Dieamend
DQV Dieamend.png
Japanese いのちのいし
命の石
Romaji {{{romaji}}}
Old localizations Stone of Life (DQIII NES),
Life Stone (DQIII GBC),
LifeRock (DQVII PS1)
Found in Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Effect If a character holds this in their inventory and are targeted by an instant death magic spell, this stone will take the spell in their stead, and shatter afterwards.

Dieamends are special stones that will absorb instant death magic for the user. If a character is targeted by whack or thwack and possess this stone in their inventory, the stone will take the instant death spell in place of the user, and shatters afterward.

Note that in the Japanese version of Dragon Quest IX, an item with the Japanese name for this item appeared (命の石 inochi no ishi Life Stone), but in the English version of that game it was localized as Resurrock. This was probably done because in Dragon Quest IX, it is merely an alchemy ingredient in that game and has none of the instant death preventing properties it has in other games.

Appearances

Dragon Quest III

The Dieamend can be found in the following locations:

They are also sold in an item shop in the Pachisi Board in the Zipangu well (GBC Version only) for 800 gold coins. They couldn't be sold in the NES Version, but can be sold in the remakes for 600 gold coins.

Monsters who might drop the item include:

Dragon Quest V

In the original Super Famicom version of the game, they cannot be bought. They can be found in the Gotha Path as well as the bedroom in Gotha, amongst others. Monsters such as the Stone golem and Bomboulder drop them.

In the remakes, in addition to the above, Dieamends can be purchased from late game shops for 300 gold apiece, and sold for 150 gold.

Dragon Quest VII

They can be bought in both past and present versions of Al-Balad as well as the slum version of The Haven for 800 gold, and sold for 400 gold. Enemies such as the Grinade, Rockbomb, and Stone golem drop them.

Dragon Quest IX

Appears as an alchemy ingredient with the name of Resurrock. For more information, see: List of alchemy ingredients in Dragon Quest IX.

Dragon Quest XI

Appears as a forging ingredient, without any of the instant death preventing effects in most previous games.
