Talk:Dragon Quest Wiki
LogoEdit
Not to step on anybody's toes, but wouldn't it be interesting and iconic to have the Slime in this wikia's logo? SpongeBathBill 19:22, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
genau dragon quest ist super!
HelloEdit
Your spoiler and navigation templates coding is straightly ripped from Final Fantasy Wikia. Least you could do is refer the history of such templates from the Final Fantasy Wiki to credit the people who worked on them. - Henryacores^ 22:07, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- If that's the case then I might go and try to tweak those templates some (even though I hardly ever see the spoiler tag since the front page of this wiki gives a spoiler warning). I'll make note of this in the template pages for now, but are you certain the templates originated from Final Fantasy Wiki? When something is borrowed once it doesn't take long for it to get around. Just sayin'. --PantheonSasuke 23:49, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
Who has deleted everything?! T_T
DQ NewsEdit
We might wanna hold off on praising the number of articles we have, especially when the vast majority of said articles are duplicates, ehheh heh... ehh... --PantheonSasuke 00:15, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
I fixed it. ha ha. --Pagoda 05:16, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Playable Characters TemplateEdit
Does we need to make a distinction between playable characters and non-playable characters in each Dragon Quest series characters Template?151.95.106.12 20:03, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
Recent EditEdit
The most recent edit here, as of this talk edit, placed this bit of text on the main page.
ja:DRAGON QUEST Wiki de: es:
... along with a picture of Sancho. The text was given links pertaining to the ja:DRAGON QUEST, the de:, and the es:, which from what I see, looks like language options (Japanese, Deutsch (sp), English), but I don't think this wiki has those kind of options on it.
So... was there purpose to this edit? Or should it be regarded as gibberish and rolled back? --PantheonSasuke 02:46, October 4, 2010 (UTC)
Unless there's going to be a translation of the wiki, it should be removed. Moreover, the home page should be locked to all but administrators to cut down on vandalism. This is how it is done on other wikis and it is a good idea. Otherwise, you'll have what happened to another wiki that shall remain unnamed that had on its homepage Kill all of the (insert pejorative here). --Shinitenshi 03:02, October 4, 2010 (UTC)
Homepage RedesignEdit
The homepage has been redesigned! I went ahead and took a stab at creating something that is dynamic and interesting based off of the old Dragon Quest Wiki and the existing homepage. Please feel free to give comments and feedback as I am not married to anything about it. Here are a few points to note...
- The Dragon Quest News is pulled from the Dragon's Den RSS feed. I'm sure there is a better way to style it, but I didn't go that far yet.
- I don't have a schedule for how often the featured video will be updated yet.
- I'm not genius when it comes to colors and designs. It would be great if we could find someone to do some design/image work for the wiki. Woodus was generous enough to make the logo. It would be nice to come up with a good color scheme so that everything looks a bit more polished. It can really make the difference when visitors come to the homepage.

Independent WikisEdit
Well now that you are an independent wiki, you'll find out how difficult it is to keep afloat and grow beyond the dedicated core members. I own operate WiKirby and work in NIWA (Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance). We're more than a simple link exchange, sometimes you might need assistance on things beyond the experience of your members. NIWA is meant to bring independent Nintendo wiki editors, staff, and developers together and help one another grow and implement the tools they want. If you guys want to be a part of that, we'll be glad to have a Dragon Quest wiki in. Feel free to browse the wikis listed and you'll see how tight our organization has become. Members of NIWA often contribute to several wikis in the alliance.
Anyway, I recommend reading the NIWA About page to get an understanding of what it is. The forums are there if you want to meet other members, but I hope to hear from people here too. Axiomist 23:56, 24 November 2010 (CST)
Axiomist, my apologies for allowing this to go unanswered for so long. Life happens as I am sure you are aware. I will begin to stir the discussion again on this topic. To be honest, NIWA was something that impressed me when it was founded a year ago. It seems like a really good idea among groups who share some common goals. Thank you for taking the time to share some informative links. --FlyingRagnar 23:41, 12 January 2011 (CST)
Perhaps it's me... but...Edit
It feels like Dragon Quest Wiki is slower to load. Is it because of the recent spam that has appeared in the Wiki? --V7ing 22:36, 30 August 2011 (CDT)
Error in the main pageEdit
In the bottom, where it has Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Collection as the next Japanese release, its platform is the Wii, not the Nintendo DS. --V7ing 16:39, 6 September 2011 (CDT)
- Oopsies. Fixed. --FlyingRagnar 19:12, 6 September 2011 (CDT)
SEIWA UpdateEdit
Hey everyone, SEIWA has a new member, so I was wondering a few things:
- could someone add them to the main page?
- please head on over and give them a congrats. Here is the link.
- please update your news thread when you get a chance.
TacoBud 19:50, 21 March 2012 (CDT)
When someone gets a chance, please update the SEIWA box and post news, we have a new member! TacoBud 18:16, 29 June 2012 (CDT)
SEIWA linkEdit
Hi, the SEIWA link (the visual link, not the link on the image) should link to http://seiwanetwork.org, not http://www.seiwanetwork.org. Thanks, Randomno 11:56, 30 March 2012 (CDT)
- Good catch. Fixed. --FlyingRagnar 12:10, 30 March 2012 (CDT)
New NIWA memberEdit
When someone gets a chance, please stop over in the NIWA forums to gather the information on the newest member. TacoBud (talk) 19:09, 19 January 2014 (CST)
SEIWAEdit
Hi, I am TheFifteenthMember, an editor from the KHWiki. In our recent roundtable meeting, we agreed that SEIWA's status is practically dead and inactive so we proposed that the five members of SEIWA disband and continue on as independent sites. Former SEIWA members can then be linked to each other as affiliates. We'd like to know the Dragon Quest Wiki's thoughts on the matter; do you agree with this plan? TheFifteenthMember (talk) 18:27, 13 September 2014 (CDT)
- Hey guys, I'm KeybladeSpyMaster, editor at the Kingdom Hearts Wiki. A fuller discussion resulted in the revival, rather than disbandment, of the Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance. I'm really trying to get SEIWA back up, and we'd love to see it happen. However, we need your help. We need your input on how to get this done. I've started a forum here, which I hope you guys will get involved with. As I state in that forum, I'd especially love the people who were originally involved with SEIWA to come, so if you know any of them, please ask them to return if only to give us direction. Thanks! 50.168.202.169 23:04, 20 October 2014 (CDT)
merge welcome to Join the Quest sectionEdit
Would it be okay to merge the welcome message and introductory paragraphs and spoiler warning down to the Join the Quest section? This would give the DQI to DQX image links more visibility, keeping them above the fold on phones and other small screens. It would also improve accessibility, so that screen readers wouldn't have to speak all that text before finally getting to the links. Rigel Kent (talk) 22:18, 28 November 2015 (CST)
I made an attempt to merge them together. I agree it was a bit wordy at the top. Take a look and feel free to make addition modifications. --FlyingRagnar (talk) 13:59, 29 November 2015 (CST)
The chaos on FANDOMEdit
So as wikia visitors may know, something terrible happened at the dragon quest sister wiki. A user known as Mooshry ruined the wiki moving and editing pages untill they were irrecognizable. That user was my brother, and i am disgusted and offended by his actions. if you see a user with that name here, ban him INSTANTLY. --Dqfan1993 (talk) 19:28, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
- Saw that. I'm far from being a Wikia lover, so this was quite pleasant to see, nevertheless this is very disrespectful for the users on the other wiki. (The trouble seems over now, that's good.)
SEIWA Discord ServerEdit
Hello everyone. I'm writing to let you know, I set up a private server for SEIWA members and if any staff of the wiki would like to join to represent it, please contact me at tacopill#1781. Thank you, TacoBud (talk) 18:49, 15 September 2019 (EDT)
- Could you post the invite by chance? I've been trying to contact you but discord isn't bringing up your user name.(Follower of Light (talk) 17:30, 17 September 2019 (EDT))
- Sure. TacoBud (talk) 08:32, 19 September 2019 (EDT)
- It's saying the invite is invalid, but no reason is given--damn furfag programmers. While on the subject of SEIWA though, what are the current plans for the operation? I don't have many resources for Mana, FF, SaGa, and so forth to data dive on so I probably won't be able to go in to as much detail as I can with DQ but I still want to help. One idea I have is to use the main SEIWA page as developer directory to keep track of staff members and to see who has worked on what, including some interview details and so forth if such is available. Kind of like a specific version of moby games, but with more insight provided into the company culture that produces these titles.(Follower of Light (talk) 13:39, 20 September 2019 (EDT))
- New Invite. We are actually in the middle of discussing a full revamp/reboot of it. Details aren't finalized, so I'm not going to post them in a public area. But what you bring up sounds like a good idea. TacoBud (talk) 12:23, 21 September 2019 (EDT)
Filenames with "&" in themEdit
I just want to point out that filenames with & in them are inaccessible for editing (presumably) due to a url parsing issue. Can someone on the tech support side handle that? And maybe restrict & from being used in filenames and move files using them with a bot or something? This is primarily an issue with files relating to "Dragon Quest I & II" images, but also appears elsewhere. Example of files with the issue: File:DQ I&II SFC.png, File:Gwaelin&Hero.png, File:DQI&II Japan.png, but there are many more
For clarification on the issue, when I try to access the page for "File:Gwaelin&Hero.png" I am taken to "File:Gwaelin", everything after the & appears to not be read. -- Lulu (talk) 12:47, 15 December 2019 (EST)
- I'm not sure what the solution would be on the programming side of things, but I can replace those images with duplicates under file names without the &. Have you see any other examples? (Follower of Light (talk) 18:39, 16 December 2019 (EST))
