The garter is a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series. It is an undergarment that can only be equipped by female characters.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation remakes only[edit]

Only appearing in the remakes, the garter has a Defence boost of +3, but more importantly changes the Personality of the wearer to Vamp. It can be equipped by any vocation as long as they are female. One can be obtained by turning in 10 Mini medals to the collector in Aliahan. Another garter can be found onboard the Phantom Ship. The last garter can be found in a dresser at the Immigrant Town's theater after defeating the Boss troll in Manoza. However, if the player waits too long and the town reaches its final stage, it will be replaced by a Dummy instead. The garter can be sold for 975 gold, but it is not recommended to do so as there is a limited amount in the game.

The garter has a Defence boost of +3 and a Style bonus of +15. It can only be worn by Maribel Mayde and Aishe. One can be found at Wilted Heart. In the original Sony PlayStation version, garters can be purchased at the Grand Slum final evolution of Immigrant Town for 3,300 gold coins and sold for 1,650 gold coins. Garters can also be won as prizes from the Lucky Panel at the Casinos in Buccanham and the Haven.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

The garter has a Defence boost of +6. It can only be worn by Jessica Albert, as well as Red in the Nintendo 3DS version. One can be found at Trodain castle, one in Baccarat, and another at Red's Den in a chest requiring the Ultimate Key. They can also be dropped by Dark Turkey. It can be sold for 700 gold coins. The garter can be mixed with a Hunter's bow in the Alchemy Pot to create an Eros' bow.
