Enraged

From Dragon Quest Wiki

Enraged is a monster exclusive condition introduced in Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. When a monster in enraged, they will target the character who spurred them for a varying amount of turns (though spells and skills that target multiple people will still work as intended). Though the monster will be more dangerous by dealing higher damage while in a state of wrath, observant players can take advantage of the system by triggering the state on the most durable character, buffing them up as appropriate, and whittling down the enemy while it is too distracted to properly defend itself.

Appearance[edit]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

There are multiple ways to enrage a monster in Dragon Quest IX. This includes but is not limited to: landing a critical hit, reviving an ally, or using the Whistle and Eyes on Me skills. Some monsters are easier to enrage than others, and not every tactic listed is guaranteed to work on every monster. While it is normal for a monster's attack to increase by 25% while enraged, there is also a chance that it will lose its composure and its physical strikes will automatically miss for that turn. Anger will subside after a set amount of turns, and beasts can be calmed at once with the Soothe Sayer skill.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Anger functions similarly to the system seen in IX, but due to the nature of the game being a live MMO monsters will automatically calm down once five minutes of time pass. Enemy attack increases by 25%, and a second rage stage activated by performing the same trigger can raise it up to 50%.
