Serpent's Bite

Serpent's Bite is a whip ability in the Dragon Quest series. When used, the wielder transforms their whip into a great serpent that attacks an enemy group for extra damage.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Jessica can use Serpent's Bite after allocating 100 skill points into her Whips skill. It deals 160% -> 130% -> 110% -> 80% -> 50% -> 30% damage for 8MP, and inflicts Strike/Rock element damage.

• In the international PS2 version of the game, the animation for Serpent's Bite was changed from a glowing white snake to one of a yellow and orange snake crawling through the ground, possibly due to its flashing effects. Starting with the smartphone version, the new animation would be used going forward.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

Serpent's Bite can be used by any character that has the Working with Whips (quest #74) item in their inventory. It attacks a group of enemies twice with proper Earth damage for 16MP.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

Serpent's Bite appears as a combo finisher for Jessica, used when she performs three light attacks in a row, followed by a heavy attack. When used, she creates a jagged pillar of rocks from the ground that will damage any enemies near it.

Dragon Quest Heroes II

Both Lazarel and Teresa are able to use Serpent's Bite, as well, if they are equipped with a whip.

Serpent's Bite can be learned by Mystical Juliante at level 52 and costs 64 MP to use. It has a range of up to three squares away from her in any direction and inflicts 110% potency physical damage to a single target 3 times. Upgrading the ability increases its damage and reduces the amount of MP it costs to use.
