Dancers were introduced as a vocation starting with Version 3.0, alongside the [[Fortune Teller]]. They are modeled after the abilities of Maya and Meena. Dancers can support their allies by using songs and dances, can cast the [[Frizz]] and [[Sizz]] series of spells along with other utility magic, and are capable of dual wielding one-handed weapons. Their weapons of choice are [[Knives]], [[Fans]], and [[Wand]]s. Although they have low HP and defence, they have a high evasion rate. As of yet, they are currently the only vocation that has access to two vocation-specific commands, taking over singing duties since [[Bard]]s do not exist in the game.

"A gifted groover whose dazzling array of moves can both captivate the enemy and come to the party's aid"
--description from Dragon Quest VII

The Dancer (踊り子, Odoriko) is a character class in Dragon Quest VI, Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest X.

Description

The dancer has good style and agility, and can learn several different kinds of dances that debilitate or disable foes. When a party member becomes a dancer, they are more likely to avoid attacks, with the chance depending on their current rank. The exact rate varies between games.

With the vocation's addition to the tenth game, the specialization in Frizz and Sizz spells became a focus of the career on top of cutting a rug.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

Dancer is one of the basic classes available. It is one of the prerequisites for the Luminary vocation (along with Gadabout).

Usefulness

Although the Dancer takes 120 battles to master and it has some good skills, when Aishe joins the party, she has already mastered the dancer class. Aishe should be given the time to learn the Sword Dance skill as it is one of the best battle skills in Dragon Quest VII. It is also the most cost effective skill in terms of overall power.

The Hero and Ruff should also learn the Sword Dance skill. It takes 108 battles to bring both classes' levels to the 5th tier where they will learn Sword Dance.

Dragon Quest X

Dancers were introduced as a vocation starting with Version 3.0, alongside the Fortune Teller. They are modeled after the abilities of Maya and Meena. Dancers can support their allies by using songs and dances, can cast the Frizz and Sizz series of spells along with other utility magic, and are capable of dual wielding one-handed weapons. Their weapons of choice are Knives, Fans, and Wands. Although they have low HP and defence, they have a high evasion rate. As of yet, they are currently the only vocation that has access to two vocation-specific commands, taking over singing duties since Bards do not exist in the game.

Dragon Quest Walk

Dancers and Gadabouts as they appear in Walk.

Dancers, along with Gadabouts, were added to the game in a September 2020 update. It is available as a basic vocation to players and their weapons of choice are Swords, Knives, and Whips. In order to unlock the Luminary vocation, a character must have reached level 50 in the dancer and gadabout vocations.

Notable Dancers

  • Maya (though her abilities are based on the Mage)
  • Milly resembles a dancer, and is immune to Ban Dance in the original version of VI
  • Lala is a ceremonial dancer of the Roamers.
  • Aishe is the newest ceremonial dancer of the Roamer tribe and joins the party with the vocation already mastered.
