However, your not allowed to join the trip and instead Kiefer, the Prince of Estard unravel a mystery from a ruined temple that will change [[Estard]] forever.

| The gameplay is similar to [[Dragon Quest VI]] in both combat and the unique class system. Battles are turn based, where the character or enemy with the highest Agility goes first. Strength and Attack determines how much damage you deal on your enemies, Defense/Guard determines how much damage you'll resist, and so on. Equiping weapons will increase your Strength while equiping armor increases your Defense/Guard. Weapons also have other abilities, like some can be used while in battle. Some weapons, like the Boomerang, can attack all enemies or once and whips can attack enemy groups. Magic and Skills are a very important part in the combat and class system. You can learn them by 'maturing or 'leveling' in your selected class once you are able to do so.
