The pot lid is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series. It is usually the first shield the player can obtain, and correspondingly provides the weakest defence. It usually can be equipped by every character and by those who cannot wield heavier shields.

The pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2 and can be equipped by any vocation. It can be purchased for 50 gold coins in Aliahan and sold for 37 gold coins.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly BrideEdit

The pot lid provides a Defence bonus of +2 and can be purchased for 40 gold coins. Bianca Whitaker, Nera Briscoletti, the Madchen, Harry, and Sancho can equip it. Certain monsters can equip it as well.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of RevelationEdit

The pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2, but reduces Style by 20. It can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Milly, Ashlynn, Nevan, and certain Slime recruits. It sold in Haggleton during the Bazaar for 100 gold coins.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten PastEdit

The pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2, but reduces Style by 20. It is sold in Pilchard Bay and Estard for 40 gold coins and sold for 20. In the PS1 original, The Hero, Kiefer, Sir Mervyn and Aishe can equip it. In the 3DS remake, all characters can equip it except Kiefer.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed KingEdit

The pot lid has a Defence bonus of +2. In the PS2 version, the pot lid can only be equipped by Yangus and Jessica Albert, but in the 3DS version, Red and Morrie can equip it as well. It can be purchased in Peregrin Quay for 40 gold coins and sold for 20. Canniboxes and Mecha-mynahs also have a chance of dropping it. The Pot lid can be upgraded into a Leather shield using the Alchemy Pot.

The Pot lid has a durability factor of +1 and can be sold for 5 gold coins. There is a 200 point bonus for completing a level with this shield equipped. The bonus is 1000 points if it is equipped along with the other items which are the weakest in their category. The Lucky Bags have a chance to drop it.

Dragon Quest Builders 2Edit

The Builder learns how to craft the pot lid at Level 9. It provides a Defence bonus of +5. It only cost one unit of wood to create.
