The '''Abyss diver''' is a large [[Aquatic family|aquatic]] monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in ''[[Dragon Quest VII]]''. It is a similar to the mythological [[Wikipedia:Leviathan|Leviathan]].

 

Abyss divers are purple in color with pale yellow undersides, have a long neck, a fin on its back, and webbed feet. On its head, it has a tall crest and a pair of long purple horns. Its crest, fin, and webs on its feet are all colored teal. They are quite powerful when first faced by the player, and its breath attacks can devastate low level parties. The abyss diver also has access to ice magic to freeze enemies solid. Originally it was the weaker predecessor of the Seasaur, but the Abyss diver has since become the stronger variant as of ''VIII''.
