<center>A fine sword fighter with incredible feminine charm to boot. Raised by the Roamer Tribe, her dancing skills are second to none. But a sorrowful glint in her eyes suggest a troubled past.

--Description from the Dragon Quest VII instructional manual.</center>

Aishe (アイラ, formerly Aira) is a character from Dragon Quest VII. She is a ceremonial dancer of the Roamers tribe, but has shown some restlessness recently.

Appearance
Aishe is an attractive young woman with tan skin, long flowing dark hair that reaches past her shoulders. She wears red lipstick and silver hoop earrings. Aishe is similar in dress to Kiefer. She wears an abbreviated red jacket that she leaves open andred leather gloves. She also dons a leather bra and with red bikini bottoms. Draped around her waist is a tattered cloth that she wears like a skirt. Around her neck, she wears a metal choker connected to her bra with leather straps. She wears tall red leather boots with straps and metal bands around her thighs. Slung on the back of her waist is a scabbard with the Sword of the Roamers with which she is quite proficient. In appearance, she looks like a dancer and a warrior, which fits her nicely.

Personality
Aishe is quite the forceful person. Many of the tribe find it hard to tell her what to do. In fact, during her initiation as the tribe's lead dancer, she walked out from the tent where the initiation was taking place, upset with the way the chief was playing the torban. During this, no one was able to stop her for fear of her swordsmanship. She finds that she is restless with the way of the Roamer Tribe. She wants to go and find new adventures.

However, Aishe doesn't defy her duties as the tribe lead dancer. On the contrary, she is very dedicated to reviving the Almighty. Her reason for joining the party, first and foremost is to find a person to play the legendary Torban of Truth.

Aishe is a very principled person, often refusing to compromise on her morals. She is quick to show compassion for troubled people around the world. She is very proud of her Roamer heritage and culture, and can become angry when she feels her people are being disrespected. She is mostly calm and patient, despite her hot-headed side. She is equally proficient in both dance and swordsmanship.

She shares an unusually strong bond with Princess Lisette, stating that she sees her as a younger sister. King Donald also quickly develops an affinity for Aishe, asking her to stay on in Estard as Lisette's tutor at the end of the game.

In the 3DS remake, if the player decides to look in a mirror while Aishe is the first character in the party line-up, she will agonize over her appearance. She will also comment on her outfit, smile at herself, strike a dancer's pose, comment on the usefulness of mirrors, use her sleeve to clean the mirror, wink at herself, fix her hair, wonder if she's put on weight, and ponder if she should start using a new lipstick.

History
Not much is known about Aishe's past except that she was trained to lead the Roamer Tribe in dancing. Someone also taught her to fight with the sword as she is very proficient in this art as well.

It is later revealed that Aishe is a direct descendant of Kiefer and Lala, the former who traveled with the Hero before falling in love and choosing to stay in the past with Lala. This explains the strange connection Kiefer's family feels towards her.

Synopsis
During the initiation to become the tribe's dancer, Aishe walks out of the tent where she is performing. She heads to a cliff by a waterfall where the Hero and party catch up to her. She asks them who they are and they introduce themselves. Aishe believes that they were sent by the Chief of the Roamers. She explains that she has no desire to be a dancer. With that, she returns to the Roamer camp.

When the party arrives, they find Aishe and the chief having a heated discussion. Aishe wants to find the legendary Torban Player but the chief doesn't want her to leave. As the party enters the tent, she quickly uses them to her advantage. She tells the chief that she will be in their capable hands. The chief asks the party if this is true. The Hero responds in the affirmative. The chief relents and tells her to be careful on her journey. Aishe is given the Torban of Truth to find the Legendary Torban Player.

Aishe then leads the party to the cliff again and finds a grave that reads Here lies the Holy Dancer and the Holy Guardian. She digs up the grave and finds the Sword of the Roamers. She explains that this is the sword that Roamer Guardians use to protect the tribe. The chief didn't approve of her having it so she buried it. She then lies under the stars and invites the party to do the same.

Night passes and they wake up the next morning. Aishe formally joins the party and they set off to find the Legendary Torban player.

If the player heads to Estard first and enter the Castle, she will tell the party that she feels as though she has been before even though she knows she hasn't. If the party talks to King Donald, he will ask Aishe to look her in the eyes and ask if she recognizes her. She will respond that she doesn't.

The party head to Hubble and find it a place dedicated to to the arts. They meet the Princess Michaela and tell her of their quest to find the Legendary Torban Player. Michaela responds that she will use her influence to organize a contest so that a Torban Player can be found. Aishe leaves the Torban of Truth with the princess and continue on their adventure.

After completing the "Memories of an Old Friend" DLC tablet, the truth is revealed to King Donald that Aishe is in fact the descendant of Prince Kiefer and Lala, when the ring belonging to Kiefer's mother suddenly appears on Aishe's finger. The king warmly accepts the young woman who is his descendant and tells her that she will always have a place in Estard if she so chooses.

Abilities
Strategy
Aishe is able to equip most weapons and armors in the game. Because of this and her high strength increases, she is best suited to physical attacks.

Being the ritual Dancer of the Roamer tribe, it isn't surprising that Aishe joins the party with the Dancer class already mastered. She joins the party as a rank three Warrior. The player should allow Aishe to become a rank five Warrior so that she can use the skill Sword Dance, a powerful skill that attacks all enemies four times.

Because she already mastered the Dancer class, it would be a good idea to learn the Luminary class after mastering both the Troubadour and Jester classes.

Name
Her original name "Aira" can be seen as a conglomeration of the Italian name Aria, meaning 'Song' or 'Melody' and the Japanese name Airi which means 'Love' and 'affection'.

Many of the tribe find it hard to tell her what to do or what she should do.

Abilities
Aishe joins the party at level 21 and already several abilities learned.
Pearl (formerly Mollie) is The Hero's mother, and Pollock's wife, in Dragon Quest VII.

Story
Pearl wakes the Hero up at the beginning of the game, reminding him about the pilchard harvest. Whenever Pollock goes off on a fishing trip, she makes him a Pilchard sandwich. Despite her uncertainty at her son's adventuring, she ultimately accepts him going on a journey.

When Pollock later is lost at sea after the revival of The Almighty, she refuses to believe he is dead.

Personality
Pearl is a strong and supportive person who stands beside her husband and son. In spite of her reservations about the dangers of adventuring, she offers her son and the party any help she can - even if it only means spending a night in his old bed. She is used to Pollock spending a long time out at sea and is capable of managing the household by herself. She often chastises the Hero for sleeping in late.

Pearl has a strong set of morals, and so shows an open dislike for her scheming brother-in-law, Pike. She warns the Hero about spending too much time with him. She also has a soft spot for Maribel, failing to see through her charming facade, and remarks that the girl is a good influence on the Hero. Maribel returns the sentiment, and frequently reminds the Hero not to make trouble for his mother.

Appearance
Pearl is a heavy-set woman, with black hair kept up in a bun underneath a frilled white cap. She wears a white top under a long navy tunic with a reddish-brown collar, tied at the waist with a white apron. She wears brown pointed shoes.

Official art of Pearl often pictures her holding cooking utensils such as frying pans and wooden spoons.

Trivia
In the original PlayStation version, there is an error in one of her conversations with the Hero. After the player clears Dharma, she says

"You and the prince have been friends for a long time but now you are never going to see him again, to see him again."

She also gave birth to the Hero four months premature.

Sadhbh: I added some more detail to his bio, showing what people have to say about Pike around Estard. I also added an 'Appearance' section.

Pike (formerly Hondara) is the hero's uncle in Dragon Quest VII.

Pike's brother, Pollock, is a skilled fisherman and is well regarded by the citizens of Pilchard Bay and Estard, while Pike himself is not. As the player progresses through the early part of the game, one is inclined to distrust Pike. Pike also appears to have a serious problem with alcohol, seeing as how he is always drunk.

He is infamous throughout Estard for his frequent get-rich-quick schemes, which seldom work in his favour. The local children complain that he bullies them, and people about town remark on the many differences between Pollock and his brother. At the beginning of the game, a man at the tavern in Estard tells the Hero that Pike owes him money, and to remind him to pay up. Pearl expresses distaste for her brother-in-law, and warns the hero about spending too much time with him.

The Sizzling Stone
Pike also used to have the Sizzling Stone until he sold it to Bulgio, foolishly thinking that he has gotten the better end of the deal. The Sizzling Stone is the item needed to get Sir Mervyn to join the party.

Appearance
Pike is shorter than his brother Pollock, and much less muscular. He has a thin moustache, and is rarely seen without a grin on his face. He has black, slicked-back hair and tanned skin. He wears a sea-coloured snood over a deep green tunic secured with a belt, along with mustard tights and brown pointed shoes.

An ordinary boy living in a tiny fishing village. Your father is counting on you to succeed him as a great fisherman. You're a bit too nice for your own good, and often get taken advantaged of by your friend, Maribel.

--Description from the Dragon Quest VII instructional manual.

The Hero of Dragon Quest VII is the son of a prominent fisherman and the game's main protagonist. He is childhood friends with Prince Kiefer of Estard Castle (the only land in a vast world covered by ocean) and a young woman named Maribel who travel with him to find shards to restore the world to its former glory.

Appearance
The Hero of Dragon Quest VII is dressed in a green tunic, complete with a green hat that is the source of ridicule from Maribel. This hat covers his messy black hair. In some of the character art, he is depicted with a pet iguana.

Personality
In keeping with tradition in the Dragon Quest series, the hero does not have the ability to speak in the game because he is the personification of the player. He only communicates through a prompt of yeses and noes. However, he is generally liked by the people of Pilchard Bay and Estard. He is somewhat of a late sleeper, much to his mother's consternation. He also has a problem refusing people's requests and is constantly bullied into doing stuff by Maribel or his uncle Pike.

In the 3DS remake, if the player decides to look in a mirror while the Hero is the first character in the party line-up, he will be captivated by how stylish he looks, find a different face looking back at him, be unable to see his reflection from steam, decide that his left side is his best side, notice he has grown a little tougher-looking, see that his face is flushed bright red, wipe the mirror, realize he didn't wash his face that morning, remain transfixed for a while, start counting his beauty spots, fix his hair, practice his most winning smile, notice his hair has grown long and unruly, realize his shirt is on back-to-front, see a tired-looking reflection, and grin awkwardly.

Synopsis
start
The game begins with the Hero and Kiefer finishing their exploration of the ruins as the sun goes down on the island. Later on that night, Maribel asks the Hero what he was doing. Regardless the answer, Maribel will not be pleased and she tells him that she will find out what he is doing sooner or later.

Morning breaks and he is awakened by Pearl, his mother, who scolds him. She gives him a pilchard sandwich and tell the Hero to deliver it to his father, Pollock. The Hero does so and is ordered by his father to clean up the ship's interior. While there, he finds Maribel trying to stow away on the ship. She tries to convince the Hero not to rat her out, when she is also discovered by the ship's cook, who throws out the young woman. After this, Pollock tells the Hero that he is not ready to come with him. He tells the Hero to look after his mother while she is preparing for the pilchard harvest. The Hero exits the ship and watches it depart.

Afterwards, he is approached by a soldier from Estard Castle. He tells the Hero that the King Donald wishes to speak to him. After the message was delivered, the Hero prepares to leave when Maribel approaches him. Overhearing this, she imposes herself on the Hero and the two head to Estard Castle Town. They arrive without any problems and Maribel leaves to look at dresses.

The Hero enters the castle to speak with King Donald. The king asks him about Kiefer, his son, and his whereabouts. Regardless of the answer, the king will be agitated by the answer. He explains that Kiefer stole the Sunstone, his mother's ring.

After his meeting with the king, the Hero goes to find Kiefer who is at the ruins, who has already tried the Sunstone on the statue in the Ruins without success. Kiefer tells the Hero about what he had found out in the library and explains that this must have something to do with the ruins. He gives the Hero the scroll and asks him to figure out something with it.

The Hero heads to the Sage on the Cliff and gives him the scroll. The Sage tells the Hero that he can translate this document. The Hero goes to find Kiefer so that they can hear the explanation.

Armed with the information, the pair head back to the ruins and finally open it. After solving the secret of the ruins, they enter the Pedestal Room. They find two tablet pieces but are unable to complete the pictograph without the final piece. Having done all that can be done for now, the two leave the ruins and head back to their respective rooms.

When the Hero returns home, he is greeted by Pollock. He tells the Hero that he had found something interesting. He gives the Hero the missing tablet piece. With the final piece, the Hero finds Kiefer and they head back to the ruins.

When the boys get there, they are confronted by Maribel who threatens to expose their secret unless they take her with them. Having no other options, they agree. The trio get to the Pedestal Room and place the final piece in the Pedestal. An amazing thing happens. The trio are transported into the past.

Once they are able to free the land of its problem, it reappears in the present world. Thus the hero, Kiefer and Maribel head off to find all of the shards and restore the world to its proper form, and to defeat Orgodemir, the evil behind it all.

From there, they go on many adventures to restore the world to its former glory.
end

Abilities
The Hero learns the following abilities naturally.
Strategy
The Hero is very flexible in every category. He can equip most of the weapons and armors in the game. His statistics are above average which makes him very suited to be molded into whatever role the player would like. Players should make sure to have the Hero learn three intermediate classes so that the Hero Class is available as its move set are some of the best skills/spells to learn. It is also advisable to use the seeds that are found in-game on the Hero as he is the only character that stays with the player from beginning to end.

Trivia
*In the official manga, the Hero's name is Arus. In the English release of the 3DS version, he was given the default name Auster in promotional material.
*The Hero also appeared in the crossover game Itadaki Street Special for the PlayStation 2.
*According to a woman in Pilchard Bay, the Hero was born four months premature.
Sir Mervyn (formerly Melvin) is an elderly paladin who aided the Almighty in the fight against Orgodemir in Dragon Quest VII. Mervyn is wrapped in chain mail from head to toe, wears red leather boots and gloves, and a sword belt wrapped around his waist. He also wears the tunic similar to the other members of the Holy Order of the Almighty. He sports a bushy white mustache.

Personality
Mervyn is quite polite in conversation. He uses very formal diction, including archaic words such as thou and prithee. He is very polite to his comrades. For example, he calls the Hero Master Hero and Maribel Miss Maribel.

Mervyn has a strong sense of duty which prevents him from walking away when someone else is in need, such as in the case of Nottagen. This is also coupled with his strong sense of justice and intense hatred of the Demon King's machinations. He also has pride in his distinction as one of the Holy Order of the Almighty.

Mervyn, so used to the fighting he endured, is fascinated by the present world and its relative peacefulness. He takes a keen interest in exploring past worlds and righting the wrongs of the past.

Mervyn is also slightly perverted, demonstrated when he wishes to see Aishe dancing. He, at least, has the decency to apologize for this.

In the 3DS remake, if the player decides to look in a mirror while Sir Mervyn is the first character in the party line-up, he will agonize over his wrinkles, marvel over the modernity of mirrors, ponder if he should try out a bunny suit to distract from his less youthful features, comment that he is becoming more manly by day, see the glint in his eye reflected in the glass, discover another white hair, say that the wrinkles in one's face tell the story of their life, lament that he might have been a beloved hero if his nose had been straighter, sigh at his reflection, express happiness that his eyes haven't lost their sparkle, and sneeze on the mirror.

Past
Mervyn had long fought with the Almighty against the Demon King, Orgodemir. He is a seasoned veteran of these battles. However, before the final battle began, the Almighty sealed Mervyn into a stone against Mervyn's wishes. His reasoning was because the Almighty felt as though he wouldn't survive the encounter with the Demon King. The stone, known as the Hero Stone, was sent far away from the battle. Mervyn became a legend and is venerated as a hero. The Hero Stone lore became lost.

However, through chance, Pike came into possession of the Hero Stone. He called it the Sizzling Stone because of the heat that radiated from it. He tried to sell it to people but they didn't want it. One day, he did find a buyer in Bulgio who paid an obscene amount of gold for it, knowing its true purpose.

Bulgio knew that the Sizzling Stone was actually the Hero Stone, and wanted to revive Mervyn to be his servant. To do so, he had to climb the World's Tallest Tower and place the Sizzling Stone on the altar. Doing so would release Mervyn from the seal.

Synopsis
After Bulgio and the party release Mervyn from the Hero Stone, he thanks them for doing so. Bulgio expresses some disappointment at Mervyn, who he expected to be a muscular, refined man---or even a beautiful woman. Bulgio allows Sir Mervyn to go with the Hero and his party. Mervyn expresses his wishes to find out what happened to the world after the battle between the Almighty and the Demon King.

After the part defeats the Demon Lord in the past, they set themselves on reviving the Almighty. With the help of the Roamers and Johann, they are successful in doing so. He thanks the party and the Roamers for his revival and promises that the world will enter a new era of peace.

Months pass by as Mervyn works by God's side in the new Crystal Palace, created next to Estard. However, Mervyn notices a change in God. He sees that God is sealing away worlds that are steeped in evil. Being suspicious, he asks God why he is doing this and is instantly branded a traitor. Mervyn escapes the Crystal Palace and makes it to Buccanham. There, he uses MindSpeak, a telekinetic ability that allows a person to reach another and communicate with them mentally, to tell the Hero and the party what he uncovered at the Crystal Palace. Mervyn explains that God has sealed all of the worlds that he deemed evil and Estard was one of them. He asks them to try and uncover the four elemental spirits but they tell him that they are unable to go anywhere. Mervyn realizes that in order for them to continue on their quest, he must find the Pilot Fire in Coastal. By himself, he makes his way to the Beacon where the Guiding Light is burning. He mentally sends them the Guiding Light so the party can find the elemental spirits.

After Estard and all of the lands are unsealed, Mervyn inexplicably returns, giving the player the option of putting him in the final party against the Demon Lord.

Ending
When the Demon King is defeated, the party is transported to the Divine Shrine. There, the descendants of the Order thank the party for defeating the Demon King. Mervyn elects to stay in the Divine Shrine. He thanks the party for helping him save the world.

|}}

<center>Amitt's only daughter. She has a tendency to think that the whole world revolves around her. Nonetheless, she is a faithful friend to you and Kiefer.

--Description from the Dragon Quest VII instructional manual.</center>

Maribel Mayde (マリベル, Mariberu) is the daughter of the mayor of Pilchard Bay in the game Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.

Appearance
Maribel has long auburn hair that she wears in curls. She wears a simple orange and green one piece robe over a red dress, brown shoes, and a orange kerchief over her hair.

Personality
Maribel is quite snobbish. Being the daughter of the mayor has helped nurture this trait. Her target is usually the Hero. She regards him as a lackey, expecting him to provide protection to her, even in battle. She is often very pushy, especially when she doesn't get her way. Maribel has no problem expressing her opinion on any subject, going so far as to label the Wind Spirit a slut. To her parents, she is too rambunctious and they would like her to be more ladylike. However, beneath her abrasive exterior is a considerate heart. After she learns of her father's illness, she voluntarily leaves the party to look after him.

As the game progresses, Maribel slowly becomes a more mature and caring person. She also shows more consideration towards others, being more sympathetic towards the plight of the people in each town the party visits. Being away on her adventures makes her miss home and appreciate the love of her parents, especially as they finally come to understand one another. She is even able to become more honest with her feelings, very nearly expressing affection towards the Hero once they are both back in Pilchard Bay.

Maribel is shown to be capable of putting on a charming front when she wants to. She gets along well with Pearl, the Hero's mother - possibly to the player's chagrin. Pearl even remarks a few times that she thinks Maribel is a good influence on the Hero. Maribel is very concerned with her appearance, often making unprompted remarks on her own beauty.

In the 3DS remake, if the player decides to look in a mirror while Maribel is the first character in the party line-up, she will wonder if she has put on or lost weight, say her face is a masterpiece (to her parents' credit), mention she is glad she didn't inherit her father's looks, wish for a slightly straighter nose, decide she looks best with a smile on her face, comment that she manages to look good even in a shoddy old mirror, fix her hair, worry over her skin lacking its usual glow, discover a spot, and wink cheekily at herself.

Beginning
In the beginning of the night, Maribel is talking to the Hero. She asks him if he will ever tell her where he and Kiefer go every day. Regardless of what the player answers, she will tell him that she will find out someday.

On the day of the pilchard harvest, Maribel tries to stow away on the fishing expedition. However she is found out by the hero. When she yells at him for revealing her hiding spot, she is discovered by the ship's cook who proceeds to throw her off the ship.

Afterwards, King Donald summons the hero to Estard Castle. Maribel witnesses this summons and tags along, telling him that she wanted to go shopping in the castle town. The two head to the castle town where she leaves him to talk to the king, telling him that she can find her way back home by herself.

When the Hero and Kiefer are about to unlock the secret of the Estard Ruins, Maribel finds them. She threatens them to take her along with them or else she will tell everyone about their secret. Faced with this dilemma, the two allow her to tag along as they finish exploring the ruins. When the Hero activates the pedestal that leads to Ballymolloy, Maribel is shocked at the happenings. The three of them are transported to Ballymolloy.

After the party clears Providence, Nottagen and Hubble, Maribel exclaims that she is tired. She decides to head to her house to rest. Before they leave the Ruins, they are encountered by an Estard soldier. He tells Maribel that her father, Mayor Mayde has taken ill. Maribel hurries home to see her father bedridden, being attended to by the local priest and her mother. Maribel is in no position to adventure at this junction.

Revival of God
After the Hero, Ruff, Aishe and King Burns are thrown off the Sky Stone, the island of Estard is sealed, they go to see Maribel. She asks the Hero if there is a seal on their continent. She realizes that the party needs her help to remove the seal and rejoins the party.

End Game
When the Demon Lord is defeated, the party goes through the lands and they sing the praises of the heroes.

After several months, the Amitt Festival occurs. Maribel once again tries to stow away on the ship but is found out by the Hero. She starts to chew him out until she is caught by the Head Cook again. However, Pollock allows Maribel to come on the fishing voyage this time, to her delight.

Strategy
Maribel is the weakest character, physically speaking. She will not be dealing high damage until she reaches Alltrades Abbey where she can change her class. She can, however, equip whips which deal successive damage to groups of enemies. Conversely, she has high MP which makes her better suited to magic classes like Mage and Priest. It should be noted that this will make her more frail and so she should always be situated in the back row.

She can equip knives, staves, and whips to attack and wear robes, dresses, and other lightweight armour. Maribel should also be given items such as the Salvation Stone and the Staff of Salvation so she can be designated healer. Oddly enough, she is also capable of equipping the powerful metal king sword.

Maribel leaves the party after the events of Nottagen, Providence and Hubble. Because of this, when the player gets her back after defeating the Demon King the first time, she is extremely frail in comparison. To assuage this, the player must remember to get her some weapons and armor from Buccanham or the Divine Shrine so that she isn't weak when she joins the party again.

Other Appearances
Dragon Quest IX
Maribel appears as a special guest at Quester's Rest as part of a Wi-Fi downloadable update. She will present the Hero with various pieces of armor modeled after her outfit for meeting certain requirements. An Accolade can be earned if the Hero is equipped with all of the pieces of Maribel's outfit.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory
Maribel can be summoned to perform a special attack. After she is summoned from the Shrine of Mysteries, she uses the Magma staff to create a volcanic eruption. However, she underestimates its power and Sir Mervyn has to leap in and rescue her. She uses him as leverage and leaps into the air, before channeling the power of the eruption into a massive fireball that she launches at enemies.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End
Maribel appears as one of the playable characters in the game. Her Coup de Grâce is similar to her special attack in Battle Road Victory, but this time she is able to harness the power of the volcano on her own before unleashing it on a group of enemies. Her weapon of choice is a boomerang, ironically despite not being able to equip any boomerangs in her original game.

A boy raised in the wild, full of innocence and warmth. Despite his youth, he has incredible survival instincts, and can run circles around the fiercest of monsters. Little is known about his background.

--Description from the Dragon Quest VII PSX instructional manual.

Ruff (ガボ, Gabo in Japanese and the original PSX localization) is a playable character in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. He is a White Wolf that was turned into a human.

Appearance
Ruff is a small, young boy with long unkempt black hair. He appears to be missing one of his front teeth. He is bare-chested, but wears a blue cloth that is fixed like a cape, sackcloth shorts held together by a rope, and a sackcloth bandana on top of his shaggy mane. In the 3DS remake, Ruff is shown riding the wolf accompanying him in his official illustrations. This wolf's appearance sometimes changes along with Ruff's when their vocations change.

Personality
When the player gains Ruff as a party member in the beginning, he is unable to communicate because he was originally a white wolf. However, due to a spell by Hackrobat, he is able to speak. Maribel says that he is "quite the talker".

Ruff carries over traits from being a White Wolf, including agility and enhanced senses. He is a fast runner on two feet. He can also bite an enemy and paralyze them, however this was only shown after the battle against Hackrobat and not since.

He is constantly looking to eat. Should the Hero talk with him, Ruff almost always asks for food. He also loves competition and fighting. He looks for any chance to prove himself.

Ruff doesn't understand complicated human behavior such as courtship and tact. During the quest in Greenthumb Gardens, Ruff speaks of his confusion concerning Carraway and Lavender. At Alltrades Abbey, Ruff asks Eustace why legs are so short. He appears to have a precocious crush on Jacqueline, as he becomes dismayed when the party returns to the present to find that an old man has taken her place at Alltrades Abbey in the present.

In the 3DS remake, if the player decides to look in a mirror while Ruff is the first character in the party line-up, he will admire his nose, state that he licks his face clean every morning, find some leftover breakfast around the corner of his mouth, express confusion at seeing his own reflection, have fun watching his movements in the mirror, comment on how short his tongue is as a human compared to when he was a wolf, and say that mirrors don't taste nice to lick.

History
Ruff was born to a white wolf who just finished fighting Hackrobat. The fight injured her to the point where, after she gave birth to him, she died.

Ruff was taken in by a farmer in the town of L'Arca and was chained to a wall for both the farmer's protection and the comfort of Ruff. However, Hackrobat came to the town. To spite the White Wolves, he turned all of the residents of L'arca into animals and vice versa (meaning Ruff is transformed into a human). The chain, which was probably comfortable in his wolf form, was now choking him.

Synopsis
The Hero, Kiefer, and Maribel reach L'arca after Hackrobat's spell. Inside a shack, they find Ruff chained to a wall by his neck. The Hero and his party is unable to free him.

After getting the woodcutter from the present, he frees Ruff and he runs out of the town.

As the party begin to fight Hackrobat, Ruff arrives and bites the monster. The party, along with the woodcutter, engage the monster in combat. The party defeats Hackrobat and Ruff bites him again. With this bite, Hackrobat is paralyzed. He realizes that Ruff is actually a white wolf who was caught in the spell that he cast in L'Arca. As a parting gift, Hackrobat casts his final spell on him. This spell curses him to remain in human form forever. The party reseals Hackrobat in the coffin again, undoing the spell in L'Arca.

After the battle is finished, the party thanks the boy, who identifies himself as Ruff. They are surprised that he is able to speak but he can only communicate in simple sentences like "Ruff go" and growling.

The party returns to L'Arca to see the spell undone. They visit the farmer who took care of Ruff to find to his disbelief that the wolf had disappeared. Leaving the shack, they see Ruff and his wolf friend outside the building. The woodcutter understands that he wanted to thank the man for his kindness. It is in this moment that the woodcutter decides to adopt Ruff.

They party, along with the wolf, the woodcutter, and Ruff return to the portal and step through it, finding themselves back in the Shrine of Mysteries. The woodcutter tries to bring Ruff with him but he refuses, saying that the seal on Hackrobat could have only been broken on the outside and that whomever broke the seal was very powerful. Therefore, he wanted to defeat the evil that broke the seal in the Grotta del Sigilo. The woodcutter acknowledges this request and allows Ruff to go with the party.

The party goes to the Grotta del Sigilo in the present and returns to the place where the monster was previously sealed. They hear a voice telling them to "run away or face the consequences". Instead, they opened up the coffin once more. Hackrobat is revealed to be in a human form now. He figures that it is punishment for what he did before. He recognizes the party and wants to make up what he did to Ruff in the past. He tries using magic to return Ruff to his wolf form, but he fails. Instead, he makes him more human and gives Ruff the power to speak the human language. Ruff is ecstatic that he is finally able to communicate with the party. Hackrobat also gives the party a Blue Fragment to the party. The party leaves the Grotta del Sigillo to continue on their adventure.
Strategy
When the player obtains Ruff after L'Arca, he starts at level 1. Therefore, it is advisable to keep him in the back until he gains levels. After level 2, he gains Bark which will allow him to participate in battle. As he gains levels, he can move to third position until he is on the same levels as the rest of the party.

Ruff is naturally fast. Attacks miss him more often than the rest of the party. When he reaches the same levels as the party, he will usually attack first. He will also gain strength in bounds so that when he reaches certain levels, he is doing significant damage. When he learns Rip and Howl, he will become more adept in defeating enemies.

Ruff can equip light armor and furs. He is the only one who can wield claws and fangs. Much like a martial artist, Ruff's attack will actually goes down if he equips certain weapons such as swords. He is also capable of equipping boomerangs.

As Ruff is the only party member besides the Hero to stay in the party throughout the duration of the game, he is best made to learn classes that increase his strength, like Warrior and Martial Artist. It would also be a good idea for him to become a Priest, as both the Hero and Maribel learn healing magic naturally. If the player wishes to learn advance classes, Ruff and the Hero are the best bet.

Notes
Ruff is depicted riding the white wolf in the 3DS version, so when he is learning the way of the Shepherd, his mount will appear as a "wolf in sheep's clothing".

In fact, many people from Estard, including King Donald feel a connection to her, even though they have never met before, pushing the implication that Aishe is the descendant of Kiefer.

Personality
Aishe is quite the forceful person. Whatever she decides to do, she does and damn the consequences. Many of the tribe find it hard to tell her what to do or what she should do.

However, this isn't to say that she is a brat.

Abilities
Aishe joins the party at level 21 and already several abilities learned.

Abilities
Maribel learns the following abilities naturally.

Synopsis

From there, they go on many adventures to restore the world to its former glory.
end
