The '''Grinade''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}. First appearing in {{Dragon Quest VII}}, it is a weaker, yellowish variant of the [[Rockbomb]].

==Characteristics==
In terms of appearance, the grinade is identical to the [[rockbomb]], but made up of yellowish-orange rock instead, with the same familiar red eyes and jagged smiles. They are generally the weakest of their [[Material family|rocky]] relations. These smiling yellow bold boulders must rely on physical attacks, since they have yet to develop the spark that allows them to explode or self-sacrifice like their brethren. They allow adventurers to let their guards down and then save up their strength to launch themselves at their foes, full force by using their '''[[Focus Strength]]''' skill.  Sometimes they just simple spend a turn just staring, and others they find something funny enough to blindly fling themselves at the enemy, cackling madly.

* The grinade's name is taken from grin, a type of smile, and grenade, an explosive used in warfare. This naming is presently a misnomer, as none of the Grinade's current appearances show it able to sacrifice itself in any way, unlike its relatives, save for its appearance in {{XI}} where it can use [[Self Destruct]] during the sidequest involving the [[Rainbow Mines]].
