Hans

From Dragon Quest Wiki

Hans is a minor character and a boss that appears in Dragon Quest VII.

Characteristics[edit]

Hans is a human priest and the third of the would-be champions fighting in the Allblades Arena, trying to regain his freedom from the monsters that control the arena. He has the same appearance as the priests seen throughout the world, wearing a blue chasuble, a mitre on his head, and a golden rosary around his neck, and carrying a staff on his right hand. In battle, he has the appearance of a Necromacer, wearing a purple and yellow surcoat over a sleeveless haubergeon and orange clothing. He has purple pauldrons and wears a purple bucket-like helmet with six vertical eye slits and two darker purple spikes on its sides. Two curved horns come out of the side of his helmet. He wields a large purple spiked flail in battle and casts many spells in battle. Hans's team consists of three Muddy hands.

Strategy[edit]

Compared to the previous opponents, Hans's monster companions do not pose any serious threat in this battle. Zev is more than capable of clearing them out on his own with his Bang spell while the party focuses on the priest. Maribel should cast Sap twice on him and it is recommended to cast Dazzle on him as well, since Hans has zero resistance against it. Hans can still be a troublesome opponent with his spells, but he is more manageable if he has been dazzled or if the player took advantage of the Casino beforehand and acquired some equipment such as the Magic vestment to protect against spell damage. On the plus side, Hans doesn't have as much HP so he can be defeated quickly.
