The CoilBird is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series that appears exclusively in the Monsters games. It is a bizarre monster that is a cross between a bird and a trumpet.

Etymology

The CoilBird's Japanese name Nejimaki dori (ネジまきどり) is a reference to Japanese author Haruki Murakami's novel The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, which was published in English in 1997.
