The scandalous swimsuit is a leotard that appeared in first appeared in Dragon Quest II, setting the precedent for skimpy clothing in the series.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit]
The swimsuit was planned to appear in the NES version of the game game, but was scrapped due to development crunch. In the 14th issue of Famicom Tsushin, 1987, it was stated to have been similar to the mink mantle in terms of Defense power and outrageous cost.
In the MSX2 version, the bikini was properly implemented as an equipable armor. It is reserved for the Princess of Moonbrooke, naturally, and every enemy has a 1/8th chance to be stunned by her beauty when she's wearing it. If the King of Tantegel is spoken to with the swimsuit in the party's possession but not equipped, the crude and lewd cutscene will play out and display the Princess wearing the bikini in rather primitive 8-bit glory.
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]
The scandalous swimsuit has a bonus of +1. In the NES version, it can be purchased from Asham for 1,100 gold coins. In the remakes, the scandalous swimsuit can only be purchased in Damdara for the exorbitant price of 78,000 gold coins and can be sold for 58,500. One can also be found in the fifth T'n'T board at Jipang (Absent from the NES and cell phone versions).
The scandalous swimsuit can be equipped only by females and also changes their appearance on the field. Each vocation has a different sprite in the Super Famicom and Gameboy Color version, but the merchant's sprite is used for every lady in the iOS/Android port.

Dragon Quest Builders[edit]
In a strong break from tradition, even men are able to wear the scandalous swimsuit—it is modified into a red fundoshi loincloth and does not include a top piece. It increases defence by +1, requires one piece of finest fur, magic dye, and cord to craft, and can be assembled at a mason’s workstation or sewing station. The recipe is obtained in the third chapter of the game.
Dragon Quest Builders 2[edit]
The bikini was granted a quintuple buff and now increases defence by +5. The recipe is the reward for building a Pool of Paradise on the Isle of Awakening, and requires three lumps of cotton and one cord to assemble.
Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]
The scandalous swimsuit is the thirty-sixth Legendary Armour in the game, and has a base value of 1,780,000.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
The Scandalous Swimsuit is an S-rank piece of armour that can be acquired as part of the limited Hijinks on the High Seas!
