Drakulard

From Dragon Quest Wiki

The Drakulard is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VII, they are bipedal dragons of noticeable girth.

Characteristics

Girthy grand green dragons with massive claws used for mashing enemies and smashing straight into the ground in order to cause outright earthquakes. Their burning breath hits a party of adventurers hard, getting increasingly hot as the battle goes on. They even pack strong wind magic, letting loose with the Kaswoosh spell when they feel threatened.

Trivia

  • Despite being named for their obese appearance, the 'lards are not the most proportionally portly dragons. This distinction goes to the jargon.
  • Their appearance and coloring in their Dragon Quest Monsters 2 sprite is quite different from other artwork of this monster, this is because it was based on an earlier, non-finalized design.
