Re: Concerning moving files
I'm afraid it's nothing that organized, because I'm still pretty dopey when it comes to using/navigating a wiki in that capacity. I simply started at the back of the file list and move forward, changing whatever it is I can along the way, at least in terms of monster images.
I do plan on getting back to this eventually, I'm just tied up at the moment working on a personal project. Sorry about that, yo. --PantheonSasuke 00:05, 15 June 2011 (CDT)
- When I first started renaming them, I settled on trying to keep the names to one spot with spaces only existing between the game and system. I was completely unaware of any sort of wording that could be used for simultaneous changing in accordance with article names, and can't quite figure out how it might work even now. (although I think I do grasp it now, but if it'd go off the name of the page then wouldn't it also capitalize the first letter of the name? That'd be inconsistent with in-game capitalization for the most part, though my current method probably clashes with that as well since I capitalize the first letter of the name in the file for reasons I don't quite remember now. Plus, a lot of articles still call files by the names they used before the new file naming convention was thought up, so they'd all have to be changed in-article regardless) I can't get my thoughts straight right now in regards to this, to be honest, but I feel like I've gone a bit far right now to suddenly start over, and given how slowly I've been doing things it'd probably take even longer to get it all done. Sorry if that sounds like cranky rambling, but that's about as much as what comes to mind presently. --PantheonSasuke 21:03, 4 September 2011 (CDT)
- Kinda agreeing with Ragnar, here, multiple images for at least the recent games isn't a big deal, what bothers me is when there are two images for the SAME title and they try to go for the same thing (usually one or the other being superior quality, if I spot and rename the worse version first I usually save the better one and upload it as a new version to the bad one to avoid any messes with deleting a page and then making a new one with the same name as the old). That thing with the dracky file was probably a fluke, since I wasn't considering the file that existed before the information import that included the backdrop used in the original :P Also agreein' with Ragnar in regards to simple solutions, and the sprites CAN be hard to tell apart. This can especially be the case with the sprites from DQM and DQM2, notably ones that hardly underwent change since the biggest difference between those games is that 'white' is more of a beige color in DQM, which can be difficult to tell from the small sprite. Best not to sweat these things, yo, and to be honest I'll probably be avoiding the wiki for a bit to not get spoiled too much to Joker 2. That and I'll hopefully spot some name changes to implement here (pretty sure I already know what drolls are called now... yeah, I've spoiled myself a bit, but I still want there to be some surprises, heh). --PantheonSasuke 18:28, 10 September 2011 (CDT)
- I think I'd rather get a good idea of how much better Pro is, assuming it ever gets localized, by playing the original first. Besides, it isn't going to help the franchise outside of Japan if everybody skips out on the first version waiting for an enhanced one we might not even get. Heck, I don't think I'd be able to wait for Pro even if it was 100% guaranteed to be localized. It's better to try something yourself than go off of the opinions of others', anyway. In these instances, that is. --PantheonSasuke 20:56, 11 September 2011 (CDT)

Slow Load Times
Yeah, the site can be slow sometimes. We are still on a shared host (cheap). I've found that there are good days and bad days. It all depends on how busy the sites are that are sharing our server. Someday I'd like to upgrade, but that costs a lot more (almost 4x as much). --FlyingRagnar 07:49, 31 August 2011 (CDT)
Is there a reason why Autoconfirmed Users can delete pages?
Though I'm pretty sure this was for Pantheon Sasuke, who requested to delete images, but you can delete pages too. Can you just grant administer permission for me and Pantheon Sasuke and revert the user rights so that only administers and up can delete pages? A precaution to vandalism. --V7ing 21:14, 4 September 2011 (CDT)
- Vzing, thanks for your concern about possible vandalism. However, I feel that right now things should be pretty safe. In order to become autoconfirmed, you must make 50 edits and be registered for 10 days. I think this makes it very unlikely that deletion vandalism would happen. In the future if this becomes more of a risk, I will change it to make it more safe. --FlyingRagnar 23:49, 4 September 2011 (CDT)
- Shoot, I meant to post this in the main page's talk page. Whatever. Well I didn't know that you had to make fifty edits to be one. Sorry then. :D --V
7ing 08:10, 5 September 2011 (CDT)- You did post it there; I moved it. I didn't think it would be good to put the info about autoconfirmed users on a really popular page. --FlyingRagnar 11:01, 5 September 2011 (CDT)

Spam and &
Vzing, you seem to have a knack for finding bugs. ;) Basically, the URL rewriting which makes the URLs simple looking cannot handle '&'. That is why the category fails to load/delete/etc. There are solutions and I am looking into them. I will let you know when I get it fixed. Thanks for finding it!
Also, I'm working on the recent spam problem. I already had editing disabled until the user confirms their email, so I'm not sure much will help. I added a captcha when creating a new account, but I can't seem to get it working yet for creating pages, etc. --FlyingRagnar 23:42, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
- Update, I noticed that most spammers are uploading files. I've tried to crack down on that in the preferences, so we'll see if it helps. The site has been unbearably slow for me lately. Ugh. --FlyingRagnar 23:51, 8 September 2011 (CDT)
- I've fixed the problem with special characters in titles. You should be able to use & in titles with no issues now. I've deleted the category that you did not want. --FlyingRagnar 13:24, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
Re:Categories concerning Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 Pro
I think having a category for the Pro monsters is a good idea. Monsters that are in both can be in both categories. That makes it easy to figure out which ones are in which version. --FlyingRagnar 21:12, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
- Either name is fine, but I probably would go with 'Pro' since it is a rather long category name. --FlyingRagnar 21:21, 9 September 2011 (CDT)
Re: MultipleUpload on Special Pages
Done. I've changed things so that multiple upload is the only upload page. Let me know if you have a case where you would like to upload more than 10 at at time. I can adjust it, but I think 10 is a good baseline. --FlyingRagnar 09:45, 12 September 2011 (CDT)
Moving Categories
Hey, I'm moving those categories using the bot. I wonder if some of them are a bit incorrect? For example, isn't it more correct to put (NES) on the ones which are the original version. It looks like you were leaving those without the console version, but then adding it for the remakes (SNES) (PSX) etc. --FlyingRagnar 20:05, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
- Nevermind, I see now that you were putting the remake categories as subcategories to the original game. I think that layout is fine. If we need to change it someday we can. --FlyingRagnar 20:08, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
- All requested files should be moved to their new categories. Let me know if you find anything else that needs moved. --FlyingRagnar 23:25, 14 September 2011 (CDT)
Re:Should...
Vzing, I don't think we should be too picky about image name schemes. The most important thing is that the name gives all the details related to the image, i.e. the game and the version. File:Grandmasternimzo DQV PS2.png or File:Nimzo DQV PS2.png both seem fine to me. Those names are detailed enough that you know what the image is without having to look at it.
Re: moving files without a redirect. Done. You should now have a check box when moving a page which gives you the option to create a redirect or not. --FlyingRagnar 17:19, 15 September 2011 (CDT)
- One other thing I thought I might mention. I tend to be a fan of using the name of the enemy used in the specific version of the game. For example, I think the file name would be "Healer DQII NES" and not "Healslime". --FlyingRagnar 10:48, 16 September 2011 (CDT)
Spam
I'm kind of at a loss about what to do about our spam problem. I've changed it so that new accounts must fill out a captcha AND confirm their email address before editing/uploading files. The spammer accounts do all of that, which seems to indicate that they are not robots. Hmm... --FlyingRagnar 14:22, 16 September 2011 (CDT)
Strange
I think you are a little strange, but I see no reason why we wouldn't be on good speaking terms. ;) Good luck with your studies. Hope you come back again soon. --FlyingRagnar 22:54, 20 September 2011 (CDT)
- Editing privileges have been fixed. The spammers should be neutralized. --FlyingRagnar 20:57, 25 September 2011 (CDT)
Re:I need you to...
There was only a handful of files to move, so I did manually. --FlyingRagnar 09:22, 28 September 2011 (CDT)
Deleting Userpages
Vzing,
I saw you deleted an old redirect I had in my user pages. Just wanted to mention that you shouldn't delete pages in other user's areas in the future. It's generally considering invading others' privacy. I don't care that you deleted that particular page (it was junk anyway), but I just wanted to give you a heads up. --FlyingRagnar 19:43, 29 September 2011 (CDT)
Galleries
I see that you are not a fan of galleries...care to share why? They tend to get quite cluttered, but we need a way to associate images with content pages. The gallery tag has a lot of parameters; maybe we could shrink them down to a smaller size? gallery documentation link --FlyingRagnar 00:53, 1 October 2011 (CDT)
- That sounds fine to me. I would warn against deleting pretty large galleries. In my experience it is much harder to track down all the images that have been uploaded for a particular monster later on. The search functions are not the greatest on Mediawiki. --FlyingRagnar 21:18, 1 October 2011 (CDT)
