The Rusty Sword (sometimes Rusty Old Sword) is an infrequently occurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series.
Though not very serviceable in its current state, it can always be refurbished into something truly remarkable.
Appearances
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
The Rusty sword only has an Attack bonus of +63. After it is refurbished in Turnscote, it becomes the Sword of Ramias.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
The Rusty old sword only has an {{Attack bonus of +45. It can be restored into the Liquid metal sword via Alchemy Pot. One can be found at the Trodain castle, after getting the Ultimate Key.
- In the 3DS verison, two more Rusty old swords were added: one can be found in Memories Lane and another can be found Altar of Wroth.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
The Rusty Sword is found in the Realm of the Mighty. It can be refurbished into the legendary Template:Erdrick's sword. While not available in shops, it was available as a DQVC item during the last part of June 2011.

Trivia
- The Rusty sword's initial Attack bonus of +63 is likely an homage to how the Zenithian sword only provided +65 when it was first obtained, and needed to be empowered by the Zenith Dragon.
