Coagulant is a recurring item in the series that, when used as a tool during battle, will trigger a terrible allergic reaction in a monster. The exact effects vary between games, but the result will always leave them languishing for several turns.

It is presumed that pouches of coagulant are made of the ground-up scales of Betterflies and Giant moths, but this has not been confirmed.

Coagulants are available for 500 gold in the original NES version, and 310 gold in all subsequent versions. The powder confuses one enemy for 6~8 turns, and is effective against metal slimes around 50% of the time. As such, it is advised for the party members not currently Mages or Sages to stock up when hunting the globs. The powder is available to buy in Mur, Persistence, Manoza, The Immigrant Town, Super Secret Faerie Village, and Domdora.
