The Betterfly is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III. It is a venomous, teal-coloured variant of the Batterfly that is known to prey upon humans.
Characteristics
Betterflies are large, unusual moths with a teal, cartoonish dog-like face at the center of their bodies, their maws filled with sharp fangs that they use to bite with. Their wings are dark green with orange spots. In the remake versions of Dragon Quest III, as well as Stars, the betterflies have a completely different colour scheme, having purple wings, bright green heads, and pink lips. Like their lesser blue cousins, betterflies are able to envelop enemies in illusions by casting Dazzle, and then poison them with their venomous fangs.
