It doesn't seem like there's any actual time limit in the remake. I keep going up and down the stairs and I never see any villagers throwing in their flames except at scripted moments. Maetch (talk) 23:22, 14 April 2023 (EDT)

Putric Stinkenheimer is a boss in the DQSeries that was introduced in DQ7.

It is one of four monsters that the player encounters in the Alltrades Abbey 7 region.

Characteristics
As a Walking Corpse, Putric is about what one would expect from such a creature: slow, smelly, and dim-witted. However, he has enough brains left over to give himself a distinctive outfit and a ridiculous name. He works with The Mighty Pip and his bandits as they lurk the empty area to the southwest of Alltrades Abbey 7 that Pilgrim’s Perdition was once built upon and prey on travelers. At one point, Putric steals the Canny cap from Professor Wade and uses its brain-boosting magic to make himself the new boss of the bandits, but he is made to give back the cap on the insistence of the Hero 7 and his party.

The Golden Pickaxe is, as one might surmise, a pickaxe with a golden sheen. It is said to be able to break down any barricade no matter its might.

DQ6
The Golden Pickaxe is located in Destiny's Drop and is required to proceed through the tunnels leading to the summit by destroying rock walls on the path. It is also used in Castle Graceskull to find the hidden passage into the underground cavern beneath the castle, where the Armour of Orgo is located.

DQ11
The Golden Pickaxe is a bonus item only found in the 3DS and Definitive versions of DQ11, as a reward for completing the Tickington quest "Fogeys Just Wanna Have Fun". It grants an extra material drop when mining ore deposits.

The Big Book of Beasts (given in quotes with 'the' being part of the name, originally Monster Book) is a recurring item in the DQSeries.

It is an optional item that keeps track of nearly all the MFamiliess players can encounter in the game the book appears in. It first appeared in DQ7.

Uses
Obtaining the book is purely optional and not a requirement to beat the game. It is essentially a convenience for the player, showing all MFamiliess (with some exceptions between games) the player has fought while listing other statistics like the amount of EXP awarded and how many of that particular MFamilies the player has defeated, and even display the MFamiliess' battle animations. Defeating a large number of a single kind of MFamilies will usually result in a minor reward for that monsters page, such as showing more of its animations and revealing what items it drops if the player has yet to obtain any from the MFamilies in question.

Starting with Dragon Quest VIII, the book also features short descriptions of MFamiliess as well, describing various attributes such as habitat, species family, and natural behavior. Often times these descriptions will allude to resistances or weaknesses of a particular monster, giving clever players an edge in battle.

Appearances
DQ4
Absent from the original game; handed to the main character at the start of DQ4 Chapter 5 by his/her adopted father in the remakes shortly before the village is sacked by monsters. Note that it will include performance data from the first four chapters.

Encountering each MFamilies will result in the player being awarded 250,000 tokens for the casino in Endor and Pioneer Town.

DQ5
Absent from the original, the book can be purchased at the curiosity shop sometime after the first purchase is made for a wagon. Unlike in Dragon Quest IV, the book does not track bosses.

DQ6
Absent from the original, the book is obtained in a chest in Haggleton after buying the Thief's Key (the original version of the game had a Scale shield in the chest). As with Dragon Quest V, the book doesn't track bosses.

DQ7
The first appearance of the book, where it is a reward (in the Present) for winning the guessing game in L'Arca's animal appreciation festival. Completing the book in both the PS2 version and the Nintendo 3DS remake will grant the reward of a Gospel ring.

Though not named as such, the functions of the book were integrated into the Battle Records menu. Sorting options based on
DQ11
The functions of the book are incorporated into the Info menu. Eliminating a Vicious or Malicious version of a monster will fill in any missing entries for their weaker variants.
DQ6
Absent from the original, the book is obtained in a chest in Haggleton after buying the Thief's Key (the original version of the game had a Scale shield in the chest). As with Dragon Quest V, the book doesn't track bosses.
The Walking corpse is a recurring monster in the DQSeries, introduced in Dragon Quest II.

Description
The walking corpse is a reanimated corpse, part of the Zombie family. They have wild, unkempt grey hair, rotting clothes, and have a trail of drool from their open mouths. Their right eyes are closed, while the left is bulging slightly. The walking corpses also have their hands up in a stereotypical zombie pose. It is usually the first undead monster fought in the game. In some games, the walking corpse has a poison attack, poisoning one party member when it hits.

Typically, the walking corpse will high much higher HP than the other monsters in it's area but also paltry defence. This is a reference to how difficult it is to incapacitate a zombie in horror fiction, despite the body being as soft and vulnerable as rotting flesh can be.

Walking corpses have a ghastly speech quirk wherein they wail, elongating certain vowel sounds as they maintain an inconsistent pitch and tone, represented by randomly mixed majuscule and minuscule letters in dialogue. They also have genders despite appearing as male, as each member of the Delmorgue family demonstrates in Dragon Quest XI with one of the female members even lampshading it by saying that she is obviously a girl despite it clearly being not obvious.
The Walking corpse in Dragon Quest VI and its remakes has a slightly different visual design and pose than their appearances in other Dragon Quest games, despite sharing the same name, which is actually a rather uncommon occurrence for a recurring monster in the DQ series.

It's speculated this was done to facilitate creating animations for him, as Dragon Quest VI was the first game in the series to give monsters animations. With the new pose appearing somewhat more aggressive it was probably easier to display the monster attacking than it would have been with the more eccentrically posed classic design.

However, starting with the Super Famicom remake of Dragon Quest III and all later games, he returned to his original pose from Dragon Quest II. Animations became much more detailed starting with the remake of III, so its likely the developers became more comfortable and proficient at the task of developing unique animations for each monster, shedding the need to recklessly modify classic monster designs, which could disappoint their loyal fans. However, the remakes of VI kept his unique pose, going so far as to give it brand new animations and official artwork, even though they could have simply reused his appearance and animations from the DS remake of V, probably out of faithfulness and respect to the original version of VI and its fans.

At one point, Putric steals the Canny cap from Professor Wade and make himself the new boss of the bandits, but he is made to give back the cap on the insistence of the Hero 7 and his party.
Strategy
Putric has an annoying Poison Breath attack that can cause Envenomation to a target. Plus, he has Muscle Dance, which can hit every member of the party. However, it is recommended to take out Putric third.
}}
Zoom (ルーラ, Ruura, Ruler), is a recurring spell in the DQSeries that allows for instantaneous transportation to previously visited locales. The amount of MP it costs tends to change from game to game, but the functionally remains the same. With one exception, Zoom cannot be used indoors.

Appearances
DQ
Zoom is learned at level 13, and requires 8 MP to use. In all versions of the game, Zoom only returns the player back to Tantegel Castle.

DQ2
Zoom is learned by The Prince of Cannock at Level 10. In the original versions of the game, Zoom would only return the party to the location where they last saved their game. This was remedied in the Cell phone versions, and now the player can choose from a list of towns and locations, provided they visited them once. It costs 8 MP to use in the original versions, 6 MP in the GBC Version, and 1 MP in the Cell phone remake.

DQ3
Zoom is learned by the Hero 3 at Level 7, and both Mages & Sages at level 12. This is the first installment that allowed players to choose where they wanted to go with Zoom, setting the standard for future Main Series games.

Using the spell or Chimaera wing will reset the time to day.

The Hero can learn it in battle with the use of a glitch, though to use it prevents the spell from being learned in the field.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai
Zoom is a technique in which a spellcaster (typically a Mage, Sage or Hero) releases mana from their entire body, surrounding them in a white aura and causing them to fly at high speed towards a location they are familiar with. Aside from being a means of fast travel, short-range Zoom spells can also be used for quick repositioning in combat.

A caster with sufficient mastery of Zoom can perform the Levizoom (JP: Toberuura) technique, which allows slower, fully-controllable flight and does not require calling a spell name.

DQ4
Zoom is learned by the Hero 4 at Level 7, Borya at Level 9, and Maya at level 8, and is already known by the Psaro 9 upon joining. Note that the destination list resets after each chapter.

Additionally, an NPC Minidemon attempts to use the spell to chase Torneko Taloon from Pharos Beacon to Porthtrunnel, but bumps his head, falls and becomes unconscious.

|-
|Starkers||40
|}

The Hero 5 learns Zoom after helping Prof. Toilen Trubble with his research in the town of Zoomingale, and this event is required to advance the plot. None of the other party members that can learn the spell are encountered until after this. The spell is used as a plot device at certain events, such as if the Hero marries Nera or Debora, and is later used by his daughter to carry him home after rescuing him. This marks the first installment that used a spell as a plot event.

DQ6
Zoom is learned by Ashlynn and the Hero 6 at Level 8, and by Mercury at Level 5. Other characters can learn it by advancing to either rank 3 of the Mage vocation or rank 4 of the Liquid metal slime vocation.

In the Nintendo DS Version, after unlocking access to Alltrades Abbey 6, the spell can be upgraded by Madame Luca Luminista to enable warping between worlds.

DQ7
Zoom is learned through the same method as in VI.

DQ8
The Hero 8 learns this spell after investing 8 points into his "Courage" skill. It costs 1 MP to cast.

DQ9
Zoom is a special ability learned exclusively by the Hero 9 after a plot event. Unlike earlier games, it costs no MP to cast.

DQ10
Zoom can be utilized through special stones called Zoomstones. Each Zoomstone can be set to a single location at a time, either by interacting with special waypoint crystals (usually located outside points of interest, such as caves) or by speaking to a priest inside of a church, and can have their locations overwritten as many times as the player chooses. The player can receive more Zoomstones by progressing through the story, completing side-quests, and receiving them as special rewards. Once a certain point of the story is reached, a quest can be completed to obtain a Mega Zoomstone, which initially allows travel to any of the major locations to each of the five continents of Astoltia. Later, it can be upgraded to include other locations as well. There are other methods of Zoom as well, such as an NPC that will allow you to Zoom to any previously visited location up to three times a day for a nominal fee, and a special Zoom that will warp you to or nearby the location of your next story objective.

DQ11
Zoom is learned through the same method as in IX. Unlike other Main Series games, you can use Zoom indoors. In the Definitive Edition, trying to do the same in 2D Mode will only result in hitting the ceiling as always.

SSB5
Zoom is one of the spells that can be used by the Hero Smash through his Down special, Command Selection. This costs 8 MP to use, and allows the Hero to quickly fly back to the main platform of the stage, provided he isn't obstructed by a ceiling overhead. Compared to the Hero's up-special attack (Woosh, which can be further charged-up to Swoosh and Kaswoosh), Zoom provides a greatly increased vertical-recovery distance and a period of invincibility with a much lower MP cost than Kaswoosh, but has the notable downsides of not damaging opponents, the ascent being followed by a swift and uncontrollable descent with very little horizontal movement, and the inherent unreliability of the Command Selection menu's randomly-chosen options. However, if the Hero is close to the blast line, the chance of Zoom appearing in the command list is tripled.
Trivia
*A common gag with Zoom is that using the spell indoors will cause the user to hit their head on the ceiling, making them plummet straight back down.
**This gag is also featured in SSB5, where casting Zoom indoors or below a hard platform will cause the same thing to happen.

Notes
*Chapters 55 and 56 of Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken elaborate on the Ruura spell and explain it as the ability to go to a place if you can form an image of it in your mind.
*In Dragon Quest V, it's suggested that transporting too many people with this spell at once causes physical strain or even unconsciousness, as the Hero blacks out after transporting the wedding entourage to Ventuno Casino Ship.

A Draconian Quest is an optional in-game feature in Dragon Quest XI. There are 9 Draconian Quests in total, and they all add restrictions to the core gameplay that makes the adventure significantly harder. Draconian Quests are available from the start of the game, however trying a Draconian Quest on a first playthrough is not recommended. Completing a Draconian Quest earns the player a star next to their save file.

List of Draconian Quests
There are 9 Draconian Quests in total. Draconian Quests can be removed but not added back, requiring the player to start a new file if they want to try again. Some Draconian Quests are limited to the Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest XI, while one is only available in its original release.
*No Fleeing from Battle (original release only) - The party cannot run away from fights.
*No Shopping - Items and equipment cannot be purchased from shops.
*No Armour - Armor cannot be equipped.
*Reduced Experience from Easy Fights - Enemies that are way weaker than the party give little to no experience (though they still drop items).
*All Enemies Are Super Strong - All enemies are way stronger than normal.
*Shypox - The Hero will sometimes do things out of the player's control, such as recalling an embarrassing memory that makes them lose their turn or not being able to talk to NPCs.
*Super Shypox (Definitive Edition only) - All the other party members will sometimes become afflicted by Shypox.
*Townsfolk Talk Tripe (Definitive Edition only) - NPCs will sometimes tell complete lies and non-sequiturs, though none of the lies are relevant or affect actual gameplay.
*Party Wiped Out if Protagonist Perishes (Definitive Edition only) - If the Hero falls in the battle, the party instantly loses the battle and the player is sent back to the title screen.
