The brigandine consists of a red long-sleeved jacket reinforced with metal bands worn over chain mail. In mobile games such as ''Stars'' and ''Walk'', the armour is also worn with the [[brigand's mitts]].

==Etymology==
[[Wikipedia:Brigandine|Brigandine]] is a type of body armour from the Middle Ages. It is a garment made from heavy fabric, such as canvas or leather, that is lined internally with steel plates riveted onto the fabric. Brigandine is much more flexible than armour made from large plates as the overlapping plates offer a degree of movement. It has a double meaning as the armour is said to be favoured by brigands and thieves.

The brigandine's original Japanese name, Banded chain (バンデッドチェイン, ''Bandeddo chein''), has a double meaning as the word "banded" has a similar pronunciation to the word "bandit" (バンデット, ''bandetto'') in Japanese. This is also the origin of the [[Bandit mail]]'s name.
