Fire Breath

Fire Breath is a breath attack in the Dragon Quest series. It is the weakest breath skill in the series, though the exact damage range varies between titles.

Dragon QuestEdit

Fire Breath is an enemy-only skill that can be used by cosmic chimaeras, green dragon, dread dragons, and blue dragons. It deals 12~20 damage.

Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary LineEdit

In remake versions of the game, Fire Breath is an enemy-only skill that can be used by dragonflies and gremlins. It deals 12~20 damage to the entire party.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of SalvationEdit

In remake versions of the game, Fire Breath can be used by various monsters, including grillerpillar, hell niño, and magmalice. It deals 6~10 damage to the entire party.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the ChosenEdit

Fire Breath is used by fire beatle and flying doctor.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly BrideEdit

Fire Breath is learned by many monster companions such as the small fry and deals 6~10 damage to all enemies.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of RevelationEdit

Fire Breath is obtained at the first rank of the Dragon vocation, dealing 6~10 damage. It can be used by burning men, hell niños, and scorching men.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten PastEdit

Fire Breath can be learned by advancing to rank 4 as a Chimaera, rank 2 as a Drake slime, or rank 1 as a Rashaverak. In the original Sony PlayStation version, it is a hybrid skill that can be learned by advancing to rank 5 as a Martial Artist or Mage immediately after completing the other. It was strengthened in the Nintendo 3DS remake, hitting for 20~30 damage and is also now be learned by advancing to rank 3 as a Monster Masher.

On the enemy side, it can be used by caper tigers, chimaeras, drake slimes, oinkubi, the Glowering Inferno, Stripes, and the Slaughtomaton.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed KingEdit

Munchie will use fire breath after eating a piece of Plain cheese. It deals 5~10 damage to all enemies. On the enemy side, it can be used by dancing flames , Jargons, chimaeras, and frogfaces when they turn around, and by the Infamous Monster Flameman.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry SkiesEdit

Fire Breath returns to being an enemy-only skill that can be used by chimaeras and earthenwarriors. It deals 9~11 fire damage to the entire party.

Dragon Quest XEdit

Fire Breath is an enemy-only skill that can be used by chimaeras and leery louts. It deals 8~12 fire damage to characters in front of the user.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive AgeEdit

Fire Breath can be used by chimaeras, drake slimes, sham hatwitches, skullriders, and smogs. It deals 9~16 fire damage to the entire party.

Dragon Quest MonstersEdit

Known as FireAir in this game, this ability can be learned by a variety of monsters. It requires the monster to reach at least level 3 with at least 21 HP. It grows into BlazeAir when the monster reaches level 10 with at least 70 HP. It is naturally learned by the BattleRex, Darkdrium, DeathMore (Transformed), DracoLord (Dragon form), Dragon, DragonKid, DrakSlime, Gismo, LavaMan, LizardFly, Mirudraas (Transformed), Mudou, NiteWhip, Orochi, Phoenix, Pizzaro, Sidoh, SkyDragon and StagBug.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2Edit

The requirements to learn and upgrade FireAir are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the AsuraZoma, Demonite, Digong, GigaDraco, MetalDrak and Shantak. It is no longer naturally learned by the NiteWhip.

Fire Breath costs 3 MP and deals 8~18 damage to all enemies. It is learned through the Blazer, Dragonheart, Frizz Afficionado, and Shallow Breather talents.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's EndEdit

Ruff will learn how to use this skill for 3 points. He exhales a fan-shaped plume of flames towards enemies, damaging the same ones multiple times if performed up close.

Dragon Quest TactEdit

Fire Breath can be learned naturally by Axesaurus, Chimaera, Hell niño, and Hydra at level 1 and Firespirit at level 16. It costs 9 MP to use and deals minor Frizz-type breath damage to any enemies in a straight line of three squares in front of the user. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll.
