The Malign vine (formerly HellVine) is a monster in the game Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. It is a much more powerful version of the similar Gripevine.
Characteristics
A mean menacing monster vine that terrorizes entire towns and areas with persistent wicked creeping vines that can smash through anything and any one. With a massive red budding head and terrible teeth and a gross green tongue protruding from its ugly maw. Capable of envenoming enemies with the drool that drips from its menacing mouth and flinging out a flashy spell that blinds all enemies, making it even harder for foes to fight off its vile vines. It uses its writhing roots to smash down enemies out of action.
