In the Dragon Quest I remake, single-use magic keys are replaced with a system more typical of later games in the series, where the player must find or make the thief's key, magic key, and final key. As such, the "Warlock of Doorlocks" in the northwest corner of town no longer sells magic keys, but is attempting to create a permanent magic key such as Erdrick had, since all his attempts so far have disintegrated after a single use. Rimuldar is also where members of Gwaelin's guard go after one of them gets sick with an unknown ailment. These stories end up intertwining as the hero helps the old man in exchange for his help healing the guardsman.
