Blessed Breath is a light-based breath attack that emits a burst of shining light at enemies. Previously, it lacked a proper skill name akin to Scorch, Freezing Blizzard, etc, and was referred to by its text description when used by enemies. Depending on the game, it inflicts either Electric or Light-elemental damage.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

Blessed Breath is an enemy-only skill that inflicts light-elemental damage to the entire party. When used, the in-game text states that the user "exhales a cloud of blinding light". The amount of damage inflicted is dependent on the monster using it:

Monster Damage range
Yore 55~74
Greygnarl 55~74
Godsteed 153~186
Pale whale 153~186
Greygnarl* 187~228
  • The grotto boss battle

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Blessed Breath inflicts Light-based breath damage in a fan-shaped area in front of the user, the damage being dependent on the user's level. It can be used by hybirds, Polka dot dragons, moai minstrels, frou-frous when they are enraged, Nemean, and Archimaera.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Blinding flames are used by the noble dragons, labradrakes, and mechan-o'-wyrms, dealing over 100 damage if unprotected. Light-based attacks share the same element as the Bang line of spells, so anything that reduces damage from those spells will dim the flames.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit]

Blessed Breath costs 22 MP and deals 100~180 Light-elemental damage to all enemies, with a chance to blind them for 2~5 turns. It is learned the Blow Hard, Breath Worker, Cheesy Grin, Deep Breather, Greygnarl, Heavenly Herald, Ramia, Respirator, and Sizz Virtuoso talents.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[edit]

Blessed Breath can be learned by various monsters, including Ramia, prism peacocks, godsteeds, and ewwnicorns. It costs 55 MP to use and inflicts major Zap-type breath damage on all enemies.

Dragon Quest Walk[edit]

Blessed Breath is a skill that can be learned by a barbatos, minidemon, or slime knight monster companion at level 50. It costs 34 MP to use and inflicts Bang-type breath damage on all enemies.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]

Blessed Breath can be learned by abracadabrador at level 20 and prism peacock at level 36, costing 27 MP to use. It inflicts moderate Zap-type breath damage on all enemies in a range of three squares in front of the user. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll, which is received as a reward for completing Level 2 of the Dragon Fest's Lightning Den or from the seventh stage of Ramia's Battle Road during the True Dragon Quest III event.
