The Hooper duper is a monster that appears exclusively in Dragon Quest XI. It is a big orange-skinned dancer of the demon world that spins a spiked hula hoop around itself. Its name is a play on the term "super duper".
Characteristics[edit]
Hooper dupers are rotund demons with dark orange skin and big bellies that constantly spin spiked metal rings around with their bodies. Their lower halves have digitigrade legs like that of a faun or satyr and are covered in magenta fur and they have long tails with a pair of metal rings near the end. They have a pair of tiny eyes with black irises, pointed ears, a pair of curved black horns on their heads, and mouths filled with sharp fangs. Around their necks, the demons wear light orange collars with grey triangular designs, and around their waists they wear striped sashes over ragged grey cloths. They attack by leaping belly first into an enemy to strike them with their spiked rings and they are capable of mesmerising entire parties of adventurers with their irresistible dance moves. The hooper dupers can also cast the powerful Kaboom spell, but due to their low MP pools, they can only cast it once. The demons are highly sought after due to the rare and powerful shields that they possess.
