Deago

From Dragon Quest Wiki
(Redirected from Diago)

Deago is one of the four spirits associated with the Summon skill. It is the spirit that has received the most publicity of the four, appearing in VI's guidebooks being summoned by Nevan.

Appearance and Personality[edit]

Deago is the only summon who is not humanoid, with it's first appearance being a green, quadrupedal monster with a skull reminiscent of the classic Green dragon with a large rhinoceros horn, a lion's puffball tail, and a mane of short spike protrusions on the back of it's neck. The design shown in the Nintendo 3DS remake of VII from 2013 is a red variant of a Weighvern with little angel wings and a long tail instead of hind legs.

Yuji Horii elaborates on Dego's backstory in a column of the V-Jump magazine guide for VI called "DQ Kids", stating that it was once a dragon that was raised from infancy by a kind girl and fought to defend her from a horde of wicked mages during an assault on her village, ascending to the status of a demigod for its noble sacrifice. Deago is far from the crude beast it appears to be, making efficient use of several support abilities in battle.
