the builder, which leads to a humorous scene. Additionally, the game references the Puff-Puff scene of Kol during a flashback the Builder experiences while dreaming.

Appearances in Battle
DQ3
The Puff-Puff appears as one of the random actions a Gadabout can perform in the remakes. For female clowns it functions similarly to the rest of the series, but for men it will deal 25% of a normal attack's damage.

DQ6
Puff-Puff is learned by advancing to rank 4 of the Gadabout vocation. For female characters, it incapacitates an enemy for 1~3 turns if successful, while as for male characters it will deal strike damage, being the user's level plus 1~8 rounded up and capping at 50, so the maximum damage range is 51~58.

DQ7
Puff-Puff is once again learned by advancing to rank 4 of the Gadabout vocation and functions the same as it did in VI. In the Version, Lover lamps are capable of using this skill.

DQ8
Jessica can put her feminine assets to use after investing 38 points into her Sex Appeal skill tree. It will attempt to stun a monster for 1~3 turns as usual.

Witchs and Sirens will attempt to immobilize the protagonists with this technique, but it will always fail when used on Jessica. As the game puts it, she wins the battle of the bulges. Furthermore, the enemy loses their next turn out of shame.
*In the remake, the same applies to Red.

DQ9
A much rarer skill in this title, Puff-Puff is an enemy only ability that is used by Morag to stop a party member for a turn.

DQ10
Puff-Puff is the final skill in the Gadabout's Play skill tree, requiring 100 skill points. It costs 6 MP and will incapacitate a single enemy for 7 seconds.

DQ11
Jade will learn to bring her bust to battle for 8 points in her Allure panel. It has no MP cost and will rise in effectiveness the higher her charm is.

Succubats, as well as their Fruity, Vampire, and Supreme counterparts can also use this skill against the player. It is especially effective on Rab and Hendrik.

DQM
Called Ahhh in this game, it requires the monster to reach Level 10 with 60 Attack and 60 Agility. It is naturally learned by the Lipsy.

DQM2
The requirements to learn Ahhh are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the MimeSlime.

}}

The Prince of Midenhall is one of the four playable characters from Dragon Quest II.

He is a descendant of Erdrick who responds to the sudden rising threat of Hargon. He inherited all of his ancestor's physical strength, but unlike his cousins the Prince of Cannock, the Princess of Moonbrooke, and the Princess of Cannock, he cannot use magic, and as such is the only Main Series main hero who doesn't possess any magical ability. The HD-2D remake does give him several non-magical skills however.

The name given to the hero in the Japanese CD theater drama and novelizations is Allen (アレン). For the promotional images of , he is given the name Gawain.

Appearance and Personality
The Hero wears blue for the most part, though the goggles that rest on his helmet are brown. He wears a blue tunic over black form-fitting long-sleeved shirt and pants, blue shoes with light blue socks, and blue gloves. Across his chest is a swordbelt with a scabbard attached to the back. He also wears a brown belt around his waist with a small brown pouch on it and a belt buckle in the shape of Erdrick's symbol. His sword is typical aside from the hand cover built into the hilt, and his shield is adorned with Erdrick's symbol. His hair varies between illustrations, where it's shown to be black in color and trimmed short in older pieces and unkempt silver in later works. In many modern depictions, he is often seen wielding the thunderbolt blade.

Even though the Hero is a silent protagonist and his personality is open for the player to define, a strong sense of justice can be seen in the beginning of the game, as he sets out to stop Hargon and his evil cult without so much as a "But thou must" proposal from the King.

Although the Hero is the only nameable character, he remains equal in stature with his three companions in Dragon Quest II, the Prince of Cannock, the Princess of Moonbrooke, and the Princess of Cannock. All four are descendants of Erdrick. This varies from other games in the series where only the hero is of notable birth compared to his party companions.

In the HD-2D Remake, the Prince is a stoic, yet kind young man. He serves as the emotional rock of the party in contrast to his more emotional cousins. He is diligent and experienced and is a rather muscular fellow, well-immersed in his combat training. Despite this, the Prince appears to have more emotions than he lets on, considering his knowledge of the sacred technique of the Puff-Puff and his experience with delivering powerful Puff-Puffs to his enemies.

Appearances
DQ2
The Prince of Midenhall is the first Luminary that the player controls in the game, responding to news of Hargon's assault on Moonbrooke by setting out to assemble his cousins and take the fight to the mad priest's citadel in the frozen plateau of Rendarak.
This means he is also the only character who has access to the legendary Erdrick's equipment, and as such, should use them when facing Hargon.
While he does not appear in the game physically, he is mentioned several times along with his cousins by various characters, Hargon, his Children, and even the amnesiac Malroth. His clothing can be obtained after the Builder exchanges a certain amount of mini medals to the Hairy Hermit.

DQTreasures
The prince is represented by a statue based on his likeness, being Treasure No. 329 with a base value of 5,000,000

Dragon Quest Monsters +
The Prince appears as a main character during Kleo's venture into Rendarak. He saves the lad from Batmandrills and is astonished that a human can consider monsters as his allies. The Prince displays astounding superhuman strength, breaking through stone barriers and manhandling massive MFamiliess.

Trivia
*He is the only main hero who cannot use magic of any kind.
*In the Japanese version of the game, he is depicted as the tallest of the cousins.
*In the artwork for the American NES version of the game, he is still wearing Erdrick's signature blue armor, but the shield had been changed from blue to red.
Princess Gwaelin is a character in the DQSeries that appears as a major NPC in the original Dragon Quest.

She is the daughter of King Lorik XVI of Tantegel and has been kidnapped by the Dragonlord. During the game, she can be rescued by the Hero 1 as a sidequest. This makes her the one and only sidequest present in the original Dragon Quest.

Appearance and personality
Gwaelin has three distinct designs, the first of which being a traditional princess dressed in a soft-yellow, frilly gown with puffy shoulders, a large sky blue waist ribbon with a blue gem set in a gold pin, and a golden tiara set with one large sapphire adjourned with rubies on both sides.

Her second design, which originated from KDQ, is shown in the Battle Road arcade series, wherein she wears a pink gown with sleeves that extend and split along her mid-forearm, and a white sash along her waist. The third design is seen in DQB, and is a white version of her original dress with a golden trim sewn into it at ankle-height and a different tiara design. In all appearances her necklace stays the same, and her hair is always a faint ginger or light brown.

Gwaelin is a young woman well trained in the etiquette expected of her standing, and her optimism is utterly indomitable no matter how grim the situation. This aspect of her is highlighted in Builders, where her resolve spurs the people of the rebuilt Tantegel into action. The princess is prone to bouts of girly glee when she is happy, to the point that she'll even audibly squeak when particularly pleased. She is, however, still a princess, and will not take no for an answer under any circumstances--trapping the player in an endless dialogue loop and pouting until she gets her way. When rescued by the Hero in the original game, she immediately falls head over heels for her savior.

In the HD-2D Remake, Gwaelin's personality is expanded upon. She has a strong-willed resolve, refusing to capitulate to the Mirage's deceptions and still choosing to hold out for the Hero. As a servant of Rubiss, Gwaelin is able to call upon Rubiss' power to aid him, frequently doing so to help him on his quest.
start

The Hero 1 may rescue Gwaelin during his quest to defeat the Dragonlord, though this is not a requirement to complete the game. She is located inside the Quagmire Cave south of Kol which connects to the southeastern continent. In order to rescue Gwaelin, the Hero 1 must fight and defeat a ferocious Green dragon that guards her (rather lavish) cell. This monster is not visible on the dungeon map screen, but rather is triggered when the Hero 1 steps on a specific tile (similar to the Golem which guards Cantlin). If the Dragonlord is defeated prior to the Princess' rescue, she will still be in her cell and able to be rescued, though the Green dragon will not be present.

After rescuing the princess, the Hero 1 carries her back to her father at Tantegel castle. A sprite showing the Hero 1 carrying Gwaelin is used at this time. In the remakes of the game, the Dragonlord has a special reaction if she is being carried when the Hero 1 confronts him. He laughs heartily at the absurdity, and 'thanks' the Hero 1 for his kindness in bringing the Princess to him.

At Tantegel Castle, Gwaelin gives the Hero 1 an item called the 'Princess Pledge' which tells the Hero 1 his exact distance from Tantegel on the map of Alefgard at the time it is used. It is useful in finding the Mark of Erdrick later in the game. While at the castle, her highness occupies the empty space next to her father in the throne room. When spoken to in the NES Version, she asks the Hero 1 if he loves her. Answering yes triggers the short love music to play.

If the Hero 1 rescued Gwaelin during the game, then she will be present during the ending and join the protagonist on his journey to establish his own kingdom. The Hero 1 will again carry the lass away as he leaves Alefgard after defeating the Dragonlord. If the Hero 1 is already carrying her when the ending begins, the result is much the same, though a single line of dialogue is different.

Eventually she and The Hero 1 get married and settle in Torland. They have three children, who establish the kingdoms of Midenhall, Cannock, and Moonbrooke. 100 years later, their descendants become the heroes of Dragon Quest II. Also, a tunnel leading from Cannock to Moonbrooke was named after her.
The princess is an NPC in the final chapter of the game, having recited a charm to turn herself to stone in order to escape the agony of her Hero's betrayal and the despair the Dragonlord wrought once he blacked out the sky and banished the basics of building from those living in Alefgard. Gwaelin remained in stasis for approximately 100 years until the Builder revives her with a phial of Holy water. When spoken to in the first section of the chapter, she will restore the builder's HP.

Unlike other characters in the game, the princess immediately recognizes the player as the legendary builder and encourages them throughout the chapter. She dutifully prays that Rubiss bestow her blessing upon the builder, which allows the goddess' voice to penetrate the miasma covering the land and speak with the player directly. Just prior to her awakening, she received a vision from Rubiss telling her that three sages will need to join her in Tantegel, uniting three divine artifacts to restore the land. These sages are the principal npcs of the previous chapters.

Through the final chapter Rubiss disheartens the Builder from confronting Dragonlord, as the builder is not a hero. The princess, however, keeps encouraging the builder to free the Alefgardian people from Dragonlord's rule. The builder going against her wishes annoys Rubiss to the point she stops giving them protection. After the final confrontation with the Dragonlord, the princess thanks the builder for their efforts and the game ends.
Belial is a major antagonist from Dragon Quest II and recurring MFamilies in the DQSeries.

He is a more powerful version of the archdemon and the last in a trio of bosses the Luminaries must face as they climb Hargon's tower. Later games would use the monster as a species instead of a specific individual, similar to his fellow cultist Pazuzu.

Characteristics
Belial is a large yellow demon carrying a purple pitchfork. He has a large snout, and blue wings, the latter of which he uses to fly.

In the HD-2D Remake of II, Belial is a battle-hungry demon who enjoys receiving punishment as much as he does giving it. He views the Scions of Erdrick as worthy opponents to him, and once they best him, he acknowledges their efforts and hopes for them to get stronger so that he can have a better battle with them. However, Belial's respect towards both them and Dream-Whisperer is a way of establishing his ego and might as well as his lust for battle over them. He wastes no time killing a Midnight manguini and a Goyling for disobeying his and Hargon's commands to recruit the Dragonlord's great-grandson, but often refrains from directly insulting his opponents.

Belial regards himself as superior to his fellow Champions, and generally has no qualms snitching them out, particularly Mariella, whom he dislikes for her chaotic and arrogant nature. He tells the Scions of Erdrick of her invasion of the mermaid realm and even warns them about her unscrupulous nature.

132.205.229.44:

The Children of Hargon <!--ハーゴン教団, Hāgon kyōdan, Hargon Cult--> is the collective name for the enemies of Dragon Quest II and Dragon Quest Builders II. Lead by the eponymous leader, it is an apocalyptic cult dedicated to summoning the god of destruction into the world.
Appearances
DQ2
Though unnamed in their debut title, the sect nevertheless plays a critical role in the game's plot. Beginning with the opening sequence depicting the siege of Castle Moonbrooke, the Children of Hargon start their jihad on the peaceful world by spreading as much destruction and misery as possible. This culminates in the Scions of Erdrick raiding their fortress hidden away in the frozen hellscape of Rendarak.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
The cult is the primary antagonistic force and oppose the Builder at every turn. As described in their doctrine, members are duty-bound to destroy any and all structures they come across and to prevent the creation of new things. Many of the followers are hypocritical in their actions and will request that others outside the faith repair and create things for them.

The cult is comprised of both human followers and monster followers, though many of the human followers were simply forced into the fold under threat of death. Many of the conscripted cultists are easily convinced to abandon their faith when the Builder saves them from squalor.

Many lower ranking members of the cult incorrectly believed that their faith would stave off their destruction upon the revival of the god of destruction. Unlike his original goal, to create a world into his ideal vision, Hargon now simply wanted to destroy everything permanently as revenge for his death at the hands of the Scions of Erdrick.

Dragon Quest Tact
Known as the Order of Hargon in this entry, they reprise their villainous roles for the Dragon Quest II event, serving as enemies while Mindini is transformed into a dog instead of Peronel. A Gremlin and a Madusa also have Battle Road side stories detailing their jobs in the Order until after facing off with two of the Trinity the High Priest summoned, resulting in their desertion.

Insidious iconography
The Children of Hargon bear the mark of a black bat with a sinister smile. In Builders 2, the emblem on the Hoods and Hoodlums’ capes is white. Note that due to monster designs (and entire sprites in some cases) being brought forward from II into sequels and spin-off titles, this does not imply that some faction of the cult happens to exist in that particular setting.

Known members
*Hargon (Leader)

Hargon's Champions:
*Belial
*Pazuzu
*Atlas
*Mariella

In addition to the profane pontiff and his champions, the flock of fiends consists of the following enemies:
*Archdemon
*Chasmonaut
*Deadnaut
*Gargoyle
*Grimlin
*Spirit
*Whackolyte
*Wrecktor

The HD-2D Remake also has several boss monsters that are under the command of both Hargon himself and his Champions.
*Brute bat
*Goyling
*Lumpfather
*Midnight manguini

Additionally, Dragon Quest Builders 2 features several distinct individual followers of the cult that the Builder encounters:
Stub
* Adamn
* Pastor Al
The abracadabrer is a recurring MFamilies in the DQSeries, first appearing in remake versions of Dragon Quest III.

They are formerly human wizards who have sold their souls in exchange for their prodigious magical power.

Characteristics
Abracadabrers resemble prestidigitators but have ditched the grey robes for red with dark indigo belts tied around their waists. They have grey hands and yellow eyes glowing from their hoods. The abracadabrers are the highest ranking spellcasters of their order, and as such they are capable of using magic of immense power.
Abracadabrer appeared as a rare card exclusive for Demon Swordsman leaders in the 4th card pack, "Tales of Powerful Monsters".

Etymology
*Abracadabrer's name is derived from the term "abracadabra", an incantation used as a magic word in various tricks and stage magic. Historically, it was believed to have healing powers when inscribed on an amulet. The word may have its origins in the Aramaic language.
Zoma's Citadel is the name of the final dungeon in DQ3.

It is located in the central area of Alefgard, across the water to the southeast of Tantegel.
Upon the death of the demonlord, the citadel's foundation still stands and would go on to be the nest of evil for future generations.

Appearances
DQ3
Ruled by Zoma, it is also the place where Ortega meets his death at the hands of the King Hydra. The citadel itself is only the on the surface of the island, with the rest of the structure being a massive catacomb. The Hero 3 and Party 3 must search behind the false throne on the first floor to enter the underground chambers, but before that they must defeat a gauntlet of six Stone guardians in the central hall.

The second floor is split between two maps, the first of which is a dead end and can be entered from several stairwells on the first floor. The path to Zoma through the second map is through the stairwell behind the throne, and leads to a directional panel puzzle similar to the ones seen in the Tower of Rubiss.

The third floor is where the player will witness the death of Ortega, and also houses a large vault of treasure. It is a linear path aside from this, with all other rooms being empty. The lowest floor of the citadel is a sacrificial dias set before a narrow walk way surrounded by inky black water, menacing statues, and sconces. Zoma sits on his throne at the end of the walk way, and taunts the player before the King Hydra attacks. Once the reptile is killed, the devil summons the corpse and doppleganger of Baramos to kill the Hero 3.

After Zoma's death, the citadel begins to collapse and the Party 3 is pulled into the abyss. After a short cutscene the group is flung out of the basement floor of the Cave Northwest of Tantegel.
The ceiling for each floor within the citadel has been raised to account for Zoma now being depicted as a giant, and each floor accumulates a denser and denser layer of ice as the player nears the Altar of Sacrifice. A teleportal connecting the final floor to the entrance has been added for player convenience, and there are two friendly monsters waiting to be recruited. Once Zoma is killed the entrance to the citadel will collapse but the structure itself will remain, alluding to the future darkness set to plague Alefgard.

Ortega's last stand will have different dialogue if the Hero has equipped the Auroral Helm, where feeling the touch of his old helmet allows him to recognize his child before succumbing to his wounds.
Upon the death of the demonlord, the citadel's foundation still stands and would go on to be the nest of evil for future generations.
