Starting from the ''Definitive Edition'', if a Slime knight is sparkling, its slime [[Horse and monster riding|mount]] can be ridden after defeating it in battle, though compared to most ride-able monsters where the original rider disappears after being defeated in battle, the rider of the Slime knight does not disappear. When ridden, the [[Hero (Dragon Quest XI)|Luminary]] holds the Slime knight's sword and shield while hopping along the ground. The Luminary can use the sword to defeat some monsters along the path. The original rider can be also seen holding onto its slime steed while the Luminary moves about.
