The Yellow Orb is a key item in Dragon Quest III. It is one of the Six Orbs required to hatch Ramia. It is said to be traded between many people all over the world, but ultimately ends up in the possession of the Dealer character who was left to found the Immigrant Town.

Immigrant Town

Once the immigrant town reaches its final growth stage, the Dealer will be put into jail. Visiting the Dealer in jail, he reveals to the heroes the location of the yellow orb within his house.

Other Appearances

Dragon Quest VIII

The Yellow Orb is an important item that must be found at Golding's estate in Baccarat before the final battle with Rhapthorne.

Dragon Quest IX

A ridiculously rare orb of buttercup yellow. Alchemise it! - Dragon Quest IX game description

The yellow orb reappears in Dragon Quest IX as a very exotic alchemy ingredient, used for some of the highest alchemy recipes. It is a rare drop from Murdaw, Mortamor, and (at certain level ranges) Nokturnus legacy bosses.

Dragon Quest XI

The Yellow Orb is the second-place prize of the Masked Martial Arts tournament in Octagonia. The Hero and his party members pay little attention to this initially, as they are after the first-place prize, the Rainbough. However, several NPCs say that they would rather have the orb than the Rainbough, and Serena mentions that she thinks the orb is pretty--a possible hint as to the orb's later importance. Jade and Rab receive the orb after winning second place in the MMA tournament. Similar to Erik giving the Red Orb to the Hero when he finds out its use, when Rab and Jade learn that the Yellow Orb is one of the orbs needed to reach Yggdrasil, they give their prize to the Hero.

During Act 2, the Yellow Orb is in the possession of the Spectral Sentinel Gyldygga, who uses it to temporarily turn the main characters to gold in the boss battle against her. It is unknown whether she used the orb to help her spread the Gold Fever. In the events following Gyldygga's defeat, the orb lands in Erik's hand. He gives the orb back to the Hero during the aftermath of the fight.
