The '''Dragovians''' are an intelligent race of half-human, half-dragons in the world of ''[[Dragon Quest VIII]]'', though little of them can be found out by the player until after the game's end.

==Characteristics==
The standard Dragovian isn't far off in appearance from a normal person; the difference in their human forms comes from their ears, which terminate into small dragon frills. They can apparently turn into full-fledged dragons, though their [[Lord of the Dragovians|lord]] is the only one seen in-game to do this.

Dragovians aren't very fond of humans, despite being part-human themselves, and the single known Dragovian society is cut off from the rest of the human world.

According to some [[Black Citadel#Book 4|ancient chronicles]], the Dragovians fought against [[Rhapthorne]], only to result in nearly being wiped out.

==Dragovian and Dragovian Related Characters==

*[[Hero (Dragon Quest VIII)|Hero]] - The hero of the game turns out to be half-Dragovian, thus possibly one-fourth dragon. Very little in the game hints to this prior to the post-completion events regarding the Dragovians, except maybe the Dragon Soul attack ability if obtained prior to said events.
*[[Xia]] - The hero's mother, a Dragovian female that fell in love with the Argonian prince Eltrio. 
*[[Chen Mui]] - The hero's grandfather, and father of Xia, who decided to follow the hero in the form of a mouse, Munchie.
*[[Lord of the Dragovians]] - The one who presides over the Dragovian race. He is incredibly powerful, possibly more-so than even [[Rhapthorne]], and is also the one responsible for placing a curse on the hero to seal away his memories of his original home, an act that would make him immune to all other curses.{{spoiler|end}}

*A muscular, elderly hermit living in a [[Waterfall Hut|hut]] atop the [[Waterfall Cave]] near [[Farebury]] is a Dragovian. While he lacks the frill-ended ears of Dragovians, he dresses similarly, seems to know what (or possibly who) Munchie is, and tells of how popular cheese is back where he hails from and how he always gets too much pushed on him when he goes to visit, this cheese affinity being something the player becomes quickly familiar with during the events involving the Dragovians. He can offer these same cheeses to the hero, which can then be used in battle by the hero to enable Munchie to unleash breath moves. An extra cutscene will play if the hero visits his hut after Chen Mui's identity is revealed, where the hermit confirms his true identity.{{spoiler|end}}

'''Dragovians''' are dragons that take the form of a human. They live in a place called Dragonia. It had remained closed to the outside world until a girl left, then fell in love with the human prince of Argonia. They will sometimes breed with a human, resulting in human-Dragovian hybrids. An example of a hybrid is the [[Hero (Dragon Quest VIII)|hero]] of [[Dragon Quest VIII]]. Dragovians (and half-Dragovians) are naturally immune to curses, such as the curse [[Rhapthorne]] placed on [[Trodain Castle]] (okay, note here, this is TOTALLY NOT TRUE. If one actually played the game then they'd know that the hero is only immune to curses because of the whopper of a curse put on him by the Dragovian Lord, yo, to seal his memories. It was that giant curse on him all the time that made him immune to other curses). When they are born, the Dragovian child will be protected by its parents. If the parents aren't able to protect the child, a relative will protect the child. When it becomes an adult, it will find a mate. Dragovians usually don't mate with humans because they hate humans. Xia was the first to mate with a Human. When a Dragovian finds a human that it wants to mate with, it transforms into a human. Because Dragovians are forbidden to mate with humans, the father and child were not allowed to enter Dragonia.-->
