The '''Gryphon''' is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first introduced in ''[[Dragon Quest VI]]''. They are based on the mythological creature of the same name, which is a cross between eagle and lion.

==Characteristics== 
The '''gryphon''' is a great grim beast that's close to a goofy '''Griffin''', with a beast-like body and a massively broad wingspan. The eagle half of their body has red-orange plumage while the lion half of their body has dull brown fur. They have white fur around their necks, a third eye on their foreheads, and a long purple tongue sticking out of their golden beaks. Their oddly placed eyes make it harder for foes to know who they're going to flap at. They possess crushing claws that they use to grip their prey before gouging them with pointed poking beaks. They're also capable of confounding the party with '''Fizzle''', stopping their capability to cast spells, along with the blistering '''Bazoom''' which flings foes far out of battle.
