Emberdale (formerly Engow) is a town on an volcanic island far north of Estard.
Story
Past
As the party travel through time from the Shrine of Mysteries, they see a vision of a possible future where Burnmont erupts and destroys the island. When the hero's group enters Emberdale, a town that worships the Father of the Flame, they see that the town is preparing for a festival. The Gaffer explains that there will be a festival known as the Flaming Festival, in which they receive a new Guiding Light and return the flame in the volcano's core. He invites the party to stay.
The next day, they hear a commotion. It is Palmela, the town's clairvoyant. She tells everyone that the volcano will erupt. The Gaffer comes outside and brings both Palmela and the party inside his house. At the Gaffer's house, Palmela presses him to cancel this year's festival because she has foreseen a terrible event at the conclusion of the festival. The Gaffer does not believe her prediction, and decides to continue the festivities.
The group enters Palmela's house and talks to her. She says that they need to help the people because she predicts that Burnmont will erupt on the day of the festival. They agreed to help, and on the day of the festival, they journey to Burnmont. After throwing their flames into the volcano, the party goes to Palmela who charges them to explore the volcano to find out what is the cause of the eruption.
The player is on a semi-time limit. Every time they traverse steps three time, another villager throws their flame into the volcano. When the last villager throws their flame inside the volcano, it will erupt, forcing the player to start again at the inn.
While investigating, they discover a monster, the Glowering Inferno, at the bottom of the volcano that collects the flames from the torches that the villagers throw into the volcano. They defeat the monster, but the accumulated flame caused the smoke to go black, creating a sort of a black flame. Using Pike's mysterious liquid (wholly holy water), they cleansed the black flame and the village is saved.
The next morning, they visit Palmela, who gives them a Blue Fragment.
Present
In the present, some hot springs were created underneath the well in Emberdale. Worship of the Father of the Flame has disappeared.
Palmela's shop still exists in the present as well, but her descendant runs it. She can help the party find mini medals.
After the world has been covered in darkness due to Orgodemir's return, they go back to Emberdale to seek the help of the Fire Spirit. Palmela travels with them to the core of the volcano to investigate why the volcano has suddenly become dormant. The party reaches a door with a great power behind it that they cannot pass through, but just at that moment, Palmela's servant, Dora, arrives with the conflagration key and the kindling oil. After finding the Fire Spirit, they give him the kindling oil. He challenges the party to a fight. After defeating him, he frees Emberdale and Alltrades Abbey from the darkness.
