Gobstopper is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off games. When used, it prevents enemies from using Breath-based attacks.

Gobstopper shuts one foe's mouth shut for 4~6 turns, and costs 6 MP to use. It requires the monster to be at least level 17 with 120 HP, 100 strength, and 140 agility to learn. The Platypunk, Mottle king slime, Ghost, and Toadstool naturally learn the skill.

The requirement to learn MouthShut are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the ArrowDog, among others.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Gobstopper features the same aspects as the GBC games, and is learned via the Anti-dragon, Seal, and Mime skillsets. A counter-ability, gobstopper-guard, is a passive skill that raises a monster's resistance to the ability by 25%.
