The '''Firebird''' is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in {{DQ5}}. It is a fire-breathing bird of prey.

The firebird is a large [[Bird family|bird]] whose plumage is various shades of red, orange, and yellow. Most of its body is orange with a long red tail, a red head and neck, and golden feathers on its head and neck, as well as gold talons. In battle, it breathes out fiery breath of varying intensity to cook foes alive.  

Although the firebird made its debut in ''Dragon Quest V'', it would not make a return to the main series until ''X'' two decades later. It has made regular appearances in the ''Monsters'' series of games, as well as various other spinoffs along with its [[Snowbird|icy counterpart]]. In some games, it has been a member of the [[Beast family]], as well as the [[Nature family]].

Firebird appears as a B-rank monster of the [[Nature family]]. Unlike the original game, firebirds can be found and scouted from the wild.

Firebird appears as a B-rank monster of the [[Nature family]] as part of the limited ''Dragon Quest V'' event. It can be recruited from Lower Level West of the [[Knightmare Towers]] at any difficulty, eventually becoming recruitable in the second part of the storyline from Chapter 4, Episode 4: A Night-Time Incident. The firebird can participate in [[Kon the Knight]]'s Battle Road as a party member.
