Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation

The staff of strife has an Attack bonus of +33, can be equipped by Mages, Priests, and Sages, and can be sold for 5,250 gold coins. It has a ¹⁄₁₂₈ chance of being dropped by hocus-pokers, which is the only way to acquire one in the original NES version of the game. In remake versions of the game, one can be found in the Cloudsgate Citadel, as well as from the third Treasures n' Trapdoors track near the Castle of the Dragon Queen as a random pickup from a tile.
