Gigaslash is a recurring ability appearing in many games in the franchise. Despite its name suggesting a physical basis for its (very large) damage output, it in fact does magical damage.
Appearances
Dragon Quest VI
Dragon Quest VII
Dragon Quest VIII
The hero can learn Gigaslash as a sword technique after fully investing 100 skill points into either the "Sword" or "Courage" skills. If both skill are at maximum, he obtains Gigagash instead.
Angelo cannot learn this skill; he obtains Lightning Storm after mastering his sword skill instead.

Effect | Hits a single group of enemies with Light damage (as done by the Zap line of spells in other games) | |
Flavor text | A technique for cutting down a group of enemies. |
In Dragon Quest IX, the Gigaslash ability is obtained by allocating 88 skill points to Sword Skill, and can only be used by a character who currently has a sword-class weapon equipped. Its damage output is considerable (numbers in excess of 200/enemy can reasonably be expected), but the MP cost makes it prohibitively expensive for most of the classes that can apply points to Sword Skill.
