Gigaflash is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series. It emits a harsh dazzling light that damages a group of enemies and envelops them in illusions, blinding them.

Appearances

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Gigaflash is an enemy-only spell used by Sea dragons, the Vermillion dragon, the Golden dragon, and the [[Divine dragon. It deals around 15~25 non-elemental damage to the entire party and will envelop them in illusions with 100% accuracy, which cannot be prevented even by wearing a Ring of truth or Catholicon ring.

Gigaflash plays an important role in the story by changing the Magic mirror into the Sun mirror, which allows the party to enter the Dark Ruins. One of the characters must have the magic mirror in their inventory and use it as a tool in battle and use it on the same turn that a Sea dragon casts Gigaflash. Afterwards, the player will receive a message that the magic mirror absorbed the power of the spell, turning it into the sun mirror.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D

Gigaflash appears as a spell exclusive to the SP version of the game. It costs 64 MP to cast, inflicts non-elemental damage to all enemies, and has a chance of enveloping them in illusions.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road

Gigaflash appears once again, this time as a light-elemental spell that can be cast by the Sea dragon, as well as other monsters including Bone barons, Feralballs, and Sculptrices. The player is also able to cast it themselves by equipping the Bright staff.
