The boxer shorts are a common piece of equipment in the Dragon Quest series. They are generally considered a gag piece of equipment notable for their low defensive properties and they can only be worn by male characters.

The boxer shorts have a defense bonus of +10. They can be worn by male warriors, priests, thieves, merchants, and gadabouts.
Dragon Quest IV
The boxer shorts have a defense bonus of +8. They can be obtained in Reginhart and the Fungeon (One can be found in the dungeon, with the second being a prize from Foo Yung & Chow Mein). They can only be equipped by Ragnar, Borya, and Torneko. If appraised by Torneko, he mentions that they look like they breathe nicely.
