<center>A gifted young girl who wields powerful offensive spells. Fearless and a bit of a tomboy, she will stand up to anyone, be they an adult or even a fearsome monster.</center>

Veronica (ベロニカ, Beronika) is a character in Dragon Quest XI. She is a brash, prodigal mage who wields offensive spells and comes from the land of Arboria. Both she and her twin sister, Serena, are Keepers who have sworn themselves to protect and aid the Luminary on his journey.

Appearance & Personality
Veronica appears to be a very young girl with light skin, indigo-colored eyes, and long blonde hair with a fringe worn in two braids, tied in orange hairbands at the ends. She wears a long red wizard's hat, a red dress with a large red bow in the front over a cream-colored smock with puffed sleeves, blue bracelets, and purple leather shoes with orange socks. She also carries a very large wand topped with a red orb that is much taller than her.

She is a strong-willed magical prodigy, but hates being treated like a child. This is due to the fact that Veronica is actually older than she appears, but after an encounter in Hotto with monsters serving the Lord of Shadows, her appearance was transformed into that of a young girl and she temporarily lost her magical powers. With the aid of the Luminary and Erik, Veronica was able to rescue her sister Serena and defeat the monster who stole her powers, Jarvis, but she did not return to her true age. Despite her displeasure at her childish form, Veronica enjoys getting piggyback rides from Hendrik due to his height, something that she wouldn't be able to do normally.

Although she has an abrasive personality and frequently clashes with others, Veronica has a kind heart and frequently worries about her younger twin due to Serena's haplessness. Since the two sisters traveled alone for some time, Veronica enjoys sitting around the campfire with her companions, especially watching Serena perform with her harp. Due to her sworn mission to protect the Luminary, she has a tendency to be hard on others, but is particularly hard on herself and holds herself to the highest standards. Her favorite type of food is spicy and her most prized possession is the flute that she received from the elder of Arboria. She relieves stress by arguing with Erik. Veronica's ambition is to become a magic teacher when peace is achieved.

Veronica and her twin sister Serena are the descendants of the ancient sage Serenica, who accompanied the original Luminary Erdwin on his journey against the Dark One. The two hail from the land of Arboria and are Keepers, a group of people dedicated to protecting the Luminary and helping him fight against the evils of Erdrea. The two girls have known since birth that they would aid the Luminary on his journey, eventually setting out from their hometown after the Elder of Arboria received a vision that the Luminary had reappeared in the world. She dies at the end of the first part of the game while protecting her sister and friends from the destruction of Yggdrasil.

Veronica is a mage, being capable of casting an array of powerful offensive spells in battle, including the Frizz, Sizz, Bang, and the majority of the Crack series of spells, as well as access to some useful utility spells such as Sap and Decelerate. However, she has some of the lowest max HP and Resilience in battle, so care must be taken that she does not fall victim to the enemy's attacks in battle. Her weapons of choice are heavy wands and whips and her equipment is limited to robes and other pieces of clothing and hats for spellcasters.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Veronica appears as a DLC costume for the Mii Swordfighter.

Etymology
Veronica is the Latin alteration of the name Berenice, a name which means "bringing victory". The spelling of Veronica is influenced by the Latin phrase vera icon, which means true image, possibly referring to Veronica's transformation and her true fate. Veronica is the name of a saint who lived in Jerusalem in the 1st century AD who famously wiped Jesus's face with a cloth and then found his image imprinted on it. It became a popular girls' name in medieval times due to this legend. It was not common in modern times until the 19th century, when the name was brought from France and Scotland.

The word vim is an antiquated adjective that describes someone as being very lively and full of high energy.

Trivia
* Veronica and Serena can be seen as parallels to the sisters Maya and Meena from Dragon Quest IV:
** Veronica and Maya are users of offensive magic, while Serena and Meena use restorative and defensive magic.
** The two pairs share near identical appearances (although Maya and Meena are not twins). Veronica and Maya have fringes in their hair, while Meena and Serena do not.
** The personalities and temperaments of both pairs of sisters are very different from each other. Veronica and Maya are brash, impulsive, and fiery, while Serena and Meena are more level-headed.
** Veronica is the older of the two twins and Maya is a few years older than Meena.
* Veronica is the party member who levels up the fastest, and she will often be ahead of the other characters.
** This is to compensate her complete absence in Act 2, as well as so she can learn more skills to be passed on to Serena during the tail end of Act 2 when Serena gets Veronica's entire skillset.
* She is able to dress like Stella and High Priestess Jacqueline by equipping certain pieces of armor.
* Veronica is the only party member who has the same name in the original Japanese and English versions of the game.
* In her child form, Veronica is 110 cm tall, or 3 feet and 7 inches.
* In the international fan poll for Dragon Quest XI released by Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Veronica was voted the second most popular female character in the game and the fourth overall, with a total of 506 votes.
* When she is afflicted with Sultry Dance in battle, Veronica will perform the can-can.
* Each of the Luminary's companions represents one of the classes in Dragon Quest III. Veronica represents the mage.
Elys is an infant dragon that was born under unusual circumstances in DQTreasures.
Characteristics
Elys resembles a fiery dragling in general shape, but possesses white skin speckled with purple spots, red eyes, and several crystalline protrusions from the forearm, head, shoulders, and tail. Elys does not speak due to being a newborn, communicating via gesture and mewling instead. Elys is never referred to as being of either sex, instead being addressed by name or in passing as a baby dragon: it's theme is simply that of "newborn life" in the broadest sense.
Appearances
DQTreasures
Elys is the result of the seven dragonstones being combined into one by Long John Silverbones at the sacred altar on La Isla Dorada. At first the pirate is irritated that his fabled treasure of treasures is "Ts but the seven stones stuck together!", but after he is defeated by Erik and Mia the siblings glimpse a sudden vision of the Maneland and the the Paternoggin. The children hold their dragon daggers over head and suddenly channel an incredible influx of magical energy from all of Draconia, transforming the seven dragonstones into an egg to reveal what truly is the treasure of treasures: life itself.

The egg hatches instantly to reveal Elys, who purrs happily at seeing the blue-haired brother and sister. Erik thinks Elys is cute, but Porcus and Purrsula are worried that their mission to retrieve the dragonstones may not go over so well if the stones no longer exist. The junior gods realize they have no choice but to bring Elys to their home, the Garden of the Gods, as proof of their adventure in Draconia, but in doing so they would have to bid Erik and Mia farewell. As the children would have no way of returning home without the help of Porcus and Purrsula, the junior gods take the pair back to Eggshell Island for a farewell party before departing from the world at La Isla Dorada: upon placing their dragon daggers on the plinths in the island, the children lose the ability to understand the speech of their friends. Elys watches as Purrsula and Porcus use their magic to summon a small flying boat to ferry the children back home, and then ascends into the heavens along with them as the junior gods cast off their animal disguises to reveal forms similar to the infant's own.

In the post-game it is revealed that Porcus and Purrsula are still in hot water with the elder gods, and have been tasked with collecting 50 iconic-class treasures that a bumbling god had accidentally lost on Draconia in order to make amends. Furthermore, the duo have been tasked with taking care of the newly-christened Elys: the hatchling will remain at the base on Eggshell Island until the 50 iconic treasures have been collected, at which point Elys can be added to the party like any other monster. Elys has some of the best stats in the game and is able to carry more treasure than any other pint-sized monster, with a steel-trap grip to boot.
Etymology
*Elys is a name found in the English, Greek, and hebrew languages that is derived from the mythical Greek Elysium fields, the paradise awaiting heroes in the afterlife. The Japanese name, エンゼルゴン ("Angelgon"), is a combination of the English words angel and dragon

Trivia
*It is strongly implied that Elys is the manifestation of Madra and Padra's unfulfilled desire to birth a child during their life time. The glow in the eye sockets of the skulls in the Maneland and Paternoggin signify their awakening, and the bands of energy shooting forth from all over Draconia represent the lovers' magic condensing into a single point. Furthermore, the dragonstones all correspond to the anatomy of a dragon, hence assembling the whole set creates a foundation to channel the spectral serpents' magic into a physical form
Porcus (トンブー, Tonbū ) is a character from DQTreasures. He joins Erik and Mia in their treasure-hunting quest alongside his sister Purrsula.
Appearance and personality
Porcus looks like a small, lime green pig with butterfly-like wings, but this is a facade: he and his sister are in fact junior gods who must hide their true form while on their coming-of-age test. He describes his real body as being rather handsome, but Purrsula writes him off as a brutish galoot despite having a similar form herself.

He is the more even-tempered of the twins and takes a fancy to Mia, accompanying her when she ventures out from Eggshell Island and advising her on the adventure. He likes to lay atop her head when the two are at rest.

Appearances
DQTreasures
Porcus and Purrsula are junior gods who hail from The Garden of the Gods, a world separate from Erdrea and Draconia. The two are tasked with retrieving the Seven Stones from the floating archipelago and were ordered by their elder gods to conceal their forms during this mission, with their current appearance taken from the mundane animals they saw while travelling Erdrea (albeit with the addition of wings). The siblings are captured by vikings prior to the beginning of the game and are kept locked up in a cage suspended from the main mast of one of a ship, before being freed by Erik at Mia's insistence upon seeing their pitiful state. The vikings spot the children freeing the misfortunate gods and the quartet flees in a small boat, sailing to an uncharted island with a shrine housing two gorgeous knives on crystalline plinths. Erik and Mia yank the shivs from their housing and activate a teleportal that pulls all four into the world of Draconia whilst separating them.

Mia and Porcus awaken in a holding cell within the Thunderous Plunderers' encampment, with the little girl now able to understand Porcus' speech thanks to the magic of her new dagger. The two escape the cell with the help of a cutie slime named Oozabella and make their way through the encampment to find Erik and Purrsula, following their trail to the abandoned factory at the top of The Paternoggin.

The junior gods explain their predicament and ask for the children to help them, undertaking a treasure-hunting extravaganza that takes the quartet all across Draconia. Their adventure culminates on La Isla Dorada in a battle against the dreaded pirate Long John Silverbones for the seven gems, resulting in the dragonstones merging together to create an egg that hatches into a baby dragon named Elys. Porcus and Purrsula are flabbergasted at this turn of events as their elders never said anything about the seven stones creating new life, but never the less they must present the fruits of their labors to the gods for judgement. Porcus and his sister bid the children a heartfelt goodbye as the y guide them back to Erdrea, losing the ability to communicate as the dragon daggers are placed back on the mysterious plinths connecting the two worlds. Porcus and Purrsula assume their true forms and take Elys with them to the realm of the gods, never to be seen again...

...Until a few days pass and the woe-begotten junior gods are sent hurtling back to Erdrea from their home like a pair of meteorites. A quick boat ride and retrieval of the dragon daggers later, and the two explain to Erik and Mia that the superior gods were none too pleased at the chain of events, and tossed the pair back out on the order of amassing no less than fifty iconic-grade treasures before being allowed to return home. With no one better to turn to for help, the quartet reforms and sets out on another adventure.

Trivia
*Despite his sister calling him a brute, Porcus is rather handy at tidying up and was the one to fix up the display room on Eggshell Island
Gameplay
The main goal of the game is to obtain the rare treasures scattered throughout Draconia and assert the blue-eyed brother and sister as the ultimate treasure hunters--no less than 777 precious possessions are hidden away in the fabled floating islands. To track these down, the player can freely explore the world with the help of the monsters they scout. Thanks to the Fortune Finder skill and the travelling traits of their new friends, Erik and Mia can find hidden treasures all over Draconia. Using the Fortune Finder allows the siblings to see what their monster partners see, which allows them to easily locate loot the player would otherwise miss. Each monster's vision is different, for instance the vision from a restless armour is obstructed by the visor of its helmet, while a dracky sees in monochrome.

The combat is action based and takes place in real-time, with the player controlling one of the children at a time while AI handles up to three monsters help defeat the foes. Erik and Mia can fight up close and personal with their newly acquired dragon daggers or pick enemies off at a distance by shooting them with catapult pellets that offer a variety of effects ranging from elemental damage, healing and buffing allies, and inflicting status ailments.

Sometimes rival treasure-hunting gangs will appear in the field and challenge the player over their loot, while others will attempt to raid the player's base on Eggshell Island.

Taming monsters is divided in two steps: scouting the monster, which can happen randomly after defeating it and be influenced by certain catapult pellets to a degree, and paying the monster it's fee in order to properly hire it by the Trans-Draconic Railway Company the children ally with. Each monster requires different items or gold as their fee! After both steps are completed, the monster joins the group.

The game offers a range of multiplayer facilities thanks to the assistance of AL4N the diplo-bot, who will guide players when communicating online. Treasures can be hidden for other players to find, monsters can be sent off to aid friends or be headhunted via ID codes, and tours of treasure vaults can be taken.

is a Main Series spin-off. It was first released for the Nintendo Switch in December 2022, and for PC via Steam in July 2023. Like Dragon Quest XI, it is Steam Deck verified.

First teased as a new Dragon Quest Monsters title, Dragon Quest Treasures was officially announced during the Dragon Quest 35th anniversary livestream on May 27, 2021. It is produced by Taichi Inuzuka, producer of all Dragon Quest Monsters games since the original Joker. On June 28, 2022 it was announced that the game would release for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 9 of the same year.

The game stars Dragon Quest XI characters Erik and Mia as children, who go on a treasure-hunting adventure. Described as a role-playing game in marketing materials, Treasuress gameplay borrows from action games such as the 3D Super Mario titles.. The player must find loot scattered across the game's locations and return to the base in order to increase the vault's value and expand the base. A variety of well-meaning monsters can be recruited -three can be with the player at a time-. These friendly monsters can help the young heroes traverse the fields, glide, or scale, among other things.

Story
The story follows young Erik and Mia who live viking ship dreaming of exploring the world and finding great treasures. One fateful night, the pair encounters two strange creatures: Purrsula and Porcus. Later, the siblings are transported into the land of Draconia, where they will need to search for the seven Dragonstones that lead to the fabled Treasure of Treasures. Along the way the children will encounter cut-throat pirates lead by a ruthless skeleton captain, an archaeological research expedition from a distant land at the behest of a curious princess, and the three remaining employees of a once proud train company all too eager to ask the siblings for help in rebuilding their business.

Erdrick's sword is the fabled blade wielded by the mythical Hero, passed on to his descendants to keep the realm of Alefgard free from terror. It is a one-handed longsword with a golden center and hilt that resembles a phoenix, set with a red gemstone. The grip appears to be a blue fabric, and the counter weight is a gold sphere encasing a red jewel.
Prior to becoming part of the legendary Hero's heraldry, this blade was known as the Sword of Kings.
}}
The legendary blade is found in Dragonlord's Castle, off of the path to the Dragonlord. Equipping it grants the player +40 Attack, a substantial boost from the Flame sword's +28, though unlike the Flame sword it can neither do extra damage nor be used as a tool in combat. Certain third-party documentation claims that the sword is the only weapon that can cut the despot's scales, but this is completely false. That being said, it is strongly advised to acquire the blade to make the final confrontation much easier.
The sword is once again found in the Dragonlord's Castle, left there by the previous Hero 1. Unlike the armour, no one has attempted to restore the sword to its original glory, and the +40 Attack bonus means it will not be effective during the game's finale.

The sword can only be equipped by the Prince of Midenhall in the NES, while the Prince of Cannock can also equip the sword in the SFC and all ports of the remake after.
Whoever pre-ordered the Nintendo 3DS Version of the game in Japan obtained the code to download Erdrick's sword. In game, the sword must be reforged in the Alchemy Pot to reach its true potential. Ye Olde Sword of Erdrick became available to download for international players on February 24, 2017. It has an attack bonus of +20 and can be equipped by the Hero 8, as well as Jessica Albert and Red if they have enough skill points in Knives. After the sword has been reforged, Erdrick's sword has an Attack bonus of +120, being second to the Dragovian king sword and the most powerful sword for both Jessica and Red.
}}
Mr Euston (トマソン, Tomason) is a character from DQTreasures. He is the chairman, chief engineer, and station master of the Trans-Draconic Railway Company.

He is a light-grey restless armor who supervises the trains in Draconia. Mr Euston wears a purple uniform with golden accents, and its matching hat. He also carries a whistle and a red bag.
Appearances
DQTreasures
Mr Euston was an employee of the T.D.R.C. in it's heyday, working under the company founder Mr Stephenson at the headquarters on Eggshell Island. Though he was ignorant of the cause, he was present when the spectral bloodlines intertwining the islands that the company cars ran on were destroyed and could do nothing to prevent the company from going under when the trains became inoperable. The situation turned even more dire as Mr Stephenson passed way from the heartache of the disaster, with every employee but himself, Miss Cecily, and Mr Muddimer resigning from their positions. The trio would not give in to despair, however, and remained ever hopeful that they could restore the company to it's former glory one day.

This hope would manifest when two blue-haired, blue-eyed children named Erik and Mia would stumble into the world of Draconia from Erdrea, and find themselves at Eggshell Island after one of the derelict trains suddenly began to operate all on its own in their presence. Mr Euston would be the first to greet the newcomers and, upon learning of their situation and their eagerness for treasure hunting, offered them a deal: they would have free reign of the facilities on Eggshell Island, even being allowed to rename it, in exchange for helping revitalize the bloodlines connecting the islands of Draconia and getting the corporate machine up and running again.

Mr Euston would come to be reunited with his former employer by the time the player restores the train stations on Cinderback Ridge, the Hinterquarters, the Maneland, and the Wingswept Moors: he will notify the children that he has received a letter claiming to be from the late Mr Stephenson that requests an audience with the two at the forsaken station. This unrealized train station lies on Lickspittle Grove, which is the underside of the Paternoggin and can be accessed via the Thunderous Plunderers' camp. The children will indeed meet the ghost of Mr Stephenson, now a shadow minister doomed to wander between this life and the next due to his unfulfilled goals. The bag of bones humbly requests that the children fufil his dream and accomplish what he could not, establishing a complete circuit across Draconia by activating the forsaken station.

Porcus and Purrsula speak with Mr Euston while Erik and Mia energize the station, allowing a car carrying every station master to arrive. Mr Euston and the others announce that they've been hard at work upgrading the locomotives, and now they've perfected the design into an engine powerful enough to make a complete circuit across the islands. Mr Stephenson is besides himself in gratitude and begins to ascend to the heavens now that his dream is fulfilled, being saluted by Mr Euston. The restless armour then turns and thanks the children for all they've done to help get the T.D.R.C up and running at full capacity once more, and gives them a model train while affirming that the brother and sister will always have the support of the station masters.

Trivia
His appearance and mannerisms are extremely similar to the Conductor, a character in the manga and anime series Galaxy Express 999.
