Pepper (Black Pepper) is a quest-related item in Dragon Quest III. It is required before The Hero can obtain a ship.
Location
Black Pepper can only be obtained in Baharata. However, in order to obtain it, the hero must first confront Kandar for the second time in order to free the shopkeeper's daughter, Tania and her boyfriend Galen. Afterward, the Black Pepper is given to the hero.
Quest for a Ship
By giving the Black Pepper to the King of Portoga, the hero can obtain the ship.
Remake
Though it serves no use in the game, you can receive more Pepper upon further visits.
