Thanks, man, for the designation and well-wishing. Dunno if you got my PM on the boards, but I've been having difficulty getting to some sites on both a regularly basis and, well, ever. The wiki here seems to fall into the former. I have access now, but later I probably won't be able to get to it.

Hope your holidays and New Year went well, man. I'll try to do some things before my connection here fizzles again. --PantheonSasuke 23:36, 10 January 2012 (CST)
For some reason, the wiki loads pages fine...until I decide to upload an image. Then, it bogs down to the point that I get so frustrated, I go elsewhere. No other site runs as slow as this one. It takes an eternity for a page to load. This is the reason why I haven't been very active in the last week or so. I still have many images to share, but I find myself giving up in desperation. I know you've been having trouble getting the wiki running smoothly, and was wondering if anyone else has been having a similar problem? Thanks. Besides, spending money on this site (which is just a labor of love, really) would mean less $$$ for games! :) Nobody would expect you to do that, certainly not me. Anyway, playing my first DQM game. Chances are I was never up to the task of consistently helping out here like I thought I'd be able to.
I'm sorry for not keeping basically all the promises I made. If the image-renaming project hasn't already been given to someone else than it can be passed along to another. I want to say I was around Dragon Quest VII before I lost track due to computer issues.

PantheonSasuke:

The views expressed in this article are those of the original submitter, not necessarily those of the Dragon Quest Wiki community.

This article seeks to explain why there is a lack of uniformity among the various English localizations of Dragon Quest. For naming conventions used by Enix and Square Enix, see Localization Differences. For the various names of spells, see Spell List. For other changes in Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI, see List of Name Changes in the Zenithia Trilogy.

The various English localizations of the Dragon Quest series, as a result of three eras of Dragon Quest in North America by Enix and Square Enix, has resulted in a localization lack of uniformity in North America. This article will list the causes and effects of the localization changes that Enix and Square Enix have made since the first English release of Dragon Quest.

Nintendo, Dragon Warrior, and Enix America Corporation
In 1989, around three years after the first Dragon Quest game was released in Japan, Nintendo of America decided it was time to introduce North American gamers to the Japanese RPG genre.
So they localized Dragon Quest and renamed it Dragon Warrior. It is believed that this was necessary as a company called TSR owned the name Dragon Quest at the time, so Nintendo had no choice but to change the name of the NES game to something else. Shortly after, Enix Corporation established a localization branch in Washington, Enix America Corporation, to localize additional Dragon Quest titles for North America. Often called Enix of America, Enix America Corporation brought Dragon Warrior II, Dragon Warrior III, and Dragon Warrior IV stateside. While Enix America Corporation wanted to bring the Super Famicom Dragon Quest VI over as Dragon Warrior V, sadly Enix closed their North American localization branch at the end of 1995, which meant that U.S. fans missed out on two of the best Dragon Quest titles, Dragon Quest V and Dragon Quest VI.

It also meant that many new, younger gamers weren't exposed to the series. And as the Final Fantasy games increased in popularity with it's new Super Nintendo titles being released stateside, Dragon Warrior was starting to fade into obscurity. It was only through sites such as Dragon's Den and the DQShrine that fans in North America found each other and kept hopes of a return of Dragon Warrior to North America. It was also at this time that many North American fans began refering to the series as Dragon Quest, DraQue or simply DQ.

Eidos, Dragon Warrior Monsters, and Enix America, Inc.
In 2000 Dragon Warrior miraculously returned in the form of Dragon Warrior Monsters for the Game Boy Color, which helped to immerse several new American fans into the series. The game was followed by a reestablishment of Enix in North America, as Enix America, Inc., which released Game Boy remakes of Dragon Warrior I & II, Dragon Warrior III, a dual version Dragon Quest Monsters 2, Torneko: The Last Hope, and the much anticipated Dragon Warrior VII. The games' translation was also improved, with the names of characters and such being more faithful to the Japanese version (one example being that the legendary hero Erdrick was renamed Loto, which was a more faithful translation of his Japanese name, Roto.) By then, Enix had established their own localization for the series. And while the localization was far from perfect, it was still "close enough" to the Japanese version for fans to truly enjoy it. The names of characters, monsters, spells, items, places, etc., had been chosen carefully to reflect the Japanese names, while still maintaining many traditions that had been established since the days of the Nintendo NES. While the localization did suffer somewhat, the fans were still satisfied with it, and all the names used in the English versions were burned into their hearts and minds. As Enix continued to release the Dragon Warrior titles in America, it seemed as though the series was here to stay. But then, something unimaginable happened.

Enix Merges with Square, Dragon Quest VIII, and the Current SQUARE ENIX
On April 3rd 2003, Enix and Square merged into one company to form Square Enix. Many fans were ecstatic about the merger, and had high hopes for the series' future. Perhaps now that Square and Enix had become one, Dragon Quest would finally get the recognition it deserved, or so many thought. Little did we know just what the new Square Enix USA had in store for our beloved series.

Shortly after the merger, the fans began asking questions about the future of Dragon Quest in America, and if we would be getting the Enix designed PS2 remake of Dragon Quest V. However, most of the people in the newly formed Square Enix USA were former Square employees, many of whom had never even heard of Dragon Quest before the merger, and didn't really seem to care. The fans were crushed. It seemed as though their voices were falling on deaf ears, and the future of Dragon Quest looked bleak. But when Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2 would be coming to the states, the fans once again rejoiced! But their rejoicing wouldn't last long, as the game's English localization had the fans confused and dismayed at the several changes that were made which contradicted both the old Enix naming conventions and the original Japanese. While some of the changes were welcomed, others were not. The changes of names and writing style proved to be very upsetting to fans who have become so familiar with the Enix translations, and who had expected Square Enix to carry on the traditions that had already been established when the series was known as Dragon Warrior. This brought frustration to many long time fans who almost felt insulted by Square Enix for their new, and sometimes awkward, translation. It is not known if any of those in charge of the localization process had tried playing any of the Dragon Warrior games prior to translating Dragon Quest VIII, but it certainly would have helped if they had.

Not all of the changes were so bad. For one thing, some parts of the game were actually closer to the original Japanese, and taking any steps to achieve closer unity to the original Japanese counterpart is always welcome (Well, at least by most.) But some of the other changes are so pointless and far away from the Japanese version, it makes you wonder if they gave any consideration to the Japanese at all!

Current Square Enix Localization of Dragon Quest
The following sections will take a look at how the series was altered from both it's American and Japanese traditions, almost to the point of being unrecognizable at times, as well as point out some of the advantages of the new localization over the old. The purpose of this article is NOT to bash Square Enix, but to evaluate how they've handled the localization, and what the fans
have to say about it.

Voice Acting & Script Writing
First, let's begin with Dragon Quest VIII, the first Dragon Quest game localized by Square
Enix. Square Enix USA added several new features including voice acting and the symphonic soundtrack to make for a really
enjoyable experience. Nevertheless, some changes were not so enjoyable. The original Japanese version of Dragon Quest VIII had no voice acting and simply used synthesized
music, and the added voices for the English version is a subject that many fans have mixed feelings about. You see, Dragon Quest games have always been about being natural and
casual. And even though DQ games take place in a medieval-like setting, they really don't take
place in the Middle Ages. Rather, they take place in their own world with their own culture and
language, a language that is usually very modern and easy for people to relate to.
Enix understood this and transfered the casual atmosphere over into the Dragon Warrior
games. With the exception of the first three Dragon Warrior games for the NES, the script had always been
very straight forward and "Americanesque". Dragon Warrior Monsters even had characters that
said "dude!", something that would be unheard of in medieval England!

But when Square Enix took over, they rewrote the script with a much more medieval "slant"
to it, as well as adding voice acting from a British acting group to accommodate the new
script. And the new script definitely has a lot of advantages over the old and all-to-often
straight forward script of Dragon Warrior. However, some of the names were translated without
much regard to the actual Japanese, and many fans were sad and frustrated to see that the names of monsters, spells, items, etc., had been rewritten. One example is that the Hero's pet was named Toppo in the Japanese, but renamed Munchie in English.

And while the voices for many characters were entertaining (especially Trode and Yangus), others sounded very unnatural, exaggerated, goofy, and over the top, which makes the game feel too silly and really detracts from the more serious and emotional aspects. Sure, Dragon Quest has some silly apects to it, but the series itself is NOT silly. Not that I have anything against British voice acting, but I just think that Americans can relate better to characters who sound a bit more...well...American.

One good thing that came out of the voice acting, is that Square Enix in Japan took notice and
decided to implement voice acting of their own in Dragon Quest Swords for the Wii. Once again,
Square Enix used the same British actors for the English version of this game, too. Which honestly
worked out quite well, as the British voices seemed to accommodate the more "elegant" style of
the game. Most of the cast sound great, although the characters still seem to talk a bit too slow, though not as slow as Dragon Quest VIII.

Now let's tackle the game's script. A good scriptwriter knows that coherency is a major
factor in writing a good script. But some parts of the script are written with broken up
English that you can hardly read, like the dialogue of those guys who wear the yellow masks. The
new script doesn't quite seem to capture the spirit of Dragon Quest, and many feel Square Enix in North America doesn't truly understand the series all that well. It feels like they're trying to take a traditional Japanese RPG, and put a Western "spin" on it if you will, by changing the script around to make it feel less Japanese and more british-style. Now anyone whose played a good amount of JRPGs know that the Japanese have a different way of thinking than the western world does. And when JRPGs get localized for an English release, they should remain as faithful to the original Japanese as much as is necessary. It is understood that they have to go through some sort of "Westernization" when brought over to the states, but they still need to retain their Japanese identity, and localizers shouldn't be changing names around for no reason! Especially when some of the new names the come up with aren't even that good!

What's in a Name
One very peculiar aspect of the new translation, is that many monsters have been renamed without much regard to the traditional Japanese names. For instance, there is a monster called Battle Rex in the Japanese version of the series. And when Enix localized the Dragon Warrior games, they left it's name the same. But for Square Enix's new Dragon Quest localization, they changed his name from Battle Rex to hacksaurus instead. Why would Square Enix change a name that is perfectly understandable in English to something else? Changing a name like Battle Rex to Hacksaurus is just plain pointless!

Why would Square Enix go out of it's way to make these changes? Not only does it cause confusion for long time fans, it also poses a problem for the localization process of the future. For example, what if Yuji Horii invented monsters that were actually called "Gem Slime" or "Nimzo?" How would the localizers handle that? Since they already changed Golden Slime to gem slime and Mirudrass to Nimzo, that means they would have to change the names of Yuji Horii's new monsters into something else, which would only result in more confusion. Another odd thing about the new localization, is that the names of monsters and items are no longer captialized, despite always being capitalized in the Dragon Warrior games. Sure, they may not be proper names, but capitalizing words is what makes them stick out from all the rest. Capitalizing names of monsters and such is what gives them significance, and it's something that had been done since the earliest days of video games. Nintendo ALWAYS capitalizes the names of Pokemon, and even Square Enix's own Final Fantasy also has monster and item names capitalized. So why exclude Dragon Quest from all of this? Is Dragon Quest less important than Final Fantasy? Some feel that Square Enix thinks so.

Square Enix also changed almost all the traditional spell names, too. Spells like Firebal were changed to Sizz and Vivify changed to Zing, which doesn't fly over well with fans of the old translation. While this may have been done to reflect the perceived onomatopoeia of the Japanese spell names, some of the new localizations aren't as descriptive as the older Dragon Warrior names. Some changes are believed to be better, for example, Return was renamed Zoom and Outside was renamed Evac. Square Enix has also changed some of the item names, examples include changing Medical Herb to Medicinal Herb and Antidote Herb to Antidotal Herb. Many would prefer they had stayed with the traditional names that had already been established by the Dragon Warrior translations.

Do You Hear What I Hear?
In Dragon Quest VIII, Square Enix also removed all of the traditional battle and spell sound effects, which have been around since the very first Dragon Quest game, and replaced them with new sound effects of their own. This came as a shock and great displeasure to fans who had come to expect the traditional sounds effects that were a staple in the series. Removing these sound effects makes the game feel less like Dragon Quest, and most were not happy to see them removed. Thankfully, Square Enix repented and now all of the Dragon Quest games released in the states after Dragon Quest VIII maintain their traditional sounds.

God is in His Heavens, All is Not Well with Square Enix
In Square Enix's new localization, all references to God are replaced with Goddess, and
Christian crosses have been distorted to look almost like forks. While it may be safe to
assume that Square Enix made these changes to avoid controversy, it still provides a problem
for the future of the Dragon Quest localization. For instance, "God" plays a major role in
Dragon Quest VII. And should that game ever be remade (for the 3DS perhaps), how would Square
Enix handle the localization? Would they change His sprite to a female and call
Him "Goddess" instead? This is the kind of problem you run into when you replace an originally
masculine term with a feminine one. If Square Enix had opted for a different term such as "The
God" or "The One", this problem could be avoided much easier. In the Dragon Warrior games for Game Boy color, Enix simply replaced all references to God with "gods", although the references to God in Dragon Warrior VII remained intact.

It also seems very unusual that they would remove Christian symbolism and references to God, since many video games also contain such symbols and references. Such games include "Mega Man Legends", "Mega Man Battle Network 2", and even Square's very own "Threads of Fate." So why would Square Enix preserve references to God in one of their own titles, but not in others? Even the Dragon Warrior games since Dragon Warrior Monsters maintained all of the Judeo-Christian symbolism. And so far, I have heard of no such religious outburst from peoples concerning these religious themes.

Religion has always played a significant role in the Dragon Quest series, and while Square
Enix hasn't quite thrown out all of the religious themes, they have thrown out some of the
greatest traditions in the series, and it makes the games feel once again less like Dragon
Quest.

Dragon Quest IX and Beyond; Current Localizations
In 2010, Nintendo of America published Dragon Quest IX in North America and Europe, marking only the third time that a Dragon Quest game had been published by a company other than Enix/Square Enix. In the translation, some of the localizations that had been changed by Enix America, Inc were reverted to their earlier NES era localizations; such as:
*Loto reverted to Erdrick
*Lorasia reverted to Midenhall
*Sidoh reverted to Malroth
However, other aspects of the translation, such as items and spell names, remained consistant with the newer localizations adopted by Square Enix.

In 2011, Nintendo published the DS release of Dragon Quest VI in North America and Europe, and will publish Dragon Quest Monsters 2 and Fortune Street in these regions as well. It is possible that as Nintendo continues to be involved with the English localizations of Dragon Quest, that further name changes could occur.

Remaining Faithful
Many believe that when a Japanese video game is localized, it should remain as faithful to the Japanese version as much as necessary. Of course, Japanese games have to go through some sort of "Americanization" when brought over to the states, but they still need to maintain their Japanese identity. Which is why it is believed by some that a name should only be changed when it really doesn't make sense in English, such as changing Kukule's name to Angelo in Dragon Quest VIII. However, localizers shouldn't be making unnecessary changes for what could appear to be no real reason.

There is also something to be said for maintaining or preserving long established naming conventions. While some of the changes Square Enix has made have improved over the earlier Enix localizations, specifically in regard to spell names, most have not.

The character, monster, and item names are all what the original author Yuji Horii intended them to be. And to just change them is very disrespectful to the author. So for the sake of the Japanese authors, and for the sake of the fans, Sqaure Enix should revise their localization of Dragon Quest so that everyone can enjoy and understand the series the way Yuji Horii wants the games to be enjoyed and understood.

The Bemusoleum is a region found in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is a man-made area in a state of ruin, and is the eighth area accessed in the game.

Many of the rooms are in disrepair, fallen pillars, rubble, and breaks in the floor making relatively small rooms harder to navigate. Many rooms have portions that can only be accessed from other rooms, so it can take just as long to explore the Bemusoleum as other recent locations despite its smaller size.

Story
After winning the Rank A battles in the arena, the hero is awarded a key from Don Mole that grants him access to the Bemusoleum, the resting place of the Medal of Merit that will enable the hero to challenge Rank S. After disabling the ancient security mechanisms of the area and defeating the sagittar that was placed as a guard, the hero encounters the ghosts he has met on the island since exploring the Doubtback, who reveal that they lived on the island long ago and took the forms of the Albatross crew and passengers due to no longer having forms of their own. They tell of how the Medal of Merit was stolen long ago and sealed in the Bemusoleum, but that it is now rightfully the hero's, before asking that the hero does his part to help resurrect the Divine Battler and help them atone for their sins.

Description
The Bemusoleum is composed of a central area, which includes the entrance and the teleporter room, with west and east sides that can only be accessed from the teleporters. The west side contains an outside room and and inside room, while the east side is three indoor rooms, one containing sarcophagi with another, smaller room that can only be accessed when it is raining. Both sides have aqueducts that will flood during the rain, making the aqueducts impossible to traverse but raising platforms that can be used to get around instead.

The region is locked into daytime during the first visit, and the way to the teleporter room must be opened by pressing two yellow buttons that are located to the sides of the large yellow door that leads into the room. Two red and two blue buttons can also be found elsewhere in the Bemusoleum, with one pair of red and blue buttons being in the west area while another is located in the east area, though it is impossible to push both blue buttons during normal weather while it is impossible to push both red buttons while it is raining. Pressing both red buttons will open a red door in the higher level of the entrance area, while pressing both blue will open a blue door in the lower level of the same area. The red door will close again during rain, while the blue will close during normal weather, though each will open again when the weather suits what was needed to reach the buttons that opened the particular door. Both will never be open at the same time, however. If the player pushes the only available blue button that can be pushed during the first visit, when the weather is normal, it will reset to being unpushed when it is raining, so it is best to ignore the blue buttons until both can be pressed.

A sagittar is positioned in the teleporter room on the player's first time through the region. While it does not pursue the player, it does bar the way to the Medal of Merit with the help of a force field that will repel the player and prevent them from battling sagittar, which must be done in order to proceed. The security system that includes the force field also has an alarm system that activates when the player steps onto the floor, putting cyber slimes in the area on alert and making it harder to reach the teleporters without getting into a battle. By pushing all the red buttons in the area and opening the red door, the player can battle an overkilling machine that guards the security system's controls. Defeating it will disable the system, keeping the cyber slimes from patrolling the teleporter room (though they will still pursue if they spot the player) and making it possible to fight sagittar.

A bug in the game will cause the doors in the Bemusoleum to close again if they visit the replica of the entrance in the Dark World. While the doors can be opened again by pressing their buttons, they will also reopen if the player visits during a weather change in order to trigger the message stating that something can be heard moving.

Unshore is a region found in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is a small island of beaches and caves, and is the seventh area accessed in the game.

Like the region before it, Cragravation, Unshore is fairly linear, with none of its rooms having more than two ways out, though the rooms themselves can be very maze-like.

Story
Following the ordeals in Cragravation, the hero learns from a weakened Rex Mayday about the region he washed ashore in following the turbulence that brought the Albatross down on the island. The hero travels to the region in order to see if there is any chance of a way off the island there, encountering Lily Gilder's irritable teeny sanguini, the Countess, along the way and having to deal with several tentickles while pursuing her. After a confrontation with khalamari, Lily Gilder arrives to take the Countess back and the hero eventually leaves the area as well, unable to find anything that would lead to an escape from the island.

Description
From the map, Unshore appears to be similarly shaped to the symbol for infinity, though the area itself is more of a counterclockwise swirl when being navigated. The area begins outside, leads to a cave, goes outside again, then into another cave that exits into an outside, swampy area that is continued in an additional section that leads into the last cave of the area, where there is access to an underground room. With the exception of the first swamp room and the last, underground room, there are frequent instances of vines that can be climbed to reach higher and lower places.

Unshore is locked into daytime during the first visit, and the player must deal with tentickles, the tentacles of khalamari, in most of the sections in order to proceed, with the final tentickle not barring the path forward though it must be defeated in order to confront khalamari for the first time. When khalamari returns after his first defeat, the location of the tentickles will be randomized upon entering the rooms.

PantheonSasuke: I'm so ashamed.

Iceolation is a region in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is a snow covered mountain range and is the fifth area accessed in the game.

Iceolation tends to shift between winding paths and large expanses, proving to be one of the more time consuming areas in the game to navigate due to its size. It is the largest outside area in the game that does not experience weather changes, a trait normally attributed to inside locations.

Story
The hero comes to Iceolation in search of the Albatross' missing passengers, finding Lily Gilder and helping her in tracking down the Countess, her teeny sanguini. After traversing most of the region while avoiding bjorn and using it to break down any walls of ice obstructing the way, the hero and Lily manage to catch up to the Countess. The hero is forced to face off against bjorn before being able to safely leave with Lily and the Countess.

Description
Iceolation is made up of several large rooms, four of which are particularly open in order to provide room for bjorn to move around in. The area also has a few ledges that the hero must move along sideways in order to get by, as well as icy slides that act as one-way paths to another part of the same area, usually to make backtracking easier. There are two small caves in Iceolation as well.

The area is locked into daylight when first visited by the player, and three of the open rooms contain impassable ice walls. Inspecting a bonfire in the first of these rooms will cause bjorn to appear and shatter the ice wall, while the remaining two will have piles of firewood that must be lit from bonfires existing elsewhere, which can be found by following the foot tracks of gigantes. Once a torch is obtained from a bonfire it must be brought to the firewood in order to light it and provoke bjorn into appearing and breaking the nearby ice wall. The torch carried by the player will be put out if they get into three battles, making it important to avoid monster encounters while carrying a torch when attempting to progress through the area for the first time.

Iceolation is the home of bjorn, and the giant monster will appear in all but the last of the four open rooms, with the fourth acting as the spot where it can be truly fought.
The frostburn (originally Blizzard) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest II, it is a blue, icy variant of the dancing flame.

Characteristics
Frostburns appear to be dancing flames made out of blue fire. This would technically make them hotter than dancing flames, though it is to be assumed that they are super-frigid entities with a fiery countenance.

Like the dancing flames' power over fire, the frostburns' power over ice is also great. Additionally, and unfortunately, they are normally adept at instant-death magic, making them a considerable threat when encountered as a group.

The hero travels to the region in order to see if there is any chance of a way off the island there, encountering Lily Gilder's irritable teeny sanguini, Duchess, along the way and having to deal with several tentickles while pursuing her. After a confrontation with khalamari, Lily Gilder arrives to take the Duchess back and the hero eventually leaves the area as well, unable to find anything that would lead to an escape from the island.

Unshore is locked into daytime during the first visit, and the player must deal with tentickles, the tentacles of khalamari, in most of the sections in order to proceed, though it is possible to ignore the last tentickle. When khalamari returns after his first defeat, the location of the tentickles will be randomized upon entering the rooms.

Cragravation is a region found in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is a tall mountain that extends above the clouds and is the sixth area accessed in the game.

The area is one of the more linear locations, as it mostly extends upward as it goes, with only a few forks along the way that either combine back with the main path or quickly lead to a dead-end.

Story
After learning about a monster that might be able to help get the Albatross to the Monster Scout Challenge, the hero comes to Cragravation in search of it only to discover that Rex Mayday and Melonie are being pursued by a jamirus. Melonie gets spirited away to the top of the mountain, where the hero and Captain Mayday confront the jamirus and his father, a gemon. The monsters are defeated and quickly flee at the sound of Empyrea as she approaches. Though she is the one spoken of by Don Mole, the hero is unable to get her cooperation in assisting an escape from the island and she flies off. Shortly after, Rex Mayday collapses from a combination of his injuries from the crash landing and the stress he had been put through up to the present point, the hero and Melonie carrying him back to the Albatross.

Description
Cragravation is primarily a series of ascending ramps and rocky walls that can be scaled. The halfway point of the climb is a large cave that leads up to the colder portions of the area, though the cave also leads out to where the hero first witnesses Rex Mayday and Melonie's confrontation with jamirus. Cragravation is locked into day during the first visit to the area until it is cleared.

Empyrea has a nest atop the mountain, but does not patrol it in any way. After clearing the game and speaking with Leonyx the player can move to the center of the nest in order to challenge Emyprea. Estark also slumbers in Cragravation, trapped in ice, and attempting to speak to him during the post-game will give you the option of challenging him as well.

Story
The hero comes to Iceolation in search of the Albatross' missing passengers, finding Lily Gilder and helping her in tracking down the Duchess, her teeny sanguini. After traversing most of the region while avoiding bjorn and using it to break down any walls of ice obstructing the way, the hero and Lily manage to catch up to the Duchess. The hero is forced to face off against bjorn before being able to safely leave with Lily and the Duchess.

The Arena

PantheonSasuke: /* The Monster Series */

The Arena originally appeared in Dragon Warrior II in Osterfair Castle. Here you had to battle a Saber Lion in order to get the Moon Crest. It has since appeared in some form in all other Dragon Warrior/Quest games excluding VII.

Dragon Warrior/Quest III
In the third installment of the series, The Arena becomes a place where spectators come to watch monsters battle and bet on the out come. The Castle of Romaly, Isis, Samanao, and Cantlin all have a monster Arena in their casino.

Dragon Warrior/Quest IV
The Arena is available to you in Chapter 2 Princess Alena's Quest in two forms. First there is The Arena in the casino, then there is The Arena behind Endor Castle where Alena must prove her strength. This is the second time in the series that you actually fight in The Arena. In Chapter 4 there is another monster Arena in the casino in Haville.

Dragon Quest V
Oracleberry is the location of the only casino in the game and hence is the only place to find The Arena. This Arena functions just like all the other casino Arena's.

Dragon Quest VI
In Dragon Quest VI things get a little different. During your travels you will come across something called the Slime Arena, in which you will be able to have the slimes you have caught using you Beastmaster class battle. Your slime must fight through several levels, and winning the match gives you a prize.

Dragon Warrior/Quest VII
When trying to restore Darma Shrine in the past, the arena will be the proving ground as to who is the superior warrior. The Hero will have to face off against 6 different groups of enemies. Round 1 will be against Nepro and 3 Drakslimes. Round 2 will be against Garcia and 3 Boltrats. Round 3 will be against Thompson and 3 Goopies. Round 4 will be against Naputo and 3 Smoochers. Round 5 will be against Don Jose and 3 Beakrats. The 6th and final round will be against Neris and 3 Slime Nights.

Dragon Quest VIII
Morrie's Monster Arena is located southeast of Pickham. It's is here where the Monster Series and the main series meet up, in what is one the more enjoyable side quests in the game. To take part in Morrie's Arena you must recruit monsters to create a monster team of three. That team can work it's way through the Arena by winning eight ranks (G-S) with three rounds for each rank. You have no control over your monsters, but you can level them up outside the arena by leveling your hero up. You start off with three monsters however by the time you reach Rank-S you have a reserve group and a second monster team at your disposal.

----

Monsters Series
Arenas often play a sizable role in the Monsters series. There are differences in each game but as a whole the player must usually issue tactics and is prohibited from giving direct orders in the battles held in the arenas. Battles in these arenas are organized by rank, with ranks in the games ranging from G to A, sometimes extending into S and even X ranks. Each rank typically consists of three battles, with the difficulty rising with the next opponent and rank.

Dragon Quest Monsters
The Arena plays a major role in Dragon Quest Monsters, as the completion of a rank will open up new areas to explore and train and tame monsters in. Initially, the player will only have access to ranks G to D, but will be able to participate in C to S upon winning in D rank and solving the trouble with the Gate of Anger. After winning in S rank and completing the Gate of Reflection the player will be able to participate in the Starry Night Tournament, which functions similarly to an arena rank battle.

All ranks, with the exception of G rank, require a participation fee, with higher ranks demanding a higher price. It is possible to skip ranks in the arena, with the exception of G rank, since gold cannot be gained until clearing this rank, D rank, since it is the last available rank until it is won and the Gate of Anger is completed, and S rank, the rank that must be won in order to participate in the tournament.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2
Given the crisis GreatLog faces, the arena no longer plays as big a role as it did in the first game, though the player is still required to participate in order to gain the magic key to the sea world.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Two arenas exist in Green Bays: one on Domus Isle that is reserved for the Monster Scout Challenge and one on Xeroph Isle that operates more closely to the arenas of the first two games. While the Xeroph arena does not have to be cleared during the main game, winning all of its ranks is a requirement of Solitaire's Challenge in the post game.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2
:<small>Arena (Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2)</small>
An arena maintained by moles plays a similar role in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 to that of the arena in the first Monsters game. Like the first, clearing specific ranks will open up new areas to the player, and some ranks cannot be selected until these new areas have been explored and the story has been progressed.

The arena is a location in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is, as the name would suggest, an arena that is located underground and maintained by moles and is the fourth area accessed in the game.

Overseen by a group of mischievous and maniacal moles led by Don Mole, the arena is the only other area on the island besides the Albatross that isn't mostly inhabited by aggressive monsters. The battles held here help the hero to progress through the island and test the might of his monsters.

Story
After saving Eugene Poole from a team of moles, the hero meets Don Mole. Recognizing the relic acquired from wormonger, Don Mole decides to start up the arena, indicating that entering in the battles would be to the hero's benefit. Moving up the ranks and gaining access to new areas in the process, the hero, along with Archie Logg, begin to find out more of the island's history and the role the hero has been charged with in saving one known as the Divine Battler.

Description
The arena is made up of only four sections: the entrance, the arena itself, the synthesis research room, and the grand arena reserved for the True Monster Scout Challenge. The main arena connects to all the other rooms, though the grand arena cannot be accessed until after clearing the game and the true challenge is about to start.

Rank matches can be selected by speaking to Don Mole in the main arena, while Marsha, the mud mannequin that first appeared in Treepidation, can be spoken to in the synthesis research room in order to take part in the Monster Scout Proficiency Test.

Due to the arena being located in the Doubtback, the player will move to this area upon exiting the arena instead of being taken to the world map. Zoom can still be used to reach the arena, and can act as an alternate way of entering the Doubtback instead of doing so from the standard entrance.

PantheonSasuke: Aw, nuts, forgot the stub tag.

The Doubtback is a region in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is primarily a flatland divided up by streams running through, and is the third area accessed in the game.

The flats that make up most of the Doubtback hide large underground tunnels and caves which must be traveled in order to get around one of the streams that break the land up into sections. Since the region is locked into night when first visited, it is one of the few areas where the monsters encountered during the day can prove more formidable than those found at night.

Story
The Doubtback is explored by the hero as he tries to search out the passengers that were lost during the Albatross' crash landing. After encountering what appeared to be the ghost of Rex Mayday, the hero would go on to find a small clan of mischievous moles living in the area and comes to the aid of Eugene Poole when the elderly monster expert is being questioned by the moles. This leads him to the arena the moles dwell in.

Description
The surface of the Doubtback is comprised of three large flat areas and two smaller ones. The first of these plains is cut off from the rest due to the streams running across the region, an obstacle that can only be bypassed by using the underground tunnels. The tunnels are made up of a small section of intersecting passages that lead into a large subterranean pond with other, mostly dead-end tunnels around it. The area immediately after is divided in half by a stream, but can be passed thanks to rocks that stick above the water, with the following section forking in two, one way leading to the arena and the other to a sandy waterfront. Proceeding past the waterfront section will lead on to one that connects to the den of a missing lynx. During the player's first visit to the Doubtback they must speak to a slime at the arena's entrance and then get a letter from a maniacal mole guarding the missing lynx den before being able to get into the arena, with the den not being accessible until daylight and if the player's monsters are strong enough to face it.

The area can experience rain, which causes the rocks leading across the streams to become slippery. Attempting to cross the rocks during the rain may result in the player slipping and falling into the stream, washing ashore elsewhere in the Doubtback. This may or may not be helpful, depending on where the player was headed. The rain will also cause the stream in the waterfront area to swell, diminishing the amount of space that can be traveled and cutting off access to some treasure.

A missing lynx prowls the Doubtback at night, regardless of the weather. Its den can be accessed during the day when it sleeps, though the maniacal mole may deny access if the player's monsters aren't strong enough. The den can be explored at any time after the missing lynx is defeated or scouted, but will resume being off-limits during the night when the missing lynx returns.

PantheonSasuke: Created page with "Treepidation is a region found in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is a jungle themed area and the second area accessed in the game, after the Albatross. ..."

Treepidation is a region found in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It is a jungle themed area and the second area accessed in the game, after the Albatross.

Treepidation is mostly a jungle, though it is also home to a mire and a large cavern. Considering it is the first area explored after leaving the location of the Albatross, the monsters found here are amongst the weakest in the game. However, much like Infant Island in the previous game, there are a few powerful monsters to be mindful of.

Story
Treepidation is the first region the hero sets off into along with Rory Bellows in an effort to rescue the other missing passengers of the Albatross. It is here that the threat of giant monsters first appears in the form of the wormonger, the creature swallowing Rory not long after he and the hero locate Archie Logg. After tracking the monstrous worm down and saving Rory from its stomach, the hero obtains a relic spat out by the monster and learns how to reach the Doubtback.

Description
The layout of Treepidation circles around, though a drop in the northwestern section will require the caves to be used to reach the southeastern side, where using the southern exit will open a pathway so the player will be able to easily return to the Albatross without having to navigate the caves and western side again. The cave entrances in the southwestern and northeastern sides lead to dead ends, while the northern one leads to the bottom of the cavern. There is a central area that can only be accessed on the eastern side during rainfall, since a large log will be pushed down the river to act as a bridge to the center.

When the player first visits Treepidation it will be locked in daytime. Additionally, the mire on the west side will be impassable until speaking with the dilapidated mud mannequin and recovering her heart of mud after allowing the wormonger to wriggle by and scare one of the muddy hands into dropping the heart. Once Rory Bellows is devoured by the wormonger the area will switch and lock into nighttime until Rory is rescued.

During the daytime the wormonger will terrorize the region, moving along tracks it has made over time. It won't surface at night or while it is raining.

The Albatross is an airship in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. It acts as the home base of the hero throughout the events of the game, fulfilling a similar role to that of the scout posts in the previous title.

The Albatross appears as a large, blimp-like vessel that seems well-worn on both the inside and out, sporting plating at the front arranged to resemble a fanged grin and what appears to be a lightning bolt, sun, and storm clouds painted on most of its hull. The ship is owned and operated by Rex Mayday, the pilot and captain, and Rory Bellows, the engineer. The Albatross is held in high-esteem by the two despite the ridicule it often receives on account of its appearance and performance.

Story
At the start of the game, the ship is docked at an unspecified island and is about to head to Domus Island in order to ferry its passengers, both human and monster, to the Monster Scout Challenge. The Albatross gets partway through this trip before getting caught in a bizarre storm that damages its engines enough to force it to crash land on an unknown island.

The disaster and resulting crash cripples the ship's flight capabilities and sends all of its occupants, save one monster in the monster pen, flying out into the wilderness. Though it can no longer fly, the ship is still capable of acting as a sanctuary from the monsters on the island and is used by the hero as a place to rest and regroup the passengers that were on route to the challenge. It also houses other facilities that the hero makes use of, such as a vending machine and the monster storage system, amongst others.

Upon the revival of the Divine Battler, Leonyx, the hero is able to employ the aid of Empyrea to carry the Albatross, along with its passengers, off the island and to the Monster Scout Challenge. The damages the Albatross suffered are repaired sometime during this period off the island, and it eventually returns there and remains on the island for the rest of the game.

Inside
The innards of the Albatross consist of the bridge, passengers' cabin, hold, monster pen, and engine room, with noticeable absence of plating in many spots that makes the vessel's wiring and piping visible. The cabin holds an ATM for depositing and withdrawing gold, an item vending machine for purchasing items, and several benches for passenger use. The cabin connects to the bridge, hold, and monster pen, while the engine room connects to the hold and has a ventilation shaft that can be used to travel to and from the bridge.

After speaking to Leonyx after clearing the game and returning to the island, a slime and liquid metal slime will take residence in the cabin. The slime can be spoken to in order to move time ahead to night if it is day and day if it is night, while the liquid metal slime will sell metal tickets for 10,000 gold each.

Item Shop
An item vending machine is visible when entering the ship from the outside and can be used to purchase items. Both the vending machine and ATM are initially inoperable, but are fixed by Rory as the story progresses. Machine parts collected over the course of the game can be fed into a box next to the vending machine in order to increase its selection, though it will stop accepting parts to a point until clearing the game. Once the machine has its full selection of items, machine parts can continue to be given to it to lower the cost of the items to a specified limit.

Monster Pen
The monster pen is where the player can access the storage system to add and remove monsters from their team and substitutes, as well as check their statistics and skill sets, rename them, distribute skill points, and release them. Dr Lump will take residence in the pen upon completing the Doubtback area and will help the player with synthesizing monsters.

Random monsters will appear and loiter about the pen, though specific ones can be shown one at a time by selecting them in the library. If the player selects a giant monster, a normally locked door will unlock and allow them to view the monster outside where there is enough space.

Outside
The area of the island where the Albatross initially crashes appears to be a part of the Treepidation region. It is a large enclosure inhabited by slimes and holding a few treasures that can be collected during visits. The hero awakens in this area following the crash landing and learns about battling and scouting monsters from Rory Bellows here as well.

After completing the game king slimes will appear in this area at night and after winning the True Monster Scout Challenge the player might encounter Eugene Poole near a treasure chest on an elevation.
Introduced in the first game, it is a bizarre, snail-like creature.

From the front, drohl drones appear to be awkward, bug-like heads, having high placed eyes on eyestalks and very low set mouths with stubby hands and feet placed nearby. It wouldn't be until their later appearances in the spin-off titles that their side profiles would be shown in-game, revealing most of their body to be similar to a snail shell. Thanks, man, for the designation and well-wishing. Dunno if you got my PM on the boards, but I've been having difficulty getting to some sites on both a regularly basis and, well, ever. The wiki here seems to fall into the former. I have access now, but later I probably won't be able to get to it.
Re: Concerning moving files
I'm afraid it's nothing that organized, because I'm still pretty dopey when it comes to using/navigating a wiki in that capacity. I simply started at the back of the file list and move forward, changing whatever it is I can along the way, at least in terms of monster images.

I do plan on getting back to this eventually, I'm just tied up at the moment working on a personal project. Sorry about that, yo. --PantheonSasuke 00:05, 15 June 2011 (CDT)
:When I first started renaming them, I settled on trying to keep the names to one spot with spaces only existing between the game and system. I was completely unaware of any sort of wording that could be used for simultaneous changing in accordance with article names, and can't quite figure out how it might work even now. (although I think I do grasp it now, but if it'd go off the name of the page then wouldn't it also capitalize the first letter of the name? That'd be inconsistent with in-game capitalization for the most part, though my current method probably clashes with that as well since I capitalize the first letter of the name in the file for reasons I don't quite remember now. Plus, a lot of articles still call files by the names they used before the new file naming convention was thought up, so they'd all have to be changed in-article regardless) I can't get my thoughts straight right now in regards to this, to be honest, but I feel like I've gone a bit far right now to suddenly start over, and given how slowly I've been doing things it'd probably take even longer to get it all done. Sorry if that sounds like cranky rambling, but that's about as much as what comes to mind presently. --PantheonSasuke 21:03, 4 September 2011 (CDT)
::Kinda agreeing with Ragnar, here, multiple images for at least the recent games isn't a big deal, what bothers me is when there are two images for the SAME title and they try to go for the same thing (usually one or the other being superior quality, if I spot and rename the worse version first I usually save the better one and upload it as a new version to the bad one to avoid any messes with deleting a page and then making a new one with the same name as the old). That thing with the dracky file was probably a fluke, since I wasn't considering the file that existed before the information import that included the backdrop used in the original :P Also agreein' with Ragnar in regards to simple solutions, and the sprites CAN be hard to tell apart. This can especially be the case with the sprites from DQM and DQM2, notably ones that hardly underwent change since the biggest difference between those games is that 'white' is more of a beige color in DQM, which can be difficult to tell from the small sprite. Best not to sweat these things, yo, and to be honest I'll probably be avoiding the wiki for a bit to not get spoiled too much to Joker 2. That and I'll hopefully spot some name changes to implement here (pretty sure I already know what drolls are called now... yeah, I've spoiled myself a bit, but I still want there to be some surprises, heh). --PantheonSasuke 18:28, 10 September 2011 (CDT)
:::I think I'd rather get a good idea of how much better Pro is, assuming it ever gets localized, by playing the original first. Besides, it isn't going to help the franchise outside of Japan if everybody skips out on the first version waiting for an enhanced one we might not even get. Heck, I don't think I'd be able to wait for Pro even if it was 100% guaranteed to be localized. It's better to try something yourself than go off of the opinions of others', anyway. Yeah, the site can be slow sometimes. We are still on a shared host (cheap). I've found that there are good days and bad days. It all depends on how busy the sites are that are sharing our server. Someday I'd like to upgrade, but that costs a lot more (almost 4x as much). --FlyingRagnar 07:49, 31 August 2011 (CDT)
Is there a reason why Autoconfirmed Users can delete pages?
Though I'm pretty sure this was for Pantheon Sasuke, who requested to delete images, but you can delete pages too. :Vzing, thanks for your concern about possible vandalism. However, I feel that right now things should be pretty safe. In order to become autoconfirmed, you must make 50 edits and be registered for 10 days. I think this makes it very unlikely that deletion vandalism would happen. == Spam and & ==
Vzing, you seem to have a knack for finding bugs. ;) Basically, the URL rewriting which makes the URLs simple looking cannot handle '&'. That is why the category fails to load/delete/etc. There are solutions and I am looking into them. I will let you know when I get it fixed. Thanks for finding it!

Also, I'm working on the recent spam problem. I already had editing disabled until the user confirms their email, so I'm not sure much will help. I added a captcha when creating a new account, but I can't seem to get it working yet for creating pages, etc. --FlyingRagnar 23:42, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
Re:Categories concerning Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 Pro
I think having a category for the Pro monsters is a good idea. Monsters that are in both can be in both categories. That makes it easy to figure out which ones are in which version. --FlyingRagnar 21:12, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
:Either name is fine, but I probably would go with 'Pro' since it is a rather long category name. --FlyingRagnar 21:21, 9 September 2011 (CDT)

Re: MultipleUpload on Special Pages
Done. I've changed things so that multiple upload is the only upload page. Let me know if you have a case where you would like to upload more than 10 at at time. I can adjust it, but I think 10 is a good baseline. --FlyingRagnar 09:45, 12 September 2011 (CDT)
Moving Categories
Hey, I'm moving those categories using the bot. I wonder if some of them are a bit incorrect? For example, isn't it more correct to put (NES) on the ones which are the original version. It looks like you were leaving those without the console version, but then adding it for the remakes (SNES) (PSX) etc. --FlyingRagnar 20:05, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
:Nevermind, I see now that you were putting the remake categories as subcategories to the original game. I think that layout is fine. If we need to change it someday we can. --FlyingRagnar 20:08, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
::All requested files should be moved to their new categories. Let me know if you find anything else that needs moved. --FlyingRagnar 23:25, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
Re:Should...
Vzing, I don't think we should be too picky about image name schemes. The most important thing is that the name gives all the details related to the image, i.e. the game and the version. File:Grandmasternimzo DQV PS2.png or File:Nimzo DQV PS2.png both seem fine to me. Those names are detailed enough that you know what the image is without having to look at it.

Re: moving files without a redirect. Done. You should now have a check box when moving a page which gives you the option to create a redirect or not. --FlyingRagnar 17:19, 15 September 2011 (CDT)
::One other thing I thought I might mention. I tend to be a fan of using the name of the enemy used in the specific version of the game. For example, I think the file name would be "Healer DQII NES" and not "Healslime". --FlyingRagnar 10:48, 16 September 2011 (CDT)
Spam
I'm kind of at a loss about what to do about our spam problem. I've changed it so that new accounts must fill out a captcha AND confirm their email address before editing/uploading files. The spammer accounts do all of that, which seems to indicate that they are not robots. Hmm... --FlyingRagnar 14:22, 16 September 2011 (CDT)

I saw you deleted an old redirect I had in my user pages. Just wanted to mention that you shouldn't delete pages in other user's areas in the future. It's generally considering invading others' privacy. I don't care that you deleted that particular page (it was junk anyway), but I just wanted to give you a heads up. --FlyingRagnar 19:43, 29 September 2011 (CDT)

Galleries
I see that you are not a fan of galleries...care to share why? They tend to get quite cluttered, but we need a way to associate images with content pages. The gallery tag has a lot of parameters; maybe we could shrink them down to a smaller size? gallery documentation link --FlyingRagnar 00:53, 1 October 2011 (CDT)
: That sounds fine to me. I would warn against deleting pretty large galleries. In my experience it is much harder to track down all the images that have been uploaded for a particular monster later on. The search functions are not the greatest on Mediawiki. --FlyingRagnar 21:18, 1 October 2011 (CDT)
Re: Can you confirm something
It would appear that at least the sprite for a slime is different between PSX and DS.

PSX Slime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScmVHgOwoAI&t=0m8s
DS Slime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxh3cvDSQj0&t=8m57s

We might just to have to ask around on the Dragon's Den to know what the real difference is. I always thought the sprites on the PSX page would taken directly from the game, but it might not be the case. --FlyingRagnar 13:57, 8 October 2011 (CDT)
.jpg to .png
I don't think there is anything that we can do to convert them. Even if there was such a tool, the conversion would likely be non-optimal, meaning then we would have a bunch of not so good looking images to clean up. I would just use the multiple upload to add the new PNGs. Then we can go back and delete all the JPGs later. Sound good? --FlyingRagnar 19:44, 28 October 2011 (CDT)
Re: SEIWA
I agree we have a lot of stubs, but last I checked we had about 1000 stubs of our 2600 or so articles. That's only 38%, and SEIWA requires less than 40%. However, I think the Dragon Quest series in general is somewhat of an exception. I mean, this is a HUGE game series compared to Kingdom Hearts or Chrono Trigger. Aside from Final Fantasy, it is the largest SE series period. I think that probably gives us a little more leeway because more games = more articles = more stubs. --FlyingRagnar 15:37, 2 November 2011 (CDT)
Re: Sprite Renaming Project
Suppressing redirect creation when moving files was something that occurred to me, but I think then it felt safer to make the redirects so the images would still work on the pages until the pages themselves could get the updated names. As for the item sprites, I had no real intention of doing those since my main objective at the beginning was just getting the monster sprites done since there are many, many in-game images of monsters. As for an algorithm for the item sprite file names, if I'm interpreting it correctly, it could probably be something similar to what's in use for monsters (Name_Game_Console/Version). This might require some group consulting, though, so maybe run it and other ideas by the other users that frequent here. Form a consensus and such.

I'm just going to say now that I probably won't be back to active participation here any time soon. I'll spare the details and just say that I haven't felt motivated at all lately to do anything remotely productive. Sorry. --PantheonSasuke 17:34, 1 December 2011 (CST)
File Names
Vzing,

If you would like to start using a different file name formatting, that is fine. Here are my thoughts. I don't think using 'S' to designate a sprite is necessary. Specifying the game name and version should be enough. Any artwork for a specific game/version will likely have a more descriptive name "DQIII NES Slime art" for example. I also don't think that all of the media file name have to follow a specific pattern at all. Of course, it makes sense for them to be similar, but as long as the important pieces are there (game name, version, monster name, etc) then we should be able to search on those keywords to find the media. Basically, as long as the name is distinctive enough to identify the file, you can use whatever pattern you think works the best. --FlyingRagnar 21:59, 17 December 2011 (CST)

We might just to have to ask around on the Dragon's Den to know what the real difference is. I always thought the sprites on the PSX page would taken directly from the game, but it might not be the case. --FlyingRagnar 13:57, 8 October 2011 (CDT)
I don't think there is anything that we can do to convert them. I would just use the multiple upload to add the new PNGs. Then we can go back and delete all the JPGs later. == Re: SEIWA ==

Vzing, I have not had a chance to check this yet. I'm not sure I will be able to figure it out, but if not I will post it on the Dragon's Den and see if anyone knows the answer. --FlyingRagnar 13:45, 9 November 2011 (CST)

The drohl drone is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in the first game, it is a bizarre, snail-like creature.

Characteristics
From the front, drohl drones appear to be awkward, bug-like heads, having high placed eyes on eyestalks and very low set mouths with stubby hands and feet placed nearby. It wouldn't be until their later appearances in the spin-off titles that their side profiles would be shown in-game, revealing most of their body to be similar to a snail shell. They are generally shades of purple.

In these instances, that is. --PantheonSasuke 20:56, 11 September 2011 (CDT)

Though I'm pretty sure this was for Pantheon Sasuke, who requested to delete images, but you can delete pages too. Can you just grant administer permission for me and Pantheon Sasuke and revert the user rights so that only administers and up can delete pages? A precaution to vandalism. --<font color="blue">V<small><s>7</s></small>ing</font> 21:14, 4 September 2011 (CDT)
:Vzing, thanks for your concern about possible vandalism. However, I feel that right now things should be pretty safe. In order to become autoconfirmed, you must make 50 edits and be registered for 10 days. I think this makes it very unlikely that deletion vandalism would happen. In the future if this becomes more of a risk, I will change it to make it more safe. --FlyingRagnar 23:49, 4 September 2011 (CDT)
Also, I'm working on the recent spam problem. I already had editing disabled until the user confirms their email, so I'm not sure much will help. I think having a category for the Pro monsters is a good idea. Monsters that are in both can be in both categories. That makes it easy to figure out which ones are in which version. --FlyingRagnar 21:12, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
